  1. I think what we're all wondering is: are you sick of these (ahem) snakes in your (ahem) garage?
  2. I'm not even watching but I can still explain it. The guy is a dunce. A total baseball idiot.
  3. They will unfortunately be in the same situation as they have been the last two offseasons. Really nothing in terms of minor league help. Clark and Rogers might be better than Reynolds but that's not saying much. Adam LaRoche is really the only free agent worth talking about. He will certainly be an upgrade but he's 35 and will probably want multiple years. He's also not guaranteed to be a free agent. There was some talk of Billy Butler but he's coming off of a sub .700 OPS/single digit homerun season. He's only 29 so maybe a buy low and hope he rebounds candidate. At this point the only feasible options are go young and cheap (Clark, Rogers, Morris) or move someone there (Ramirez or Braun) which probably isn't happening. Bottom line is that first base will almost certainly be a black hole in 2015 again.
  4. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/95646658/matt-garza-ejected-after-hitting-andrew-mccutchen-with-a-pitch-twice Obviously this is only Garza's interpretation of what the ump said but if the ump actually said that, that is just terrible. It was a 1-2 count, there was no intent and no reason to throw Garza out other than to please Pittsburgh. Like I said in the in game thread, where were these umpires when pitchers were using Braun and Fielder for target practice a few years ago? Of course every Brewer fan's favorite Pirate, Garrett Cole, had an opinion on the situation. Nothing like a rookie telling a 9 year veteran he doesn't know how to pitch.
  5. They should have installed metal detectors in the home clubhouse entrance at Miller Park because the Brewer have been shooting themselves in the foot for the last few months.
  6. So because Cutch gets hit a lot this season, Garza gets thrown out? Where were these umps when pitchers were using Braun and Fielder for target practice a few years ago?
  7. I skimmed your post and I agree with 2 things you said. 1. This is a loser franchise. 2. They needs an overhaul. Top to bottom they need to clean house. Front office, coaching, scouting, minor leagues. The team has more or less been in love with and produced the same type of players who hit only homeruns, but have no plate discipline, can't play defense, and have terrible fundamentals. I hate to say but they need to poach as many minor league higher ups as they can from the Cardinals and give them boatloads of cash to come and create a system that produces baseball players, not power hitters. Also, I hate to burst your bubble H4P but Weeks only has 1000 hits, not 2000.
  8. The guy was lights out until his last two appearances. Let's not let the emotions of the last two games cloud our judgement.
  9. It sounds pretty simple when you read the details. The Nashville Sounds handled the situation in a very unprofessional way. Since when did having the "right," to do something mean it was inherently right to do it? Melvin continually asked if they were not going to renew the contract to let them know in time so they could plan accordingly. Seemingly out of the blue and without reason they decided to not renew the contract. Sure, that's their "right." I think their lack of answer was an answer in itself. The Brewers should have known something was up and at least explored other options. Seems like they waited as long as possible and then said, "Nashville's fault" in the end.
  10. Hopefully that at least seals Ron's fate as fired.
  11. Price would have been nice but he wouldn't have helped the offense be any better than that batter cutout that Charlie Scheen throws at in Major League.
  12. Ya, I know pretty much nothing about taxes. I wish the government would just send you a bill that says how much you owe and be done with it. It shouldn't be up to me to try and figure out how to work the system so I pay as little as possible.
  13. We just got married this summer so we haven't filed jointly before and I don't know how we will this year.
  14. If the Cardinals made an ad like that, Brewers fan wouldn't like it. If any other team makes it, Brewers fans wouldn't care.
  15. So do you think the Reds will sit all the regulars again when they play the Cards tonight? I think not. Though out of it, they will give it their best shot, and that helps the Pirates and the Brewers. You don't sit players just because your regular season is over, one way or the other. Without Pujols and Trout the Angels only mustered 5 hits with 1 run and 15 men LOB and lost. They just GAVE Seattle a win to close in on the A's. That's just wrong. BTW, you can't compare the effort expended and need for recovery time in basketball and football with the pastoral game that is baseball. At first I thought you were mocking your beloved Cardinals with the with your "integrity" comment but it seems like you're serious. The game means literally nothing to the Angels. A win or loss makes no difference in their season at this point. It's more important for them to get into the playoffs with a healthy roster than anything else.
  16. I don't get any fancy bonuses or anything, just straight hourly. I'm not overly concerned about it. My wife is the one who makes the money and my job covers the cost of my existence and keeps me out of trouble.
  17. In theory, the percentage that goes to taxes should somewhat stabilize as the year goes on right?
  18. I think I get the gist of it. Sounds quite unnecessarily complicated but it's the government so what do you expect?
  19. I think you are correct that a manager can't challenge at the 7th but he can still go out and make the umpires review it anyway. The replay system this year has been a joke. It needs a major overhaul for next season or just completely scrap it.
  20. That picture is really a AAA ballpark? That looks like Fox Cities Stadium.
  21. There have now been 2 games against the Brewers where Matheny has argued after a replay and he hasn't been tossed. Sure, there was another where he argued and was (which didn't even happen right after the review) but by rule he should have been tossed 3 times so far. I'm not going to go so far to say Cardinal bias or conspiracy but why have that rule if the umps are going to ignore it.
  22. I was going through my paystubs because a coworker had said he had not been paid for some hours to check to see if I hadn't been paid either. (No this isn't the same place I last worked at where I had to threaten legal action to get paid.) Looks like all my hours are accounted for but, because it's who I am, I created a spreadsheet and made all sorts of fancy/pointless calculations including how much is being taken due to taxes. I thought the percentage would be the same for each check it's all over the place from 8.65% to 19.45%. It looks like the bigger the check, the bigger the percentage, but that's not the case for all of them. I know the more you make the higher your tax rate but the difference is only a couple hundred dollars a check at most. Is this correct?
  23. Ron is literally just pulling names out of a hat tonight. I'll give him credit for trying a new strategy though.
