  1. Last year MLB LF had an OPS of .736 and RF was .774. Taylor's was .782. His OPS the last 4 years is .790 and translates to a 111 OPS+. Regardless of position, he would have been one of the Brewers best hitters the last 4 years.
  2. Yes, Jacob Cruz is (was?) the assistant hitting coach. Jason Lane has been an assistant hitting coach too. I'm sure the whole "co" thing is about money and convincing the guys to leave their current positions more than anything.
  3. I look forward to Connor (or whoever they hire) coaching half the lineup to the best year of their career and the other half to the worst year of their career.
  4. Rarely do the hitters that come from Japan turn out to be anything more than average at best. Ichiro, Hideki Matsui, and Ohtani are the incredible outliers. Some guys were barely above replacement level and most well below. There just really is no "value" for a small market team to sign a big name hitter from Japan. The big markets will drive up the price to the point that there is just too much risk for an unknown player.
  5. Sounds like he doesn't like the media asking players questions about their personal health choices. I can't blame him. The media has no right to ask questions about vaccination status and the general public has no right to know. The NFL and his team, sure, I guess. If you want to make the argument that it's a relevant question because his decisions could affect his availability to the team then I wonder how some would feel if female athletes were asked if they were taking birth control.
  6. I don't know what to do with him but he was (unfortunately) one of our best hitters last year. Only Garcia, Adames, and Tellez had a higher OPS.
  7. You would think he would be a highly sought after free agent. Possibly the top backup in the league and certainly not a horrible option if he's forced to be the starter. He could very likely cost more than Stearns could or should spend for a part time player. It's certainly not going to be as simple as Milwaukee wanting him back so he signs.
  8. Yes. He's a 1.5 win backup catcher. Not resigning him would be bad. I know people got excited about 30 PAs from Maile in September, but he had a 88 wRC+ in AAA. Really?
  9. So will the NFL actually do something about Rogers not following the "rules" or will they admit it's all theater to look like they care?
  10. Leonard Little too. Exactly what I was thinking. Gruden will never work in football again but Ruggs definitely will.
  11. Depends when you need a RB for. If it's this week then McNichols. I'm sure AP will be their lead back in a couple weeks or a timeshare at worst. Edmonds is probably your best bet if thinking rest of season.
  12. I believe there is a rule limiting how many draft picks you can have in a given draft. But overall I agree with the thought. NFL teams don't really do much to "rebuild" compared to MLB. They basically spin their wheels until they luck into a franchise QB.
  13. First week all year I had a lineup that I felt was zero question marks for what I had available. And still pretty good overall. Chubb and Robinson flopped as one of my RB's and Flex. McLaurin also flopped as did Seals as my fill in TE for Waller. Total choke job team wide. Of course my opponent's team choked as well just not as bad as mine. Barring Daniel Jones going LJax tonight I'm going to lose when all I needed was average performances from everyone to win. I freaking hate this stupid game.
  14. That was a terrible call. Are officials just going to call helmet to helmet penalties on defenders by default now? Does a penalty need to be called every time? There was noting malicious about that play, it was just football stuff that happens.
  15. Jets/Bengals, Bengals defender aims to tackle Jets ball carrier at the hips. Jets ball carrier lowers his shoulder into the tackler and they hit helmet to helmet. Personal foul called on the defender. I'm all for player safety but this is stupid.
  16. I'll just add that Gibson has been perpetually injured. I had him in a dynasty league and traded him a couple weeks ago because of that.
  17. I didn't even think about the tampering side of it although maybe there are no rules for coaches. Every offseason lots of coaches under contract with one team go somewhere else because one of their buddies was just named manager there.
  18. Isn't he the current A's manager? How does that work?
  19. I’ll bite. Why? Probably because they moved the 2021 All Star Game out of Atlanta. Considering the pressure he was under with that decision, though, I'm no t real sure he had much of a choice. All Star game thing with Atlanta and trash can gate with Houston. If moving the All Star game was so important why didn't they move the World Series too? As far as I'm aware, nothing has changed regarding the reasons the game was moved. I'm not going to get into a discussion about all that but if you're going to make a political statement stick with it. Same with things the government in Texas has done lately too.
  20. Ring of Honor is releasing all of it's talents after their final show in December and going on hiatus until spring of 22 with the hope of "re-imagining" the promotion and then relaunching. This is almost certainly the end of ROH. They served a niche for a long time but there are so many other options for wrestling fans now.
  21. This reminds me that I applied for a job back in March or April. Exchanged some emails with the owner of the agency as sort of a mini interview. He said he would take the information to his team and see if there is a fit. I'm guessing there wasn't as I still haven't heard back from him. Now I definitely got the feeling as things went on that they weren't that interested in me and, honestly, I wasn't super interested in them either. But how hard is it to send an email telling me they've moved on?
  22. I don't really care who wins but I hope whoever does does it at home only to see Manfred get booed out of the building. Both fan bases have good reasons to boo this man. If the Braves win in Atlanta, he may as well just have someone else present the trophy.
  23. https://slate.com/human-interest/2021/10/job-seeking-advice-hiring-trend-tight-economy.html Reading this article brought a real smile to my heart. As someone who graduated college in 2008 and spent essentially the next 4 years trying to find a job I can totally related to being on the other side and being treated the same way. Well, well, well. How the turntables...
  24. You have two teams playing in the World Series that were handed huge punishments for various forms of cheating over the last few years. [sarcasm]Makes you wonder if the punishments really mean anything.[/sarcasm]Or not. I could care less.
  25. I highly recommend everyone read the MVP Machine to see what exactly hitting/pitching coaches do these days. Their main job is to present information from the front office (scouting reports, analytics, mechanical changes) to the players in a way that players can digest and understand it.
