  1. 49% is even better
  2. The CBA says teams should stay at the best possible hotels in cities. In Milwaukee, the teams get taken care of really well there...especially when Joe Torre is kept awake all night talking to dead Yankees managers
  3. If he makes it to the mound this year, that’s a huge success. If he’s anything close to last season, that’s impressive. Very few pitchers seem to come back from shoulder surgery near 100%. Even those that come back effectively often don’t pitch long. I’m thinking of studs like Ramon Martinez, Pedro Martinez, Alex Fernandez, Teddy Huguera, Mark Mulder, etc.
  4. Don’t forget the bonus pool overages are percentage based. Failing to sign Turang not only loses a stud prospect, but takes away a large amount of both bonus pool and the overage. 5% of a bigger number means a bigger overage allowance
  5. He’s clearly not in the top 20 pitchers in the organization. He has no role. When he comes in, it doesn’t go well
  6. He’s on a SLG tear in Carolina. Doubles and a homer so far
  7. I think this is sort of like flirting with a girl now, knowing that she's seeing someone, but planting the seed in her mind that you're interested. The Brewers hope that a couple of these talented kids might not have seriously considered going pro yet. Now that they've been drafted, they're going to at least contemplate things before going to school. If a few kids realize their hearts aren't into college, then they now have an option.
  8. Let me just say that if an accusation against me--as a teacher, coach, and human being--is ever made, I hope that many people on this forum are removed from any jury pool. They don't care about being impartial or fair. It's why I generally don't rush to judgement in major news stories.
  9. I may be willing to accept your point if he were actually being contrite about it right now. Please read all the articles and comments. He proclaims his innocence and yet feels very sorry his family has been out through this. If his story is correct, I know of fellow teachers that have resigned despite proclaiming innocence over accusations
  10. I'm cautiously optimistic with Stokes. What tempers my enthusiasm is that Gindl outperformed him at every age/level and wasn't able to carve out a big league role. I was a huge Gindl fan
  11. He's been a great player for a while--yet he might have been better if he were a pitcher. What a great success
  12. People also love to jump to conclusions. We don’t know what happened. We know the accusation and that he pled guilty. Is what he did worse than Yo? Driving at 3-times the legal limit is pretty severe and I was appalled that MLB didn’t suspend him. KRod abusing his girlfriend and his father-in-law is pretty bad. We acquired him what, 3-times? I didn’t do stupid stuff as a teen, but as a teacher I see kids all the tine doing stupid stuff. My point is that he’s served his punishment in the eyes of the law. I’m not sure I want the brewers to have him, but I don’t feel baseball should blackball him. Edit- not to imply I see kids doing stupid stuff...obvious stories from around school are what I mean.
  13. I never understood the trade at the time. I never had liked Parra, and felt Haniger was a legit prospect with Banda an intriguing lefty. It always seemed Haniger was the best player in the trade. However, Parra played well in Milwaukee and I learned to feel ok with the trade. I’m happy with Davies
  14. Love the Rasmussen pick. I’d consider introducing him in 2019 with a Hader-like role. 2-3 IP twice a week. Over time the team can make a better determination of his role. As for Heimlich, a part of me is thoroughly disgusted and a part of me believes he deserves a chance. MLB scouting and security bureaus do a tremendous job and they likely know far more than we ever will.
  15. I don’t agree. There’s no evidence that they are terrified, but rather evidence they find value in trying to get everyday players over pitchers.
  16. Actually, trading mediocre hitting and free agent-to be relievers for 2 top pieces in a rotation sounds like a great strategy.
  17. In fairness we’ve heavily targeted pitching for years and most have been wasted picks. The Cubs have found success forgoing pitching in the draft, drafting hitting, and signing free agent pitchers. I don’t want to mimic them, but I prefer seeing us go hard early after hitters. Rounds 4-10 can go more heavily pitching.
  18. Very well said. while that's often true, that raw athlete was Lorenzo Cain
  19. You mean like Jungmann and Bradley? This strategy has only worked with Sheets and--to a lesser extent-- Kyle Peterson for us
  20. I swouldnt do a thing at SS. I’d play him 4-5 times a week with getting some breaks for a backup while he works on things. Once he starts coming around, I would play him 6-7 days a week
  21. My hopes are very high...nothing has slowed. Between his 2nd half last season and 1st half this year, he's turning a corner. Pitching deeper in games, having fewer big innings.
  22. One thing I’ve learned from talking with pro athletes and trainers is that surgery is never a guaranteed fix and other options should be exhausted first. It’s very easy for us fans to say, “just have surgery already and get it fixed. Then in 9 months he’lol be full strength again”
  23. Choi has been sick, not injured.
  24. She does a real nice job. Not quite as good as Treni. My only beef is Sophia’s accent is pretty severe. After not living there full time since I was 18, sometimes it hits me hearing her
