  1. Toby, any Horizon HS kids from Az? Kody Huff?
  2. It seems like that’s how most of our drafts have been for the last decade. I like loading up on some bats if they are there just because of the lack of hitting depth we have.
  3. No. Arcia was terrible at low-A. He had a .251 BA with a .314 OBP. in almost 500 PA's.... Arcia didn't "figure it out" until his breakout season in 2015 at AA pretty sure that Arcia had a high contact rate, good plate discipline (BB:K) and stellar defense.
  4. Fine and dandy but the SA numbers look awful too. Tell me the last time a big leaguer cared about minor league rehab numbers...
  5. Exactly the kind of player the crew needs more of. As you say high contact, good plate discipline, make him a rare bird in today’s game, and with his good defense at short, a steal at #20 in the draft. Good chance to move up rather quickly too. Couldn’t this have been said of Arcia as 19-year old in Appleton? Glad to see it from him, just saying that I’d like to see him stay at Wisconsin for another 4-5 weeks at least. He’s at an age where I love seeing the results, but there’s no hurry
  6. I’d like to see CC sit down with Shaw and say the Brewers are keeping a new set of stats....post IL only. He needs to not feel dragged down by the first 5-6 weeks. He’s got a strong track-record,
  7. I remember a pre-season analytical projection that said Moose could lead the league in HR. Doing well so far!
  8. In education, I hate hearing "rigor" and "equity"
  9. I'd trade Barnes, Suppak, and a million other arms. But I wouldn't touch Burnes. Do you think the Bbacks regretted dealing Scherzer for Edwin Jackson rather than giving the kid time to grow and mature?
  10. To me this is pretty ridiculous, and I feel good knowing that Stearns doesn't think this way. First of all, if Shaw comes back, Hiura goes back down. He's got things to work on. Secondly, If Hiura is going to be as good as we all hope, then he'll deserve the little bit more money and will be a bargain. Plus, he'll have helped us win more games along the way.
  11. Definitely agree that Pina is a better defensive catcher. Better on wild pitches and framing imo. I also don't like the fact that Grandal argues ball/strikes when he is hitting, as a catcher you need to take one for the team, and tell the ump you want the same call for the pitcher during the switchover in the innings. But Grandal does add a bat (switch hitter +) you have to account for, and right now that trumps the defensive difference. In the first few weeks we saw Grandal drop at least 5 pitches that were strikes, resulting in them called balls. But he's been better lately. Good thing teams don't run anymore, as I think they could run all day off him all day. Pina is an amazing thrower
  12. Nick Ramirez is doing pretty well. I think people need to chill on Claudio. Everything that happened after the double-error by Hiura was a result of it. Our pitchers will throw better if our offense starts hitting.
  13. I bet Rockies fans said that after Peralta did this to them. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/COL/COL201805130.shtml Every team’s fans think this.
  14. 75 yards away with his back to Braun ... yeah, the ump has to help there. Braun had a horrible view of what was happening being between 2nd and 3rd, and was hung out to dry. No other way to look at it. I think it’s over 100 yards. 3b to deep rightcenter should be at least 300 feet. Try looking for a detail from one endzone to the other
  15. Nate82 apparently has t watched Sam for 3 years. He’s a game-changer. Good defense, post shooting, and outstanding 3pt shooting. What hindered him was the lack of MU having a ball-distributing PG after Rowsie left
  16. One thing thing that hurts is that Sam is a 3 or stretch 4. Joey wants to be a ball-handling 2 or point forward, but he was pretty terrible handling the ball. They really played the same role in the Marquette offense. Losing one doesn’t hurt MU, losing both hurts a lot! Now for Wisconsin to seemingly have this wrapped up and then somehow lose them hurts. My guess is the higher profile programs at UVA and MSU and being apart will allow them to stand out and shine a bit more than together.
  17. Jacob Barnes reminds me of Mike Adams. An unheralded prospect whose stuff got much better in the minors. I’d really like him to figure it out with us.
  18. I’ve said this before, but beginning last season when he started dominating out of the pen and overpowering hitters, he’s the closest I’ve seen in years to vintage Curt Schilling.
  19. One more year and time to see if Coach Smart is relieved of his coaching duties and willing to come home to UW the following year...if true. I was kinda hoping for another UVA early exit from the tourney to really throw some more coals under Bennett's seat, but that didn't work out. If he didn’t leave for Marquette, I’m not sure he’ll leave for Wisconsin. He went to Texas for his wife.
  20. Roache is the one I was thinking of. Don’t get me wrong, I love the draft and draft picks. But we’ve swung-and-missed so much that I’d rather have a solid contributing big leaguer than an extra pick
  21. I’d take a LOOGY over Most of our competitive balance picks. Frederickson, Richardson, Davis, that powerful OF that could never hit, etc.
  22. Not sure how we lost this one. It felt like a win
