  1. Can we change the name of the thread to "Josh Rosen is NOT a moron"?
  2. Whaley is only being interviewed for the Rooney Rule. I think we can all agree on that.
  3. I didn't see it in the article but is there no German, Italian, and Polish day this year?
  4. K-cups seem totally pointless. If you can only drink 1 cup of coffee a day then only make 1 cup of coffee.
  5. From what I've read his defense is god awful no matter where you put him. If that's true, I'd just stick with Shaw.
  6. So after finally deciding they need to make changes in certain areas, they are going to replace the people they canned with essentially the same people? Sounds incredibly stupid to me. I'm not a Packers fan or a fan of any particular NFL team for that matter but I do like to see organizations in all sports run properly and I find the things happening in Green Bay to be baffling. I can't imagine what die hard fans of the team are feeling. Honestly, Rodgers needs to go full on LeBron and start making demands or threatening to leave.
  7. Just this offseason, rumors of us being interested in Arrieta. Then a day later, the quote below which basically negated the Arrieta rumors. Nonsense rumors are a fairly common occurence. Regarding the team’s rotation needs, Stearns says that the organization’s “market and history” under his stewardship are “a better indicator of the types of moves we’re seeking than some of the external speculation.” That seemingly hints that the organization won’t be chasing high-end free agents, though perhaps some of the top pitchers could still be considered in the right circumstances I've said there's a chance multiple moves happen that would make bringing in Cain a more logical decision. I personally think it's more likely and a more simple explanation that the rumors have a shade of truth but are mostly nonsense. Stearns was referring to speculation which is a lot different than rumors. Speculation is like a prediction...where a rumor is something with some type of substance. The Arrieta stuff was largely speculation. The Cain information sounds more like a rumor. This time of year I assume that 90% of stuff that is reported is flat out made up. Either by the reporter or the source.
  8. Wow, a guy from ESPN knows Milwaukee and Minnesota have baseball teams? Maybe they are turning a corner... Just threw darts at a map for teams to make up a story to fill space.
  9. Yes, he is and has been for awhile. Of course the whole story is just ESPN trying to stay relevant by taking something incredibly with a tiny grain of truth to it and making up the rest of it for ratings/clicks. Your basic "news" media 101.
  10. This seems like a pretty drawn out process for a guy of Logan's level.
  11. Did McCarthy always call plays since he got here? It seems like in Rodgers first years as a starter the offense was more creative and used lots of weird formations now it's pretty bland. Maybe that has more to do with the players than the coaches though.
  12. Singing/talent competition shows on TV. Obviously there's an audience for them if they keep making them but how many do we need and who actually watches them?
  13. No thanks on a 32 year old with average offense who relies on his legs for value unless it's a one year deal. He was the only guy I was disappointed to lose in the Greinke trade but I'm not interested in bringing him back for multiple years.
  14. So fire every assistant coach but give the head coach an extension? Ok.
  15. So the playoff teams get to pick up players from non playoff teams? These winter league roster rules are basically the same as a church picnic softball tournament. Anyone can play for any team whenever they want.
  16. Not sure what his reasons for sticking it to them would be. They didn't fire him.
  17. What I read said it happened during the season. Also, the fact that they only extended him one year really doesn't seem like much of a sign of faith.
  18. It's tough to gauge how good any Packer WR is since every one of them that has left did nothing afterwards.
  19. Adams is the 5th highest paid WR in the NFL based on average per year. I know NFL salaries are pretty wonky with signing bonuses, and guys reworking deals, etc. but doesn't that seem ridiculous? No way Adams in a top 10, maybe even top 15 WR, and yet he's getting elite money.
  20. The example I generally give, and yes, I know Kershaw is 8x more valuable than Davis, but if the Brewers had a 24 man roster that won 88 games and had a payroll of $20 million total...Clayton Kershaw comes by and says, "I'll come chase a World Series ring, 1 year, $100 million." Mark OKs the deal as he is willing to pay $120 million this year. Would you turn it down because he probably will not be "good value" for that cost? Would you instead sign Jhoulys Chacin for $15 million/2 years as your #4 starter because he'll be a better WAR/$ guy to be the 25th man on your roster? There are also considerations that you have only 25 roster spots and a relatively fixed payroll. I get the rest of what you're saying. I would just assume that given the owner is paying up to $130 million to "finish off" this roster for 2018 that given some room that they have afforded in '19 or '20 that they won't have any problem patching holes if they need to. Your example is outrageous but I agree with you. So many people seem to think you get extra credit if you only sign players to below market/cheap deals.
  21. Another loss for the Cubs. Although if they really wanted him back I think they would have resigned him already.
  22. Machado wants to go back to playing shortstop. That's exactly my point - why Chicago would trade away Russell or Baez, two more than capable SS's with several more years of team control before hitting free agency, to bring back 1 year of Machado at SS before being forced to fork over huge $ to resign him, is craziness. If I'm the Cubs, I'd be much more inclined to include some of their young position player talent in a trade for starting pitching, not for more position player talent that's about to get crazy expensive. I'm sure Baltimore is insisting on those two. Because they really have no clue what they're doing and think that they can still compete without Machado despite having probably the worst pitching in baseball.
  23. I agree, that would make this almost an "all in" year for them. They can always resign Machado I guess, but I'm thinking the Brewers take a small step back this year so if the Cubs want to sell off their future for this year, I'm all for it. Resigning Machado still doesn't address their lack of starting pitching. Even though money generally won't be an issue for Chicago, having big contracts for Heyward and Machado will probably prevent them from throwing big money at Bryant, Rizzo, Harper, or any worthwhile free agent pitcher.
  24. Please make this trade Chicago.
