  1. The jury is still way out on the Marcum trade. Yes, Lawrie has an amazing 2011. But last year he had a .729 OPS. The only Brewers regulars that had a lower OPS was everyone they put at short stop and Rickie Weeks. Weeks was .728.
  2. I'd be in favor of trading for Morales and trading Hart. I've been wanting Morales for years.
  3. LaRoche Career .268/.338/.482/.820 OPS+ 114 Exceptional Defense Hart Career .276/.334/.491/.824/ OPS+ 116 Exceptional Height I fail to see which one is "clearly inferior".
  4. The trade is pending a Dickey extension so it's not just for one year of him.
  5. Was El Camino this year? I really don't listen to current music but I loves me some Black Keys.
  6. Because they resigned Ryan Ludwig to play LF.
  7. I like Adams but not at that price.
  8. Can we stop all the "Why aren't we doing anything!!???" posts/threads.
  9. BOLD PREDICTION: He will be an all-star this year. Cardinals luck.
  10. It seems like there are two parties here when it comes to the young starters. One party worries they will all fail. The other feels they will all succeed. Well, you're both wrong. The odds of them all failing aren't that much different than them all succeeding. I see no harm is letting them all continue to start (whether at MLB or AAA) and letting the their performance sort it all out. I feel that Doug should put away the checkbook and hang up the phone until the end of January. At that time there will be a few guys looking for jobs on the cheap and some teams that want to trade pitching to fill holes. If he can make something happen, great. If not, you play the hand you're dealt.
  11. Because he's a terrible pitcher and just put up a career year (and not even that impressive of a career year) at age 33. He's also a Cardinal.
  12. I think your problem there is the manager, not the players.
  13. I would guess that since there has been zero interest in Marcum, outside of the Royals, his health must be pretty concerning.
  14. Yes, but that offense is putrid. They are the anti-Brewers.
  15. Bedard would not be high risk. He was released last August and no one signed him. He could easily be had on a minor league deal. No risk at all.
  16. Sanchez will be 29 on opening day. I'm not sure why 5 years is so ridiculous. Obviously injury is a risk but age shouldn't catch up to him too badly before the contract runs out.
  17. My initial reaction when I read this was that Melvin needs to get Morales from them and flip Hart for some pitching.
  18. Here are there career numbers. Gomez .247/.294/.379/.673 79 OPS+ Bourn .272/.339/.365/.704 90 OPS+ However when you look at Gomez numbers from just his time in Milwaukee, they're not all that different from Bourn's career except Gomez power makes up for his lack of OBP. Gomez 2010-2012 .248/.296/.415/.711 89 OPS+ And if we want to project into the future what kind of contract Gomez will be looking for next year, it will be at least what Bourn gets but probably more along the lines of BJ Upton if Carlos can replicate his 2012 season. Gomez numbers last year were almost identical to Upton's career numbers. Gomez 2012 .260/.305/.463/.768 OPS+ 102 Upton Career 255/.336/.422/.758 OPS+ 105
  19. Bourn's only skill is his speed. Gomez at least knocks one out every once in a while.
  20. People just love to hate on Estrada in the rotation. I have no idea why, his numbers show he is an adequate starter.
  21. The opt out is becoming pretty standard in big money contracts.
  22. It's a lot of money overall but $10 million a year won't buy you much of a starter in free agency, especially in 4 or 5 years.
  23. Only those that don't win feel that way. Do you think LeBron thinks any less of his championship? Or do any of the Yankees from their last 90's/early 2000's dynasty think any less of their championships? How about Tom Brady? Winning is winning, and the non-winniners will find any reason to diminish the accomplishments of the winners.
  24. It's probably best that his return to reality occurs over 2 years in Pittsburgh instead of Milwaukee.
  25. They still have to play games. How did the Marlins do last year? Or the Angels? The Rays seem to do just fine competing against teams with 4 times their payroll.
