  1. Jorge Posada returning to the Yanks, 4 years $52 million
  2. Nice to see Fernando Perez as an honorable mention in a category. In the AFL, he wowed scouts, getting to balls and showing the kind of range many swore they hadn't seen since Willy Mays. Plus, he's a smart Ivy-League boy.
  3. First off, I wanted Winn several years ago as a AAA outfielder for the DRays. He plays good defense, walks some, gets some homers, and hits plenty of doubles. Secondly, I like Winn cause he went to SCU, and played collegiate basketball alongside Steve Nash. Thirdly, Brett, Lofton will be having his 40/41 season next year. Not a big correction, but just pointing out that he'll open the season at 40 years old.
  4. I had no idea that Danny Klassen was still playing pro ball.
  5. I know of a mint condition '03 Yukon with 55k miles on it, getting 17.5 mpg, and includes sunroof and DVD player.
  6. I'd still love for the Crew to try to retain Jones. He's thrived when healthy. A closer's role could be key for him.
  7. I'd much rather deal Cappy and Vargas. Cappy may have peaked, while Vargas likely will never be more than a 5th starter. Suppan rarely gets hit hard. He has had some bad outings, but few terrible
  8. To be honest, LeFave was one of the few guys that kept me tuning in each night. There's lots of solid players, but he's one of the few that seems to actually outperform his potential. Tools are great, but performance is nice, too
  9. I'm 26 and been wallowing in Rookie Ball for many years, but I recently received a callup to AA. It's my first time in AA, and things seem to be going well.
  10. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the Brewers win all 3, and the Cards take 3 of 4 (or all 4!)
  11. speaking of Braun...I was going to ask if we even know that he is a practicing Jew. Plus, he could be of the Jewish ethnicity and not the Jewish faith. Although, I almost had a funny typo there, to show how Ryan is almost god-like. I originally referred to him as "He." So who is Ryan Braun? "He am, who am"

    9-11

I woke up in Arizona at my parents' vacation home, in the same bed I'd woken up in to hear about the Oklahoma City Bombing, and from which I watched the Waco firebombing. I was preparing for my Junior year of college, which didn't start until September 17th. Ironically, the only time I'd been to NYC was the week before, for Labor Day. On the night before Labor Day, my friend asked if I wanted to get up early and either see the Trade Towers or the Empire State Building. I responded, "nah, no need to fight through the lines on a holiday. Plus, I need some things to visit the next time I come to New York City."
  13. Subway is only for when there's nothing else around. Cousins or Jimmy Johns satisfies my cravings in Wisco, but in AZ it's all Cousins.
  14. I see Fielder and Hardy getting 4 year deals this offseason. Maybe Hart, but I doubt it.
  15. I see Fielder and Hardy getting 4 year deals this offseason. Maybe Hart, but I doubt it.
  16. sweet, great acquisition. When Ray was with Milwaukee before, he was anything but a LOOGY, but I guess his numbers have declined...still he's someone I wanted us to sign last offseason
  17. actually, I'm expecting there's a 0% chance of Vargas returning. Dealing Cappy for another asset is simply to open two rotation spots for our 3 young starters.
  18. The Cubs have been amazing at winning when down after 6 or 7, and what's especially crazy is that many of the wins have been started by the lesser players. What is really encouraging is that our rotation looks solid again. No longer are Vargas and Cappy in there. Instead, we just threw Bush (our best 2nd half starter this year) and Suppan (3 or 4 straight solid outings), yet we're throwing Sheets, Villanueva, and Gallardo at the Astros. Really, it's nice when once again the only time I feel a bit worried about our starter is when Suppan throws, yet he's doing as was expected. It was rough for so long with Cappy and Vargas in there, knowing that they could be throwing a 5 inning no hitter on 75 pitches and staked to a 5 run lead. Then, before we know what happened, the game might be tied again.
  19. I like the pitching matchups for the Reds, Brewers, and Astros today. This could be huge, as it would put the Crew 0.5 back, the Cards 2 back. Then Monday-Wednesday we go against the Astros with Sheets, Villanueva, and Gallardo throwing (should win 2 of 3). The Cardinals host the Pirates for 4 (have to figure a 2-2 split, or a 3-1 Cards victory). Then they move on to AZ where they should lose 2 of 3 (Webb throws) Finally, the Cubs face the Dodgers for 4 then the Pirates. Really, this top 3 in the division could all be in a different order by Friday
  20. I've been saying since May that Cappy might be dealt. He's a talented, relatively young lefty with a durable, productive track record. I still think it's possible that he gets dealt for someone like Bobby Abreu in a change of location deal.
  21. not sure how Jackson can be at his innings limit. I mean, he's not young, likely has no limit to start with, has been very pedestrian, and has not worked deep into games
  22. one comment about the slow Sheets' pitches. Normally Sheets' curve is at around 82 and his changeup 78-80. I can't explain those slower pitches.
  23. The MP3 player up there is very nice and includes a radio. The only flaw with this easy to use player is the plastic cover/latch likes to fall off. But for the price, and the ease of use, I highly suggest it
  24. it was weird how when I first posted, the thread didn't show up for at least 5 mins. I bought the walkie talkees...$19 for a pair is pretty good. I'm hoping for a breathilizer. And I hear ya pitchleague...I wonder if woot comes through at my school
  25. Enough said edit: added excessive punctuation to subject line - BtA
