  1. #FearTheDeer I never though I'd have to worry about deer living in the city but our first summer living here they destroyed our garden. So i built an 8 foot fence around it. That took care of the deer but the slugs took their place. Maybe it won't be such a big issue with you having raised beds putting a cup of beer in the ground will attract and kill a lot of them. And putting a layer of mulch will help keep the moisture in and weeds out. As for spacing, your cucumbers will be space hogs and possibly the tomatoes too depending on what type of plant. Last year I put about 3 feet of space between our tomatoes and they wound up a giant tangled mess. You can intermix the carrots and lettuce.
  2. I was expecting that Brewer team to look a lot better. The only guys I would really wish were still around are Cain, Odorizzi, and Brantley. And even Brantley I'd hesitate on as he seems pretty brittle lately.
  3. Same as I posted in the Cappy thread. Once Jones and Nolin are healthy, Boyer and Cappy are the first guys gone. So while I see no real good reason for these guys to be on the team in the first place, they are just place holders until a few other guys get healthy.
  4. Second post in this thread and both of them made the big league team.
  5. San Antonio currently has a AA team and their stadium was built in 1994 and was just upgraded in 2006. Not sure how it compares to AAA stadiums though. Unless the Missions are planning to move already it seems like a big mess if a AAA team wants to move to a city that already has a AA team.
  6. Smith is a guarantee for the 60 day, right? His best case scenario puts him ready for a rehab assignment about a week before he's eligible to be activated. I haven't seen any sort of update on Barrios other than "he's hurt" which probably isn't a good sign.
  7. These aren't my listings but I found... http://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-Jim-Gantner-4-Milwaukee-Brewers-Powder-Blue-Promotional-SGA-Bobblehead-NIB-/161689972223?hash=item25a5792dff:g:N40AAOSwv0tVQbDk http://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-Cecil-Cooper-Milwaukee-Brewers-mini-Powder-Blue-Promotional-SGA-Bobblehead-/161689952967?hash=item25a578e2c7:g:n9MAAOSwrklVQagI Both are listed by the same guy for $29.99 each or best offer and free shipping. He might be willing to deal if you purchase both.
  8. If this team was trying to compete, I'd be all for Loney. His career OPS is actually higher than Carter's and James has a well regarded glove. However, signing him would put Carter on the bench for most games and really limit the amount of playing time for Flores so I don't see any reason to sign him.
  9. Cappy's gone once Jones or Barriors is healthy and Boyer right after that. I would agree that Morales would make a little more sense to keep but for a mop up guy on a team that's going no where you might as well make it someone who's expendable and has no future with the organization to make cutting him that much easier of a decision.
  10. I agree about Arcia. I feel he's gotten so hyped that he will only disappoint the casual fan. They're expecting Troy Tulowitzy but will be getting Jose Reyes. I suppose I will have to settle for 28 WAR in his team controlled seasons then... Or do you mean the wife-beating below replacement level player the Rockies got? Arcia putting up a 126 wRC+ being 4 years younger than league average has as much to do with his helium as his glove. He's not Correa, but he has more bat than Sardinas, Rivera, or even Alcidis Escobar had, I mean he's not going to be the super star, perennial all star that the hype he's gotten so far would warrant. He's going to be very good. I'm thinking slightly better than Elvis Andrus was early in his career.
  11. Does it though? Seattle is doing fine without the SuperSonics. LA has survived multiple NFL teams leaving. Haven't heard about anything bad happening to Montreal since they lost the Expos. And although I wouldn't mind seeing the city of St. Louis crater, I doubt they will without the Rams.

  13. I'd have to ask my Physical Therapist wife but based off of some of the things she talks about when it comes to the knee it really depends on which ligament you tear. I asked her about the LCL and she didn't think it was a big deal, especially without surgery. She said he's looking at about 8 weeks. As for the not telling anybody about it, I totally feel there is more to this story but on the other hand you have to think that pro athletes bodies are sore all the time so they don't think much of it as long as that body part still works and moves. Especially is spring training when you're playing everyday after not doing so for the last 4 months. I would be genuinely interested to hear her general opinions on any injury the Brewers have -- recovery time, severity, lasting impact, etc. There was a blog I used to read, done by a physical therapist, where he'd chime in on different injuries around MLB & clarify things like typical recovery time & offering definitions of medical terminology so the lay-person can fully understand. I loved that blog & can't remember its name for the life of me, but I do recall that he shut the blog down after a couple years or so. I love getting a physician's or professional's p.o.v. on injuries & not just going off of beat writers & clubs' messaging. EDIT: I found the old blog! The Disabled List. Man that was a great read. She usually provides some interesting insight anytime a Brewer gets hurt because I ask her about it. She pretty much confirmed that Wil is taking the best course of action right now. Whether he opted for surgery right away or waited to try rehab and then surgery he was going to miss all of or almost all of 2016.
  14. No matter where you want to rank him among catchers, there's no argument that he's the #1 catcher that is available for trade right now.
  15. I'm assuming that should be in blue because you know they're the same person, right?

  17. A shining example of how waiting for the perfect trade for Lucroy could come to bite us in the behind.
  18. Everyone knows Davis can hit homeruns. That's about the only thing he's good at.
  19. Only had 4-5 inches on the ground this morning. Shoveling at 7:30 am was like trying to shovel partially cured concrete. Went to do more around noon and it was more like floury cookie dough. Finished shoveling around 2 and that was like a slushy. It pretty much rain/sleeted all day today so there was some nice melting going on then about 5 it turned into straight up blizzard snow. I think we got more snow this afternoon than from yesterday to this morning.
  20. I came here to post that. There's a perfectly functioning stadium in Montreal for the DBacks to use if they don't want to play in Chase Field.
  21. I can't see the team getting any public support from this. Like I posted in the Maryvale thread, people have had enough of these teams forcing the public to pay for their stadiums. From the story it looks like the County isn't holding up their end of the deal, which I don't blame the Dbacks for being upset over, but to threaten to leave a non-dump of a building that was (I'm guessing) mostly funded by taxpayers is a real bush move. Not to get political, but if they want a nicer stadium they should spend their own money and not go begging for government handouts.
  22. It's probably too late at that point but it may be in the Brewers best interest to give Jason Castro some chin music or forget that you can't run over the catcher anymore when they finish Spring Training in Houston. I only jest of course.
  23. Lucroy's caught him for 3 years. More when you count the minors. I'm sure he knows all he needs to know about him. It's probably more about keeping Jon from getting hurt or worn down. He's proven he's healthy there's no reason for him to catch anymore this spring. Get him some DH at bats and get ready for opening day, wherever that may be for him.
  24. Sent PM. Looks like it's still sitting in my outbox so not sure if you got it or not.
