  1. I'm not quoting directly, but Williams said something to the effect that not having the Astros in their division could cost them 6-7 wins relative to last year...then the announcer mentioned they went 9-8 vs. the Astros last year. Classic. To be fair though, I never would have guessed the Brewers were 1 game over .500 against Houston. But yes, Mitch Williams and Harold Reynolds are the two biggest idiot baseball commentators on TV. I suppose they are there to provide a counter point to everyone else's well thought out and insightful comments.
  2. Whatever undeserving vet makes the roster. I could very well see it being Crosby but Murphy is a dark horse.
  3. I don't but my girlfriend who I am going with does. I get to put up with her country music and she gets to deal with my baseball. It all works out, right? Definitely will be doing the Ryman. Is the tour free? It seemed like that when I looked it up.
  4. I'll be spending a weekend in Nashville in April. Anyone have any advise about what to see or do? So far on the schedule is the Country Music Hall of Fame and going to a Sounds game.
  5. Rigged in what way? Japan has won it both times and the US's best finish is 4th.
  6. Regardless of the draft pick, money, Lohse's age, or years of the contract involved, he is still a terrible pitcher who happened to put a high number in his W column two years in a row and I never want to see him in a Brewer uniform. He is a bad pitcher.
  7. No. I've seen this explained a couple of times. It's against the rules and MLB has said they won't allow it to happen even if it does.
  8. Agreed. I'm not sure exactly what LaPorta has done to earn a major league roster spot anywhere.
  9. The whole Zeb and Jack thing is so old school. I love it. I really wish they wouldn't have started off with the obviously anti-Hispanic part though. WWE is going to receive a lot of flack and totally water down or just dump the whole angle in response.
  10. I wasn't specifically talking about Olmsted. I like his numbers. I just hate the theory that pitchers that throw hard are going to be good just because they throw hard. Most of them have no clue where it's going and while they strike out a bunch, they walk just as many.
  11. Not really. If you can't throw strikes you can't throw strikes, it doesn't matter how hard you throw. Look at Axford last year. Derrick Turnbow. Mike MacDougal. Manny Para.
  12. Swagger probably wasn't going to win anyway so I wouldn't be surprised if they don't do anything about it.
  13. No. Ish had one good month and one so-so month in 2012, he was terrible the rest of the time. The lightning has escaped the Ishikawa bottle.
  14. Who else would you put in the rotation? Gallardo and Estrada are/should be guaranteed spots. Fiers and Peralta probably grab two more. That leaves Narveson, Rogers, and Thornburg for the last spot. I don't think Tyler is ready, he wasn't very good in the majors last year and a full year at AAA wouldn't hurt. Rogers looked decent last year but I don't think you can count on him to be healthy for a full season, and even if he does stay healthy he didn't throw enough innings last year to start the whole season. When Rogers gets hurt he will be more easily replaced if he's in the bullpen rather than the rotation. Narveson isn't a great pitcher but he is more than serviceable. My only concern with him is his health after surgery. What I would really like to see the Brewers do is trade for one of the Dodgers starters that doesn't make their rotation.
  15. Everything I've read has said that the Cardinals have no interest in him. If they did I imagine they would have signed him by now.
  16. I literally laughed when I saw this update. Not because it's funny but because what else can you do but laugh. I think they'll go with a Green/Gonzales platoon until Corey gets back. Maybe even bring in Carlos Lee or some other veteran. I would prefer they not go with Morris to start. I don't see having him play a couple months and then sending him down being a good use of his service time.
  17. Kyle Lohse is the definition of suck. He sucked his whole career and was slightly less sucky these last two seasons and won a bunch of games. If the Brewers sign him, he will still suck. The contract will suck. Losing the draft pick to anyone, especially St. Louis, will suck. If he didn't have a draft pick attached to him he would have signed a contract for a couple million somewhere or even a minor league deal.
  18. Sandy Koufax couldn't lift his arm over his head when he retired. Playing a sport over 200 days a year causes long term health problems too.
  19. There has never been a move the Brewers made that I have absolutely hated. Signing Lohse would be it and I see all the signs pointing to Kyle in Milwaukee on opening day. Please lord no...
  20. The WBC is baseball. I don't understand the hate for it. I'll watch a regular season game, spring training game, minor league game, dominican winter league game, any baseball game because it's baseball. Who cares that it's a pointless exhibition.
  21. There is no way Estrada goes to the pen. Going into the season he is the second best starter on the team.
  22. I haven't like Ron from day 1. He's basically been the worst of Ken Macha (no fire, no beanings) and Ned Yost (idiot who makes stupid decisions based on grittiness) put together. There wasn't anything that really could have been done this offseason without hurting the future of the franchise financially or prospect wise so I don't blame Doug for doing practically nothing.
  23. They probably need to make room for more ribbon twirling and extreme sports.
  24. I posted this in a previous thread about Bourn:
  25. Michael Bourn's only skill is he can run fast. As long as he doesn't tank this season Gomez should get more.
