  1. I remember when like 2-4 posters made a lot of noise about it....but apparently they left...
  2. John Doar? (he was friends with my Grandpa...(everybody should watch the movie "Mississippi Burning"))
  3. This is pretty much true. I have lots of teams that I cheer for and 'kinda' like and I 'hope they win this game I'm watching'...But I'm only emotionally invested in 1 team from each sport...well, in baseball, football, and college bball, The Bucks fall into the teams I like but just don't really care about. No matter how much I try, the love just isn't there. I kinda like the Twins now that they are in a different League from the Crew. But it's not like I'm ever going on Twins Daily (except maybe today and tomorrow).
  4. Because most good teams have a good bullpen which is used when they are ahead, making scoring difficult. This works two-fold, in that you want a lead early so you get to emply your shutdown relievers at the endgame AND the other team does not get to use its shutdown relievers.
  5. Meh. Avisail Garcia and Hunter Renfroe and Eric Thames and Mike Moustakas and Yas Grandal were just fine with Milwaukee, Jesse Winklesuck and Andrew McSucktion were bad adds. Guys like Aguilar, Adames, Ji-Man Choi, Dan Vogelbach and Rowdy Tellez have been a mixed bag, but Rowdy still has some time to recover and use the injury excuse. Overall I wouldn't say MKE has been a poison to newly added hitters. Canha and Santana have another 6 weeks to prove themselves...
  6. Why do so many teams have the day off this Sunday (Aug 20th)? I can't remember any team ever having Sunday off...
  7. Count 'em (If '83 is "1" then 2023 is the 41st year after (which was my intention)...If '83 is "0" and '84 is "1" then 2023 is the 40th year after)
  8. '83 is 41 years ago... '08 and '18 had mediocre to bad pitching staffs (and obviously '23 has a bad offense but that can change quickly....and it's easier to get lucky with a bad offense than a bad run prevention unit)
  9. In the last 40 years, Name 4 Brewers teams better than this one at the date of August 7th in that season...
  10. This is nice to hear....The O-line was already pretty set, and deep enough, but if he turns out to be a contributor all the merrier. On a side note, it's funny to me how quickly a guy like Zach Tom CLEARLY leap-frogged a guy like Sean Rhyan last year, and how frequently stuff like that happens (to be fair injuries are often a large part of things like that, but to my knowledge Rhyan was healthy all of last year).
  11. Kinda sad to see...a lot of former top 30 guys on this list, although 3 years ago the top 30 was kind of something to sneeze at, so whatever.
  12. Maybe...but clearly the coaching staff saw something they really didn't like this year and preferred other options (AM, AT, OM) to Luis. Depth is nice to have, but not THAT much depth and he was on the bottom of the totem pole.
  13. Fangraphs had him at #17 in The Sox system BEFORE the season. Also, Turang is a lefty with elite defense....a completely different role than Urias. If the Brewers think Monasterio and/or Toro are just as good as Urias, well, it's an easy decision to offload him before non-tendering him. He wasn't going to help us this year anyway.
  14. Blalock and McKendry are interesting adds who both must be on the 40 man this winter or exposed to the rule 5 draft. Interesting, and a great strategy if the Brewers have spots on the 40 open enough to absorb them. Likely picked them up on the cheap.
  15. This team has mojo...
  16. Well. They name 20 guys from our system other than the three I mentioned...and they give us 20 guys of their choosing from their system. Boom, done. It's not that hard. Give me half an hour and I could do it.
  17. Sure...and Shohei Ohtani is the most valuable 2 month rental in the history of baseball with a real chance to give a solid team like the Brewers a real chance to win the WS. I'll take the risk of what I have stated. The entire farm system other than Quero, JC and JM for 2 months and the playoffs of Ohtani.
  18. Outside of the 3 guys I mentioned, who do you think is actually more valuable than any number of dozens of guys available every March 30th of every year? EDIT: other than 1st year draftees, who I believe are ineligible to be traded anyway...
  19. Those guys are basically Blake Perkins and Abraham Toro...and Andrew Monasterio...and Tyrone Taylor...and Pablo Reyes, Keston Hiura, Ethan Small.... etc. etc. etc. Perhaps ONE of them becomes a Michael Brantley or Khris Davis or Nelson Cruz type guy....but which one? Give em all for Ohtani this year and a run at a title...
  20. Oops. I read forums from the bottom up so I responded to the other thread in kind. Basically, the Brewers should offer their ENTIRE farm other than Chourio, Misiorowski and Quero for Ohtani. Literally 15 or 20 of the next guys on the prospect list for Shohei.
  21. I was going to make the same comment although in a much more wordy and round-about way. After the last few trades by our front office, I can no longer predict anything. Hiura was literally offered to every team in the league for nothing (except a spot on their 26 man roster) and EVERY team declined. We traded a mediocre prospect no-hit Usain Bolt style CF (Ruiz) for a cornerstone young controllable C AND a high end reliever... Trade the ENTIRE farm (other than Chourio, Misiorowski and Quero) for Ohtani. It might work...(Frelick, Mitchell, Black, Small, Moore, Brown, Valerio, Uribe, Gasser, Ashby, Carlos Rodriguez, Carlos Rodriguez, Luis Lara, etc. etc. etc,)
  22. Anybody who says they'd rather have Hader (and his $14M salary...for ONLY this year) rather than Contreras for 4 more years, Payamps for 3 more years and Gasser for 6 more years is not the sharpest tool in the shed. Hader's August last year would have submarined our year anyway. OTOH, nobody knows what Hader would have fetched last offseason rather than at the deadline. Still, I'm happy with how things worked out.
  23. Double up on the corner sticks! Take Morales...no way both Wilken and Morales wash out...
  24. Will Christian Opper be our yearly JC pick? Maybe tomorrow?
