  1. He's owed $95.5 million over the next 3 years, gets $2 million if traded, has salary deferrals of $32.5 million from these 3 years, and has $3 million/season coming for his signing bonus. Assuming the DBacks would be on the hook for the salary deferrals from 2016-2018, the $2 million trade bonus, and the remaining $9 million of his signing bonus...that leaves $95.5 million owed over the next 3 years (with $32.5 of it deferred). If they agree to cover the deferred money, that would leave $67 million for 3 years. It may be a lot to ask them to take off another $13m to get it to $54m ($18/yr).
  2. I'd love to re-acquire him.
  3. seems like a very good deal for the Reds. Brewerfan users almost always assume players are in decline and will not bounce back. Sometimes they are right, and many times they have been wrong.
  4. nice comeback against the Friars. Marquette's great FT shooting was huge. possibly a top 10 tomorrow?
  5. MLBTradeRumors says the Cubs may look to move Zobrist. I've always liked him since he was on my Fall League squad. He's had a tremendous career, is a switch hitter, and handles 2b very well.
  6. Totally with you on this. I'm a high school teacher, and my classroom rule is no earbuds/headphones or whatever they are called now. They act like I am taking their right arm when I ask them to remove them. The hell of it is, there are teachers in my building that allow them, all the time. There are kids that wear them all damn day, IN SCHOOL! If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny. Don't get me started on cell phones... Studies show teens and millennials are showing hearing loss normally seen in senior citizens due to having music constantly in their ears for 10-12 hours per day.
  7. We were taught in grade school that noon is just a term for 12pm, midnight for 12am. Not sure why there’s a claim that isn’t the case. As for CST and CDT, I teach it in my high school classes as a random topic. In AZ, we technically never switch between mountain and pacific like many people say. We remain on MST year-round.
  8. I like our current rotation, but if it only takes a Supak or Stokes, I'd do it.
  9. Fielding percentage can be ignored. In fairness, I didn't remember him logging that many games at 2nd. I remembered a few innings at SS.
  10. I liked how Kizer threw some balls. For instance, he threw some jump balls in the last game that gave his receivers a chance to make a play. Rodgers hasn't put any air under a non-hail mary in like 3 years. If he had been lobbing balls to Graham instead of rifling them off his face-mask, Graham may have had many more TD. The dude has made a career on jump balls. Rodgers doesn't like jump balls because they may ruin his statistics.
  11. I think their data is also helping them find good players later in the draft. We're all excited about Clayton Andrews - a 17th round pick in 2018. Quintin Torres-Costa, who looked ready to join the Crew this year before he needed a Tommy John - 35th round, 2015 Brent Suter, a solid part of the rotation until his Tommy John - 31st round pick 2012 Weston Wilson, looking like a replacement for Hernan Perez - 17th round, 2016 Jon Olczak, potential bullpen ace - 21st round, 2015 Scott Sunitsch, starting pitcher who did well in Wisconsin - 18th round, 2018 Conor Harbor, another good SP prospect - 16th round, 2015 Cooper Hummel, a very good C/OF prospect - 18th round, 2016 I know you like to move guys around like video games, but isn't that a bit optimistic? Perez plays solid at SS, 3b, 2b, and OF. Wilson is a 1b, 3b, corner OF.
  12. Wilkerson is a solid option. Most guys that can do as well as him in AAA simply need reps in MLB. He hasn't gotten many options. Perhaps he'll be one of the yo-yo guys between Milwaukee and San Antonio this year
  13. A simple solution to much of this. MLB will expand to 32 teams soon. That's 50 more jobs, some will be big salaries
  14. Win or lose, tonight is huge for Marquette. Playing without Howard and Morrow, they are all having to be smart and aggressive, not timid. Bailey really shining. John looking awesome
  15. maybe middle infielders is the new market inefficiency.
  16. Pina plays outstanding defense and has--at least in 2017--shown he can hit.
  17. except for the actual calories in vodka.
  18. There won’t be a work stoppage. However, the union will push for things besides “more days off” like last time. A salary floor is possible. More revenue sharing so more teams can spend freely. Less punishment for signing free agents. I prefer teams not losing picks, but rather teams getting extra picks for net acquisitions (like the NFL does).
  19. Given shifting, I think the Brewers don’t care much about individual skills at 2b/3b. I think they view them as out-defenders. With proper positioning, they can overcome many issues
  20. I think you and I have a misunderstanding. Since Stearns does not make draft decisions, he likely doesn't view the players as HIS draft picks.
  21. I think Stearns will have a tough time moving on from his 1st ever draft pick without giving Ray more opportunities to become a quality major league player, so I doubt he is headed anywhere via trade this offseason. From everything I've seen with Stearns, he seems the kind to view the players as assets that can be moved. I don't see him as enamored with people, especially draft decisions that he didn't make. Stearns believes in moving assets to acquire known commodities and churning the roster to preserve flexibility.
  22. I'm all for selling high on Ray. Unless the Brewers think he can be a game-changer, I'm okay with moving him as a key piece.
  23. I don't think people fully appreciate how good Broxton's 2nd half was in 2016 before he broke his wrist running into the wall at Wrigley. He was amazing. I can understand why teams still want to dream on him. Doesn’t he also lead the league in HR thefts after the 6th inning over the last 3 years? Some crazy stat like that
  24. In my experiences, The guest lists are generally dictated by the bride’s mom, even when the parents aren’t paying for anything. So most of my friends haven’t cared too much about convenience for guests since they only get to invite a few people. My guess would be people with a New Years wedding like parties—and want to tie in the festivities already occurring.
  25. Pina will likely do better next year as well
