  1. Really looking forward to seeing Woodruff (2018 bullpen version) pounding the zone. In some ways he and Nelson are alike, as their numbers and prospect status got better as they moved up the chain
  2. He was absolutely incredible in Sept and Oct. It's a huge loss to lose a dominant strikeout machine. Hopefully he comes back strong in 2020.
  3. Are you sure it’s not the location? I’ve never seen or heard of that message
  4. Barnes only throwing 92-94. We need him at 96-97. And Grandal with 2 dropped strikes tonight and a poor effort at a block. Still waiting to see the much-advertised good defense
  5. I hope we do...good for him. We could have predicted with the trade and playing time, he'd hit .275/.350 with 25-35 hr. He always reminded me of a Nelson Cruz, only with better performance at a younger age.
  6. it's amazing how last year and this year (through 1 replay), the Brewers often have botched calls that look favorable for overturning, but replay doesn't change them. Then when other teams challenge close plays that look like they should be obviously stand, the umps also overturn them. It seems like we're double-losers with replay.
  7. looks like it's the 5th biggest city...my mistake
  8. Interesting to hear the critique of Phoenix traffic. We really have about 1-1.5 hours of rush hour in the morning and 2-2.5 hours in the evening, but I find it easy to get around. Phoenix is—I believe—the 5th biggest metro area in the country, with over 5 million people. Our favorite time of year is May 1-nov 1, as all the snowbirds drive south and make our roads move slower, take all the restaurant reservations, etc during winter. I intentionally avoid the area you stayed. The Chandler-Gilbert-Mesa area can be tougher on traffic. The 60 often turns into a parking lot. Glendale, Peoria, or Scottsdale are highly recommended for hotels on your next visit
  9. All season long we’ve k own Marquette was lacking in ball-handling, distribution, and avoiding foul trouble. The lack of a PG really hurts them. They have great shooters, but nobody to drive and kick. You watch these other teams, and most have secondary or tertiary guys that can make an initial move with the ball, forcing others to respond on defense. Teams figured out to press Howard and to focus on the Hausers to make Howard beat them. Hopefully McEwen and Elliott help with ball handling next year. Marquette had a great season with one lull. Wisconsin has a lull. Nova had a lull. Most teams have one at some point
  10. Seriously? I'm not quibbling with any other point right now, but this one is really going the extra step. What exactly is "discomfort" in your throwing elbow when you're a pitcher if not pain? It's not comparable to you having sore feet. Have you experienced pain vs discomfort? I’ve been amazingly healthy, but have had a knot in my back for the last 3 weeks. It was never painful, but it was just there. There’s a difference Beyond that, remember that Knebel had a damaged UCL when we acquired him. I believe PRP and rehab were able to Macguyver his arm together, but it was always sort of expected the ligament might have further deteriorating
  11. I think a 1-year deal with mutual option sounds right. It inflates the sound of the value of the contract, but also won't get exercised.
  12. Alonso is who immediately comes to mind. Big minors power bats often hit more in the majors due to the longer season
  13. why? I don't care what he does in March. I want him to be pitching in Sept/Oct Because he’s ready to pitch in games. I think brewers agree, but we’ll find out tomorrow. Love to see him build up his pitch count so he can open with the big club. What's the maximum allowable innings for Nelson this year? 100? 120? 150? I'd rather he be in extended spring training until May 1. I don't want him having too many limitations, and I'd hate to see him doing well in the pennant chase when he gets pulled for surpassing an innings allotment
  14. why? I don't care what he does in March. I want him to be pitching in Sept/Oct
  15. Every team has a lull. Wisconsin had theirs in December into early January, I think. Marquette's poor ball handling and passing is being exposed, as teams are throwing full-court and 3/4 court presses at them. It's been a while since MU had a guard that could just put his head down and outrun a press. Howard's shortcomings entering this year are still present--he's a poor ball-handler, his defense is poor for a PG (improving though), he doesn't distribute/create well. Hopefully next year with McEwen, Elliott, and others, MU will have help at ball handling. Anim has potential, but he doesn't trust his left hand
  16. umm, this is a little ridiculous. It's early in spring training. Everyone is allowed a couple spring mulligans. My view on spring training has evolved into I celebrate when guys thrive, I shrug my shoulders when they don't. I don't declare people done or a star based on a few innings or at bats.
  17. The downside would be that at 33 he does even worse than last year, and they still give him a bunch of starts waiting to see if he will come around. If he performs like last year, then that’s a huge addition. Even slightly less would be good. Did you think he sucked as a Brewer?
  18. last night ESPN was showing +3.5 Today MGM shows it opened at -5 and remains there. I was a little off on my guess, but Nova is a good team playing in a tough environment. Hopefully Markus is healthy.
  19. I absolutely love working with a Trackman. I'm a 3 handicap, but have been as low as a +.8 in the past. I've always played a cut and have swung outside-in (to left-center field). Working with a trackman, I was able to use the data feedback to dial in my swing path. I would feel a swing I like, and compare it to the data. So I highly recommend it if you haven't had a chance.
  20. Despite Robert Kraft being in the news for several days, I have yet to see an article written about why states need to legalize prostitution. Certain Nevada counties have a legal market in which parties negotiate for services without the fear of arrest. Yet other states (and counties in NV) are where the sex trafficking is occurring. A regulated, legal marketplace is the solution to eliminating much of the problem.
  21. Pretty simple. Team rosters are full. There are plenty of veterans available. If teams pay for a full-time DH, they'll make more than the last bench player or last pitcher, although realistically I don't think the DH takes a pitcher's job. If should lead to less double switches and take away the token .220 hitting backup infielder. I still advocate for several simple things: -expand to 32 teams -previous point will also increase the number of minor league teams by 2 per level -add an extra MLBPA run AAA team that is comprised only of MLB veterans...giving them jobs and allowing their contracts to be purchased at any time, rather than sitting on their couch or playing independent ball -increase minor league wages -eliminate the pitcher batting by either adding the DH or batting only 8 players as Doug Melvin has recommended -expand rosters by 1-2 players -return the luxury tax to its previous less penal policies, including eliminating draft pick threats. If the Dodgers or Cubs want to spend $500 million and have terrible years at times, I'll laugh at them like I have in the past. -fight tanking. It's worthless in baseball.
  22. Don't forget the costs of ownership is not simply player salaries. The front office, analytics departments, Murphy Money, first class tickets for players, team charters, top hotel rooms, locker room attendants, in-game entertainment, etc. People on here are acting like: (Brewers Revenues) - (Players salaries) = profit This is simply not true.
  23. Should be tough game this week at Nova. My guess is the line will be Nova -1.5
  24. And he won’t play in games or do baseball drills as per jsonline and mlb.com. Brewers are looking at this for Aug-Sept and 2020
