  1. I'm one who thinks that most left-handed players SHOULD be platooned. I certainly understand the sentiment of playing guys everyday until they fail, but I don't think Frelick needs 650 PAs this year. 450-500 is plenty and if that gives more ABs to capable players like Perkins/Monasterio/Ortiz so be it. I like a fresh, engaged bench. I certainly hope that at least Frelick does get SOME ABs vs lefties and if he is successful then perhaps he gets even more chances, but there isn't anything wrong with a "soft"-platoon IMO.
  2. Or else we don't want to burn the entire bench....especially without another C after Bauers came in. He could have hit instead of Turang, but with the lead you use Turang for his defense.
  3. How many players have ever made their MLB debut as the leadoff hitter on Opening Day? In NYC?
  4. My predicted lineup: LF Yelich C Contreras SS Adames 1B Hoskins DH Bauers RF Chourio CF Frelick 3B Ortiz 2B Turang
  5. My lineup: LF Yelich C Contreras SS Adames 1B Hoskins DH Sanchez RF Chourio 3B/2B Ortiz CF Perkins(...or Frelick) 2B/3B Monasterio I'm' not sure what combo of 2b/3b is best when both Monasterio and Ortiz are playing D...
  6. 85. WS championship still within reach.

    Pizza

I haven't had this specific problem with those brands, but with other frozen foods that tend to burn on the edges (I'm thinking big, fat chicken pot pies maybe by Marie Callender) I've had success by wrapping the edges in aluminum foil. That insulates the edges a bit making them cook slower.
  8. I had cancelled Netflix after Ozark ended awhile back...then re-subscribed due to The Diplomat and The Night Agent suggestions on here. Both are great...as is The Recruit. Treason isn't bad either. All 3 are similar-ish and all 3 are being renewed for a 2nd season to be released at some point in the next year or so.
  9. Don't blame me! Blame OOTP!😉
  10. Yikes...that's poor form. Either he forgot/didn't know that they signed him long term or he has no idea what it means when people talk about "starting the clock" for young players. I'm not sure which is worse. One probably shouldn't use commonly said phrases if one has no idea what they mean.
  11. How long can you "concentrate" on hitting before it becomes detrimental? Perhaps it doesn't work out, but the risk/reward in trying this out in Spring Training for a few weeks is off the charts in favor of reward...
  12. This is only relevant for players who are likely to command medium to large multi-year free agent contracts once they are eligible. By the time most guys reach their 6th year of control they are barely worth their arbitration/one year contract salary, so it's not like another year of control is that advantageous to a club. Still, if one of the young guys really hits and becomes a perennial all-star yet also will not sign an extension, that year could make a huge difference.
  13. Luck Quotient is basically how many close games you win or lose. The 2 OT losses basically make us unlucky.
  14. I once stayed at a hostel/hotel run by a German guy on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. It was an open air type of place and he liked to feed the coatis that ran all over the place. In a very ASMR type of way he sharpened the kitchen knives for us before we borrowed them. Nicaragua is close to Costa Rica.
  15. Not sure if yer serious....Eight Men Out is a great movie. Never ever mentioned when discussing baseball movies but it's a gem.
  16. Where is the line? It is commonly thought that any NFL quarterback who refuses to slide is basically an idiot. Why is not diving into the wall any different?
  17. If the Brewers would have offered him the same amount as Edwin Diaz got his first Arby year, he would have signed AND been amenable to pitch more than just the 9th to wrack up saves and more arby money. It would have cost a few hundred grand if I recall. I'm pretty sure Stearns would go back and do that now rather than go thru the arby process and drama of the aftermath.
  18. Yet, still losing.
  19. It's all about the D. We can get anything we want on the other end from anybody...Chucky, MKUltra, Storr can get to the hoop whenever they want...Wahl and Crowl can operate...open 3s could be had if we drive and kick and move the ball...
  20. This should be a W going away. I don't think it will be. Storr should go to the hole every single time, but it's boring and Gard benches him instead.
  21. I've tried to figure this out for 25 years...Every seed is about the same as the one on either side of it. I used to hate the 5 seed and the 8/9 seeds relative to those around them, but after making 21/23 tourneys or whatever it has been it's gotten to the point where it just doesn't matter. Get in and get hot, just like the MLB playoffs🙂
  22. I agree with this for position players. Impact pitching can come at anytime at any age. In fact, I'd say that a lot of phenom young pitchers--like Cy Young guys at 25 or under--often are flash in the pans or injuries derail their careers.
