  1. He was a flopper in that he forced officials to make calls in situations that normally would have been no-calls if nobody hit the floor. I'm torn on the whole debate, as basketball is literally supposed to be a non-contact sport. If the offensive player initiates contact toward a defender that is rightfully an offensive foul. Literally if a defensive player keeps his feet in position and an offensive player nudges his upper body the defender is going to either have to step back to right himself or he is going to fall over. What if the defender just kept their feet in position and slowly toppled over? Would that get a call? I kind of wish guys would just do this, instead of launching themselves backward onto their butt or back like they got hit by car...aka drawing a charge/flopping. It would look really weird though, and I doubt it would get any calls.
  2. It's possible that the Brewer offense is even better than they "should" be against mediocre pitching and worse than they "should" be against good pitching. That would lead to higher "clutch" numbers or "lucky" sequencing to get runs but poor overall numbers-- and yet it would not necessarily mean it is random or unsustainable. It wouldn't bode well for the playoffs though.
  3. Knebel struck out the side on 10 pitches in a 1-0 save situation throwing 97 mph. Crawford seems light for a return. We'll see.
  4. Day off tomorrow against your main division rival. 86 EASY pitches from Burnes. You at least keep Burnes in for another 15 pitches.
  5. Ridiculous. completely stoopid. Against your main division rival. Start Burnes in the 7th...if he gets in trouble bring in DWill. If not, great, bring in DWill in the 8th. Hader the 9th. day off tomorrow. How is this hard?
  6. I got the middle tier since it included MLB Network...and the freebies HBO for a year and NBA League pass. I am curious if the cheapest package included Ballys though?
  7. Odd indeed. My reaction is merely, "huh." And yet, if the Badgers were to bring in a transfer player with Reuvers' profile I'd be super excited.
  8. I thought it looked really good and was very easy to read. Yeah, I actually liked it better than the box in the corner too.
  9. It isn't just that. Many local cable services dropped the RSN from their packages altogether so cable doesn't work either. My parents are in that camp. I did finally gat signed up for ATT TV and am happy with the product so far, even if it is a bit more expensive than I think it should be.
  10. I TRIED to sign up for ATT TV this morning for like an hour. NO luck. Apparently I have an old ATT account/email that is dormant. I reactivated that account and verified that account, but whenever I try to buy the TV package it tells me that I already have an account. Apparently they don't want my money.
  11. Well, before they signed Moose and Grandal the 2019 team wasn't looking good enough to truly contend. After they signed those guys, sure hold onto Hader and go for it. Even still had they traded him at the deadline in 2019 when the regression of Cain, Shaw and Aguilar was apparent and losing Moose and Grandal in the upcoming offseason was a foregone conclusion it probably would have been worth it. After he became a Super 2 and his dominance slowly waned (although still among the best in the league), then it is/was too late to get anything significant for him.
  12. We're a couple years too late now, so we might as well hold onto him and use him to win now. Unfortunately, we don't have a lot going for us in the minors, so I fear that this Yeli-Hiura-Woodruff-Burnes window is going to be pretty short and not quite good enough to make any real noise. I think the time was 2 years ago when we could have restocked our farm (and now team) a la the Carlos Gomez trade. Our future would be much brighter if that was the case. We aren't going to win anything significant by signing stopgap players for half the roster every season. At some point we need to trade away talent to get LOTS of YOUNG unproven talent back. And, of course, we need about a 4 year window where we get a bunch of hits in the draft.
  13. No one is going to trade for Arcia because he tried playing some CF. Amen. If Arcia hasn’t cut it at SS for 5 seasons, nobody is going to look at 40 innings in CF and say AH HA we need that guy on our team. It’s so obviously transparent (and idiotic) for the Brewers to try him in CF that it’s almost insulting. Sure, if he isn't very good at other positions. However, if he is a plus CF defensively his value skyrockets. It's one thing to have a utility guy who CAN play anywhere, it's quite another to have a guy play WELL everywhere. That said, I don't expect anything special out of him defensively in the OF. He just isn't quite naturally fast enough. Good arm and instincts though.
  14. I agree with everything said here. The problem is that R/G or R/inning hasn't changed much, despite the aesthetic changes. Pitching has gotten MUCH MUCH better in the last 30 years, and analytics has kept up with this change by adding more power/OBP to EVERY position on the field (at the expense of contact/AVG/entertainment). Not sure what the answer is.
  15. YES! JUST give me a TRUE sports package (+TNT and TBS for NBA/baseball and NCAAs)...and local over the air networks. Why can't this be done for $50 or less? It's like there is this huge gap between going cheap $25-$30 per month where you don't get what you want, and then there is going hyper-deluxe for $125-$200 per month where you get a ridiculous amount of channels and content that you don't want. It shouldn't be that hard.
  16. What is the point of the mound, anyway? Get rid of video, get rid of the mound...
  17. He's 197 RBIs away from Hank Aaron's record. Not impossible in 2 years with Trout and Rendon hitting in front of you, even if you are not very good.
  18. Sure. My eyes tell me that this is a streaky shooting team that relies upon knocking down 3 pointers to score a lot of points. This team RARELY struggles to get open looks, but can at times miss those open looks en masse (most losses this year). They can also make those looks en masse (Louisville game). When a team can't find decent looks (the 2013 team often had many desperate possessions) then it is a poor offense. I don't see that very often from this team--the 2nd half of the Michigan game being the exception. Also: this is a very good defensive team, but excellent offenses have shown the ability to find a vulnerability and exploit it again and again. UW's best defenses could even shut down the best offenses, or at least make them struggle mightily. This unit pretty much can only do that against mediocre teams.
  19. Everybody always says this...and everybody said this about Kobe King for 2+ years...then when King left the team won 8 in row. I love Davis and he is already a much much better player than King at almost every facet of the game, I'm just saying that the ability to create one-on-one shots is over-rated. I think the main problem is exactly the opposite. There isn't enough man movement and ball movement to make defenses work. Everything is a high pick and roll or a post feed to Potter.
  20. I'm really down on this team. While your statement is certainly true, I see this team as more like the 2013 team that went one and done, losing to Marshall Henderson and Ole Miss 57-46. I don't think the matchup mattered in that game. The team played so badly that they would have lost to just about anyone. I mean, Henderson was 1 of 13 at one point, Ole Miss only scored 57 on offense while doing nothing special on defense, and that team was never in the game. This team is capable of that type of performance. Consider that in the Iowa game that guys not named Potter went 3-27 on TWO point shots. They have just not been fun nor exciting to watch. That team went 4-0 against national runner-up Michigan and a top 10 Indiana team with Zeller and Oladipo. It had one of the best defenses in the kenpom/efficiency era. And was absolutely terrible on offense. This team is much better offensively than that team. And much worse defensively. The second half against Michigan (and the first Michigan game) was one of the only times I really thought the offense struggled to get decent looks. They just have to go down. Everybody is a streaky shooter...hopefully they all get hot at once.
  21. If UW, MIN, or PUR are on the 8 or 9 line opposite Gonzaga it will be a very tempting upset pick. Hopefully UW will win a game or two and stay away from that line. I'm hoping for a 7 seed opposite Houston as the 2 seed...
  22. Even if they lose their the last 5 games the evidence points toward "decent team." The kind of team I'm very proud of cheering for if this is considered one of UWs "down" years. Plus, it ain't over yet.
