  1. Generally people here acknowledge it for both teams. I think the reason it seems like it's so bad is batters aren't trying to protect when they get to 2 strikes anymore. Most of these pitches that are being called strikes were probably automatic swings a few years ago.
  2. Gameday has that flubbed pitch down the middle at the knees. Probably a strike.
  3. I'm still a bit annoyed that Perez didn't come in and make a play on that single that dropped in front of him and made it 3-0. I know it wasn't an easy play but with 2 out and a runner at 3rd that's a time to go for it. If he comes up with it it's our lead and the complexion of the game changes . Situational baseball. Looked like a pretty easy catch to me and he played it as conservatively as you could.
  4. Honestly, I think BA just makes stuff up to fill space. I've never in my life heard the phrase "Hall of Fame spot".
  5. Two jam shots and an error equals a run. Gosh it'd be nice to have some contact guys.
  6. http://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2017/08/15/kinsler-angel-hernandez-hes-messing-baseball-games-blatantly/104635246/ Angel Hernandez is one of those guys that if he's behind the plate, you know there will be some questionable calls. He's horrible at calling a game and an instigator of conflict. The article also mentions he's consistently rated one of the worst umpires by the players.
  7. Not advocating for it, either, but I'll play along and say the return would be something along the lines of: Arcia, Hader, Woodruff & Brinson. Something ridiculous like that. Which of course there is no way the Brewers do that, but that is likely what it would take No way it would take that much. Brinson for sure and then a couple lesser pieces.
  8. Cubs lose Cards lose Pirates lose Dbacks lose Rockies currently losing Everything's coming up Milhouse!
  9. I had to double check that one. He played 4 innings in left in 2013.
  10. So has Villar gone 100% Bill Hall now?
  11. I've always said that any major league non-1B infielder should be able to play a half-way decent outfield. We'll see if I'm right.
  12. The Pirates didn't resign Walker because of back issues. Looking at his games played per season I see only two healthy years. I have no problem signing a "proven veteran" for a couple years but with Walker's injury history I don't know if he's the guy I'd want.
  13. I've read in multiple places that the groups that were interested in buying the Marlins didn't want any long term debt (contracts) so that's why Dee Gordon was available and AJ Ramos was traded. Trading Stanton would have really helped increase the value of the franchise (as backwards as that sounds). As for trade value, I would guess he wouldn't bring back as much as you'd think. This is the first year he's been healthy a whole season in a while, and the majority of his season's have included lots of games missed due to injury. He's being paid at least $25M a year (up to $32M) for the next 10 years. Now, I understand $25M a year in 5 years could very well be the going rate for an above average hitting free agent but after all the injuries and general decline I can't imagine a 35 year old Stanton would be worth anywhere near the $32M he'd be getting paid at that age. Any team acquiring him would be getting a great player but also a lot of risk and potential money down the drain. He's got an opt out after 2020 so if you're trading for him your hoping you get 3 great, healthy seasons out of him and then he opts out. If he has 3 more years like this year, I think it's a guarantee he does. If he becomes a 100 games a year, .900 OPS player you may be stuck with that contract. I guess that would basically make him Braun, but we're not paying Ryan almost $30M a year for the next 8 years.
  14. The way the central is this year, going 4-7 we probably lose only a game on first.
  15. I actually went half way up Pikes Peak on a tour bus with a group in high school. On the way down I was on the cliff side of the bus. Scary as hell. I would guess a normal sized vehicle shouldn't be a problem for most people. Wings over the Rockies aircraft museum (I think that's what it's called was kind of cool. The Olympic Training Center may be of interest, especially with the Winter Olympics coming up there will probably be some athletes training there to see.
  16. I've only caught Pat McAfee's stuff but it seems like Funny or Die/College Humor but focused on sports.
  17. Had Action 2 News on last night while getting ready for bed. Their lead sports story was the Badgers playing Notre Dame in football in two years. The number two story was the packers resigning their long snapper. We went to bed at that point. I understand the Brewers have tanked recently and beating the Reds isn't anything special but come on, the team currently playing real games in a pennant chase takes a back seat to news about games that won't be played for years and a player that plays 4 or 5 snaps a game.
  18. Honestly, how would anyone even know?
  19. Yes, the Brewers missed out. Every week I hear a Tribe fan thanking the heavens that Lucroy decline te deal (although many were saying that this season as Lucroy struggled in Texas). Had Lucroy accepted the deal, 3 others (besides Mejia) were coming to Milwaukee. Also - it took Lucroy AND Jeffries to get that package from Texas (when good relievers were drawing premium prices). I will forever be curious on 2 things: 1) what Jeffries ALONE could have netted in a trade (with Texas or another team last season) 2) if the W. Smith deal with SF got altered to include Susac since Mejia had not been acquired. Jeffress And we got 2 current top 100 prospects in the Rangers deal. Personally, catching prospects, especially those in the low minors as Mejia was at the time, don't excite me. Way too much unpredictability with them and if they can't stick behind the plate you generally end up with a mediocre bat limited to playing a big time offensive position.
  20. How can Wily Peralta be a minor league free agent when the Brewers still control him for a couple more years? Or more importantly, how can anyone want him back? He's toast, move on.
  21. Happens occasionally. Usually in college games. It's a competition to see who can stay in the same spot the longest. I think it's dumb as hell but whatever floats your boat I guess.
  22. They're full-time coaches. Gantner isn't. Once again, is there any proof the Brewers aren't giving out the number? Have players requested 17 and been told no? Brewers went 25 years between issuing #35 to a player (before being issued to Shane Peterson and now Brent Suter). I can't imagine that was because it was worn by the iconic Mike Capel and Narsico Elvira in 1990. Rock has also talked about it multiple times this season that they don't issue 17.
