  1. Rodgers won't win MVP because of COVID. His comments about it and missed games because of it.
  2. I'd like to think that's the case but I was just talking with a high school teacher recently and this is pretty much the student behavior he described that he deals with everyday.
  3. He's gone and the Lions still suck so I doubt it.
  4. It's MSG and it's not even close. Every other stadium/venue is niche to the sport of whatever team plays there. The LA Coliseum is second.
  5. I was wondering about what players would actually be eligible to vote for the CBA. Do the guys who've already signed overseas get to vote? What about guys who retired recently and have signed to coach or work in front offices or haven't signed at all? The MLBPA website says this: Who is eligible for membership in the Association? All players, managers, coaches and trainers who hold a signed contract with a Major League club are eligible for membership in the Association. In collective bargaining, the Association represents around 1,200 players, or the number of players on each club's 40-man roster, in addition to any players on the Injured List. It says "hold a signed contract". To me, that means that current free agents aren't members. I also find it interesting that managers, coaches, and trainers are members. Especially since most coaches and managers are basically front office employees nowadays.
  6. For fans, nothing they agree to will be for our benefit. It's just how they rearrange a few billion dollars amongst themselves.
  7. If you didn't have any rules about non-playoff teams making roster moves before I don't think you can do anything about it now.
  8. Adam Silver said the NBA won't be making any changes to the schedule because the virus isn't going away so teams will need to learn to live with it. Really surprised to see someone come out and say that, especially him all of the league commissioners, but I wonder if the other leagues will follow suit. The NFL's new policy certainly seems to go in that direction.
  9. A soon to be 36 year old with an 83 OPS+ over the last 2 seasons is certainly a downgrade.
  10. Re the refs, they really don't have much choice. The NFL has made up way too many rules to protect the players. I'm glad they have made an effort to make things safer and I think the vicious, unnecessary hits have pretty much been eliminated. But now we're calling penalties on defenders who are trying to tackle a guy at the hips but wind up hitting the ball carrier in the head because he lowered his shoulder or defenders who stumble into a QB after he throws the ball. If that's not bad enough these penalties are affecting the outcome of games.
  11. He is that, but calling someone a top 20 QB isn't setting the bar very high. No I didn't think he was great but I thought he was at least a guy you wouldn't actively try to replace. After having watched him this year and especially tonight I think he is.
  12. Lost by less than 3 friggin points. Derek Carr's fumble and INT were the difference since I was playing against the Browns D and his inability to throw to Renfrow certainly didn't help. So many games I lost this year because half of my lineup crapped the bed while the other half did great. Never have I had a season like this before.
  13. I've had Waller, Renfrow, and Jacobs on my fantasy team this year so I've watched a fair bit of Raiders games. Derek Carr is not a good QB. I thought he was like a top 15-20 obvious starter at worst but I don't think so.
  14. Do people outside of the Stephen A Smith/Skip Bayless type/Twitter trash actually make a deal out of it?
  15. Went into Sunday night feeling pretty good - started the sun god at 11:55, JRob had a good game, 49'ers put up a good score, and then Kamara happened. Still pretty confident but that Saints game was a real kick to the nards.
  16. That's nice that the numbers show the offense was average but let's be realistic, it is what has been holding this team back for 4 straight seasons. Even when Yelich was playing at prime roided up Bonds level it was still just an average offense.
  17. Games getting moved should help me unless it screws me over. Chubb getting many of his teammates back will help, especially now that Hunt will miss the game. Unless Chubb gets COVID Sunday. Then I'm screwed. Renfroe is one of my starting WR but same deal. If he gets COVID Sunday afternoon I'll have no one to replace him for Monday. McLaurin is likely to play now with the game moved but it's still not a guarantee. I can't have him in my lineup and he winds up not getting cleared with no one to replace him on Tuesday. Although I'm 99% not starting him anyway with a rando at QB. I'd love to have Sony Michel as my flex but there has been zero news about Henderson either way since last week. I can't start him and then Hendy get cleared to play and I'm stuck with Michel sharing snaps at best. I don't love it but I have to have James Robinson as my flex as at least he seems guaranteed to play and should get almost all the RB touches against a horrible team.
  18. I too feel like the Brewers need a "middle of the order" bat more than anything. However, that's a much lower bar for the Brewers. As the roster stands now who is the meat of the order? Renfroe and Adames? I'd love a .900 OPS hitter too but I know that's almost certainly not going to happen. A couple guys who you can guarantee will keep their OPS over .800 would do wonders for the lineup.
  19. A lot of tough calls for me this week. Jackson or Tua at QB. Jackson is looking to be out so that would make the call easy. Jimmy G is available. I think Tua or Jackson have much higher ceilings than Jimmy but Tua is missing all his RB's and now his #1 WR. Chubb or JRob as my RB2. Almost all of the Browns offense is out with COVID so Chubb should be getting lots of touches. But if he's playing with a bunch of second stringers and everyone knows he's getting the ball I'm not sure he can do much with it. Robinson and the Jags offense has been a total bust the last few weeks but with Urban gone now maybe they'll improve or at least give the ball to Robinson who is clearly their best offensive player. I have Sony Michel too, if Henderson is out again he'd be in consideration for RB2 or flex. McLaurin is almost certain to be out with a concussion but even if he isn't he's been terrible lately. Davante Parker would probably be my pick but I've got him as my flex right now. Darren Waller is also almost certain to be out and I've got no other TE on my roster. Once again, I'll be randomly picking someone up and hoping they can get more than 2 catches for 15 yards.
  20. Rizzo just seems like the type of player who's going to still be available right before spring training starts and Stearns signs to a modest one year deal.
  21. You mustn't pay much attention to college football. He'll probably sit out 2022 but he'll have a job for 2023. Scum of a feather flocks together.
  22. The NHL and NBA have been getting hit hard by COVID the last few weeks and it looks like the NFL is starting to get it. You have to wonder if any games will be postponed at some point.
  23. Picked up Evan Engram for the injured Waller this week. 3 points between QB, WR1, and TE this week. I had Renfrow, Kamara, and Titans D put up almost 90 points between them. If Michel has a great game tonight I might win but this week is just stupid.
  24. Not to derail the thread but... I really only get to catch the last quarter or so of NFL games and unless it's a total blowout you get the feeling that the trailing team has a chance to comeback. With the way bullpens are used and the stuff relievers have MLB games are pretty much over after the 6th inning. I'm a baseball fan way more than a football fan but NFL games are by far more interesting and entertaining than MLB games these days.
  25. You probably checked to many boxes on what they wanted or not enough take your pick. If it was a corporate job they are probably looking for someone who is overly experienced or not experienced at all even though they probably had something like 3-5 years of experience required. Corporations are still treating everyone like it is 2008 when there wasn't a shortage in labor and they could get people who were overqualified but yet pay them the same rate as someone who has no experience. The tables have flipped now but the large corporate jobs are struggling to change their ways as they are just stuck in 2008 still. I can't decide what is worse in corporate America is it IT or is it HR. They are both bad but I think corporate HR is over taking corporate IT here in uselessness. It wasn't a corporate job at all. It was with a museum and they were looking for specific experience that I have that I can't believe many people in the area have. And this was not a job someone would relocate for. The only two "red flags" I can see are that my degree isn't in the area they're looking for (but my work experience in the field should trump that) and that I am probably over qualified for what they are looking for. But I fail to see how either of those things should take me out of the running.
