  1. Except 3 teams did it last year.
  2. I saw Tanyon Sturtz and his buddies on Twitter having a hissy fit over what Joc did after his homerun last night saying in their day someone would be drilled in the ribs. When I finally saw the video, I agree what he did was over the top but it was for his teammates and was in no way directed at the Astros. I also highly doubt someone is going to throw at a batter in game 6 of the world series. Tanyon has been ripping anything "new school" this whole series, which backs up my point that all the cranky old guys are upset that the Dodgers and Astros aren't "old school" teams.
  3. Offensively, Villar and Gordon are basically the same player. Career OPS+'s of 93 and 94. Both with single season high's in the 100's and 110's with lots of 70's mixed in. Lots of SB, highish AVG, middling OBP, but Villar has bout 5x the power. Gordon is the better defender and Villar is an obvious headcase but I see the two as basically a wash, especially considering Gordon is about the age where his specific skills decline. So, no thanks to trading Villar for a much more expensive Villar.
  4. Santana's defense is just so god awful, I can't see Stearns giving him anything long term. Personally, Shaw is the guy I'd prefer.
  5. That's the part that's hilarious. Most wins in baseball this year and 5 straight division titles. That whole "millenial baseball" thing seems to be working just fine.
  6. I know the rule says that if a pitcher does it every time it's not, but every pitch for Kershaw out of the stretch should be a balk.
  7. Not to mention not having a full library of past episodes available. It makes sense for them to not have all episodes available so they can make money off of DVD sales.
  8. If a "starting" 2B is acquired for next year (Kinsler, Walker, etc.) then I can't see Perez, Sogard, and Villar all being on the same team. Seems like too much redundancy.
  9. I think a big thing is that the Bradley Center is just a building. All kinds of stuff goes on there, not just the Bucks. Where as football and baseball stadiums, the vast majority of things that happen there are games played by those sports teams and the stadiums become synonymous with their franchises. Baseball and football stadiums also have their own personality and character architecturally (aside from the cookie cutters of the 60's and 70's). Miller Park looks nothing Yankee Stadium or PNC Park and Lambeau Field looks nothing like Ford Field or Gillette Stadium. I've been to both the Bradley Center and the Resch Center and the only difference, as far as I can tell, between the two in terms of the arena area is that the Bradley Center is bigger. All these multipurpose entertainment buildings pretty much look the same.
  10. TV Networks have been streaming their shows online for like 10 years now. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like I can't get through a single episode of any show without running in to some type of error where the show just stops playing. ABC and NBC seem to be the biggest offenders.
  11. I've found one once by googling it. I think it was some guy's blog. Been a while since I looked for it so it might be gone now.
  12. Yes, Lance Lynn. Unless someone gives him a 1 year $100M contract he will be getting more years and dollars than that.
  13. I don't disagree with this but does Lynn push us over the top to be a legitimate contender? The answer is no for me and is therefore not worth the money or risk.
  14. Those who are upset seem to think that Eric has just been handed the 2B job for next year. Stearns and Co are smart enough to know that he's not the 900 OPS guy he was for a few weeks. If that's who they think he is they wouldn't have acquired Walker. He's signed to be a bench/utility guy and if circumstances dictate it he can be released for very little in ST.
  15. Have we learned nothing from our past free agent pitcher signings?
  16. Not sure if this is sarcasm or not. Scooter made $2.5M last year and will make much more than that in 2018. MLBTradeRumors projects him at $6.1M. Ya, I'll willing to bet 2017 was a career year for Sogard but it was for Scooter too. Sogard not only doesn't suck defensively but he can also play other positions.
  17. https://sports.yahoo.com/steve-garvey-blames-dodgers-loss-game-2-millennial-baseball-074225129.html After reading this and listening to John Smoltz the last two series, it seems cranky, old baseball men are upset that two teams that dare do anything different than the way it's always been done are playing in the World Series.
  18. John Smoltz on the Dodgers not allowing their starters to face a lineup a 3rd time this year because the numbers say you shouldn't: "Well, I don't know how long you can do that." A quick check of the stats shows their 3 pitchers who started the most games all had an ERA+ over 125 and the Dodgers had the best record in baseball this year. I think it's working fine. I haven't listened to any of John Smoltz before this postseason but he seems pretty dismissive of any new idea from the past 20 years.
  19. It's nice that this series will be played in comfortable conditions instead of the 40 degrees and rain/show that it is some years. Baseball is just not meant for those types of conditions. Over 100 might be a little uncomfortable but I'll take that over the other end of the spectrum any day. Also, those World Series patches on the uniforms are horrible.
  20. Outside of New England, that's every team when they go from a top 5 QB to a backup.
  21. He had a good run of years but was pretty awful last year outside of a hot September. Even his overall career numbers don't scream great, great pitcher to me. I'm pretty much in the not trading anyone unless we're talking long term, cheap, top flight player category though.
  22. The firing of Bosio is probably so that Jon can bring in his buddy Jim Hickey.
  23. I've never understood this either. Unless a pitcher's mechanics are just totally awful and he's only been successful because he can throw it by high school kids, let them play and make changes when needed.
  24. They certainly are specifics to look at but the last three years the Cubs have had more success than the Brewers have had in their entire existence. Obviously, don't trade your farm for one player but I really don't see much else in terms of "flaws" for what they've done. The Heyward contract was stupid but the money really means little to them.
