  1. It's not a clear indication of anything. Burnes was good last year...but as a previous post laid out he didn't actually win games for the Brewers. They were like 17-14 when he started, or something like that. The defense is a big reason for all of our pitcher's success.
  2. I also thought of this this week...I tried to ask Bart a question on Torvik but something was screwed up on his FAQ questions thread. And I can't post on Buckyville anymore😎.
  3. It's also WAYY easier to run clock when you have AJ Storr on the team, as he can get any shot off from just about anywhere...and it even has a chance to go in. Not just him, but when everybody (except CG) is a decent one-on-one player there is almost always a match-up to find and get a decent shot fairly quickly. This was a trademark of Bo's teams.
  4. I have an uncle (well... my father's cousin...whatever that makes him to me) who is a small town WI guy who was probably a better player than Gumby at the same position and about the same age. If labor situations were the same today as they were in 1979, I'm certain he would have stuck with the whole pro baseball thing and had a fun (and relatively lucrative) Owen Miller/Vinny Rottino type of career rather than choosing a more normal life after hitting .300 in AA and Spring Training for a couple years. I've never asked him about Gantner, although I KNOW he thinks he is/was a better player than Al Newman😎😆
  5. That's a good way to state it. The '15 team could and would beat anybody- as many times in a row as it took- because they were that good. This team seems like it needs the right matchups to win 4 in a row. And then of course 2 more after that--but it is within the realm of possibility. There isn't a team in the country this year as good as a '15 UW, UK or Duke.
  6. This team has the makings of something special. Best UW offense ever outside of the FF teams (Who [statistically] are among the best offenses in the history of analytical college basketball). @Nebby and PU at the Kohl this coming week will reveal if they have the chops to win a title or just be content with being good.
  7. I mostly agree with this take...but 3 batting titles AND an MVP at CATCHER is extremely rare...
  8. UHHhhhmmm.... I think you mean "Rays" rather than "Marlins?"
  9. I know that I am especially "guillable". I anxiously await all of the responses to your posts...
  10. No power...but .265/.362 with 37 steals is pretty good. Speed makes up for lack of SLG. I have no idea on his defense though, which is probably the make or break characteristic on if he has a decent shot at the Show or not.
  11. Then where is Eric Brown jr.?
  12. 91-79 was not on my radar. At the half that is a crazy unlikely score and not great. When it was 49-42 with 15 mins left or so, I'll obviously take it. When it was 67-44 with 12 mins left or so that's a CRAZY ugly score. What a streaky game. Ws are good.
  13. I would be happy with a 79-52 victory. 81-49 would be even better.
  14. This is a travesty of a "basketball" game. Team defense, position defense is over. Hack and grab for steal and blocked shots is fine, but REFS/god-forbid if you move your feet to get in front of somebody.
  15. Storr, Crowl and Wahl should completely own the paint in the 2nd half.
  16. (without Frank Kaminsky)
  17. @PSU is an annoying game, in that all road games in the B1G are difficult, yet a loss would be a BAD loss. Winning is expected, but not easy.
  18. I downloaded the Arby's app yesterday and signed up for the rewards program. I saw "4 classic roast beefs 4 $10" on the sign with the big hat outside so I decided to do that. I added curly fries and a coke and hit the checkout button...came up $0.00 on my phone. I felt bad but I had slept at the airport the night before and really didn't feel like taking the time to correct the issue so I went in and grabbed my free bag of food. It was all on the receipt, but I guess the 19 year old's working there didn't care, so I didn't either. It was delicious, and I still have 1 sandwich left.
  19. Maybe....It just seems like everybody LOVED Josh Gasser right from the start... from my view Max is JG's clone, but the fanbase seems to clamor for more CE3 instead🤔
  20. This aged poorly. Klesmit is so awesome. Gets 0 credit...why? I have no idea. He's our best defender and on offense basically single handedly won two of the biggest games this year (Marq/@OSU). The guy is pure nails.
  21. Assuming he plans on being the owner in '25, '26, and '27...
  22. Football is a television friendly, high adrenaline sport. Baseball is a summer-time-be-gone relaxing game of skill. Baseball is high volume and low consequence. Football is low volume and high consequence. George Carlin does this better than I do (and this SEEMS to disparage baseball...but not really)
  23. I think the biggest weakness is consistency--and related to that is the lack of an alpha-leader. Who makes sure that every game and every defensive possession is played with the maximum amount of focus and intensity? Other than Klesmit (and even he started off this season in a fog), every player has a tendency to disappear for long stretches of time. Part of that is matchups/game-plan, and the fact the we aren't reliant upon one player or one style. This is a credit to the depth and versatility of the team. Still, I'd like it if a few guys showed a little more fire when fire was necessary. That said, "fire" probably won't be "necessary" until March, and I don't want them to burn out early...
  24. There are WAY too many differences between sports to compare each League's financial structure and revenue distribution system and credit those systems and structures for either the popularity or financial success of any of those Leagues. Comparing fruit baskets to vegetable gardens to grain markets is silly. Baseball is doing incredibly well. It doesn't get national ratings for it's Championships, but whatever. Total revenue is high and keeps getting higher, even for small market teams.
  25. Good enough second half...but Perkins got what he wanted. Had Krikke not been in foul trouble or Wahl misses a few FTs it would have been close. But, good enough.
