  1. Or there's a trade for two MLB players in the works.
  2. My point was Ben hurt everything but his arm/shoulder (until the end). It was always an injury that pitchers don't usually get.
  3. I think the majority of fan's frustrations were what the injuries were. He missed how many months because of an ear infection?
  4. That would make more sense to me. Just say Strasburg has a "sore arm" and put him on the DL for about 3 weeks this month. They have a comfortable lead and it's not a huge deal if he misses 3 or 4 starts.
  5. I don't expect both but if they won't talk either of them then to me there is no way a deal happens.
  6. You can offer anyone a, I believe this is what it is called, qualifying offer which is a one year contract that is the average of the 125 or so highest paid players. If the player accepts he gets the contract. If he declines you get picks from the team that signs him. It's almost exactly the same as the NFL's Franchise Tag.
  7. Frankly, I would get rid of them all. Trade Axford and non-tender everyone else. Next year put Peralta and the other top starting prospects who don't make the rotation in the bullpen and sign whatever relievers don't have a job come spring training to minor league deals. If nothing else it will be a cheap bullpen and make it easy to cut the guys that suck.
  8. Yes. Well, more like you as an individual are no where near the top of their priority list, unless you actually get the job. My 2.5 year job search consisted and being ignored and flat out lied to by HR people. Funny enough, the two places that actually hired me have had great HR departments.
  9. Ben's first start yesterday: Loss, 5 IP, 5 HA, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
  10. I think the completely healthy and successful rotation, lights out bullpen, and great seasons from Prince, Braun, Weeks, Morgan, and Hart had more to do with last year's success than Yuni B being on the team.
  11. Apparently Lee didn't want to go to LA because of the California income tax. Texas doesn't have one and, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Florida has one either.
  12. Drabek also got them Roy Halladay. I would take a few years of Roy over a half season of CC any day.
  13. So no credit to RRR but a botched squeeze could have easily killed that inning? It was a safety squeeze, but who cares? RRR is the one who pulled the trigger. Removed Cesar, input Aoki, bunt down, weeks in. Sounds like great managing to me. What should he have done? 1. Played HR ball there like previous managers? 2. Insert Kottaras and hope he hits it into the OF? 3. No, the best option was the squeeze. Even with teams KNOWING it is coming. He still does it successfully. RRR had a chance to do it again in the same inning with Gomez at the plate. This time with 1 out, the Marlins pitched out. Good thing the squeeze wasn't on then. Granted it would have been awesome for him to call a squeeze on the ensuing pitch. I am all for calling out RRR when he makes mistakes ... But when he calls for a squeeze and it's successful, give him credit. No, the best option was to let Aoki put the ball in play since the infield was back. Rickie scores on a ground ball or fly ball to the outfield.
  14. Meh, whatever. This just takes the chance of me watching the homerun derby from about 5% to 3% or so.
  15. Anything to create moving air when the roof is closed would be great. Maybe some huge fans behind home plate that they turn off when the visiting team comes up to bat.
  16. Let's take a look at a few "sell" trades of non really, really good (totally subjective) players the Brewers have made. Mark Loretta for Wayne Franklin and Keith Ginter Tyler Houston for Ben Diggins and Shance Nance David Weathers for Ruben Quevedo and Pete Zoccolillo Alex Ochoa for Jorge Fabregas and 2 minor leaguers Curtis Leskanic for Alejando Machado and Wes Obermueller To me this is what we are looking at for a return for K-Rod, Wolf, Veras, or Morgan. I'm not saying hold on to these guys but don't get excited about what's coming back. I think Hart might actually bring back a better return than Greinke. You get Corey for a year and a half and the possibility of draft picks.
  17. We hear so and so team is sending scouts to watch Greinke or Hamels or whoever, why do teams send scouts to major league games when every game is televised? What can you learn from sitting at a game that you can't from watching it on TV? Seems like a waste of money to me.
  18. I posted that already in this thread and it was dismissed as irrelevant. I'm pretty sure it's more than relevant and would probably be Josh's #1 reason not to play in Milwaukee.
  19. I would guess the city of Milwaukee is the reason Miller Park will never get a major event. I have nothing against Milwaukee but I don't think it's seen as any kind of a destination city.
  20. All the stupid things Ron did last year he's doing this year as well. The only difference is last year's team had more talent and less injuries.
  21. That was a practical joke on the player by Buck. It was quite funny really.
  22. It would only be used a couple games a year. Probably not worth the cost.
  23. Unless Greinke is signed, trade Corey. Otherwise, let him walk.
  24. The Dodgers traded Carlos Santana for Casey Blake. They can be taken advantage of.
  25. His own team doesn't want him, why should the Brewers? Nothing about his stats in the majors or the minors screams major leaguer.
