  1. It was last year. Not sure why they wore it on Wednesday.
  2. I have never met a coffee pot that I was able to pour without it running down the side. How has modern science not advanced to solve this problem?
  3. The Mets are basically saying that Davis is not really that good of a player but also that they want something of value for trading him. How dumb is that front office?
  4. If it's nerve damage, there's really nothing you can do. We don't have the technology to repair nerves yet. If he was having pain because of the nerve, then you could do something about it but the problem is that he can't feel anything in his thumb and that's leading to other problems like blisters.
  5. Matt Adams pushes Reds fan. Reds fan flips him off. Am I making a bigger deal out of this than it is because I hate the Cardinals? Yes. But it is still fun to see. I was able to find video of the flippage this morning but I can't now. It's good fun if you can find it.
  6. Slightly off topic, but West is the one running the replay command center in New York. I don't think he's on the field anymore.
  7. I've been surprised at how good Brooklyn 99 is. Based off of the preview commercials I thought it would have a few laughs and be one season and done but it is actually a very good show.
  8. Agree with all of this. The best hitters in baseball make an out 70% of the time when they swing and put it in play. If we consider walks and HBP they are making outs 60% of the time. With a minimal amount of extra work, any major league player should be able to bunt and reach first base more than 30-40% of the time against a shift.
  9. The NFL has been doing replay for years now so the players are used to it. MLB has been doing it for 2 days. This will happen sometime this season.
  10. Say a player hits a grounder to the short stop who bobbles it. Short stop makes the throw first and the runner beats it out but the ump calls out. Being the heat of the moment the player argues vehemently and is ejected. The call is, however, overturned by replay and the runner is safe. Is the player still ejected? My thought would be yes - an ejection is an ejection no matter when or why it happens. But the ump was wrong, does that count for something?
  11. I watched the pilot and second episode at a friend's house when the show first started and never watched again so my opinion means pretty much nothing but I've been reading a lot about the finale because I like series finales. That said, it seemed to me that the whole point of the show was about finding the mother and for them to just go, "here's mom, now she's dead, but Ted still likes Robin" to be pretty crappy.
  12. This is the rare move I agree with Ron on. However, if Henderson doesn't have his "stuff," why is he on the major league roster right now? He should be DL'd and in extended spring training. When your "stuff" isn't good, the amount of "pressure" in a situation isn't going to make it easier to pitch if you don't have your A-game.
  13. It's going to depend on the player. A guy like Prince or Ortiz probably isn't fast enough to beat out even a good bunt. If you have someone who is fast or at least athletic like say Jay Bruce or Josh Hamilton you give it a shot. It also depends on the score. If you're tied or down by one you probably would rather give your guy a shot at a homerun. However, if he can't tie it or take the lead you just want him to not make an out. The best players in baseball are going to make an out over half of the time. With no 3rd basemen all you need to do is get it past the pitcher and you're safe.
  14. Apparently there aren't more important sports news stories to cover than the fan reaction to one player.
  15. I'm not suggesting anything that should happen. I'm pointing out what did.
  16. Never underestimate the power of veteraness! More like the power of being a left handed hitter and the opposing pitcher being right handed.
  17. Umm, isn't this the point of owning a team?
  18. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/03/tigers-to-extend-miguel-cabrera.html I don't even know what to say really. The money is probably right but the length is crazy. And with the options a 41 or 42 year old Miggy could be making $30M.
  19. He's not a great hitter for a catcher. He'll be an absolutely terrible hitter for a first baseman.
  20. This is pretty much standard practice now with all teams with their non-top flight starter prospects. Everyone loves the Cards and Rays and they do it too.
  21. If he's able to repeat his 2013 first half for all of 2014 I think seeing if you can move him for a SP and 1B prospect would be a beneficial move.
  22. Weather is boring. Car crashes and explosions get clicks.
