  1. I think Seattle would hang up pretty quickly. Paxton, although he isn't as good as Walker and Hultzen, still has good stuff and has a chance to be a #2/3 starter. Nick Franklin is a solid SS prospect with a good chance at sticking at SS, which is valuable in itself, not to mention that he has a pretty good bat to boot. Hart, although he has a very good bat that can help out the Mariners, is under contract for one more year and it's not a guarantee that he'll extend with Seattle. Gennett, although a solid prospect, doesn't have the upside of Franklin.
  2. Ah, sorry about sounding a little snarky there. I have to remember not to post on the forums 10 minutes after waking up. But still I'm just a little wary about Lee's age. Although some pitchers actually do really well in their mid-30s and beyond, not many do. And Hart + Gomez + 2 high end prospects seem a lot to give up.
  3. I'm glad you're not the GM of the Brewers. Lee's also getting old, and even though he's under contract until 2015, it won't be long until there's some significant decline.
  4. Halladay's too old, too expensive, and isn't gonna stay too long. I'm actually getting tired of 1-year rentals. And most likely Hart, Gomez, and a random minor leaguer wouldn't net them Halladay anyway.
  5. I'd actually like to see the Brewers draft some pitchers. Sure they have good depth with pitching in the minors, but not much in terms of guys with eye-popping stuff, especially in the lower minors. Peralta's gonna be graduating into the majors soon and Hellweg and Nelson could be following in a short time. I'm quite intrigued by Jordan Sheffield, but his commitment to Vanderbilt could cause him to come with a high price tag, and possibly more than the Brewers are willing to pay for. Ryan Eades also sounds nice but his stuff hasn't translated to results and from the videos I've seen from him the arm action seems a little concerning. Jonathan Crawford probably will be taken before the Brewers pick Clinton Hollon sounds nice as well.
  6. The Brewers already have Jean Segura. They have no use for Yuni. Of course there is the chance they're considering him as a backup, which still isn't very useful but isn't as detrimental.
  7. There's Colin Moran, but I doubt he'll be around by the time the Brewers pick. There's also Trey Williams
  8. Maybe. It's concerning that he's put up pedestrian numbers during his time in the majors and that he hasn't pitched a full season in the majors yet. However, his stuff is pretty good and he has shown success in the minors. If the Brewers do decide to trade Hart to the Rangers, perhaps they'll be able to get Martin Perez, and perhaps along with Nomar Mazara and/or Wilmer Font?
  9. I don't think any of the teams you mentioned would give anyone significant for Ramirez. Yes, he hits 20+ home runs every year and provides solid glove at 3B, but he's 34 years old already. He's bound to drop off at some point.
  10. Much less. I know it isn't gonna be as good, but a trade would still be pretty good, IMO.
  11. So far this offseason there's been some pretty outrageous trades. The Rays get Myers, Odorizzi, and Montgomery for Shields and Davis. The Indians get Bauer for Choo Mets get D'Arnaud and Syndergaard for Dickey and Thole. The pattern's pretty similar, one team trades good established players who are close to free agency to get very good prospects. Hart seems to follow a similar profile of a veteran who does well and is close to free agency. If the pattern continues, then the Brewers could net some pretty good prospects if they do decide to trade Hart. I hope Melvin isn't stubbornly going win-now and actually considers the idea of trading Hart. Doesn't mean that he HAS to, but if someone gives him a good offer, he at least would have to consider it.
  12. If the Mets got 2 really good prospects for Dickey, I wonder what the Brewers could get for Hart.
  13. If only Dayton Moore ran the Mariners. Then the Brewers would be trading Hart and Thornburg for Walker, Paxton, and Hultzen.
  14. I think he was saying that to state that Hart's trade value would be improved because the team who trades for Hart could also get the comp pick if the trade is done this offseason. I do agree that the Choo deal helps the Brewers if they are looking to trade Hart. I'd be really happy with a Top 10 prospect in return for Hart, so I would hope that Melvin uses the Choo deal as leverage and lands someone who can be a core player for Milwaukee for a long time. I think one match for Hart would be the Mariners because their lineup has been pretty atrocious. They could use a power hitter like Hart. If the Brewers were to trade Hart to the Mariners, perhaps they could ask for James Paxton?
  15. But still, the Mariners would be giving up a top-notch pitching prospect for a 1-year rental, oft-injured possible bullpen arm, and something like the 43rd pick in the next draft, which doesn't seem to be a fair trade either.
  16. I'd also rather have Segura than Bauer. To the Brewers, Bauer would be one of those guys that would be nice to have but wouldn't be needed. Meanwhile, without Segura the Brewers would have to scramble to find a decent option at SS, and a long-term option as well.
  17. This trade makes me wonder what the Brewers can do by trading Hart. Probably won't get a top-10 prospect, but it really makes me wonder if they would be able to get an above-average prospect.
  18. This reminds me of a fairly recent Brewers signing. All Brewer fans scream in horror Except that Holland is capable of throwing his fastball above 90mph.
  19. Why not just get a decent pitcher by trading Hart rather than just trading Hart as a salary dump to afford a decent pitcher on the FA market?
  20. NO NO NO If the Brewers are not rebuilding, why trade away their best pitcher?
  21. Some players that I'm intrigued by as of right now: Aaron Judge Colin Moran Jordan Sheffield Clinton Hollon.
  22. How about Rich Harden? He's coming off an injury so he should be pretty cheap. Maybe the Brewers can give him an incentive-laden deal. Even if Harden doesn't stay healthy, the Brewers still have enough depth with the pitching to fill in.
  23. A little OT, but last night I dreamt that the Brewers were trading for Trevor Bauer.
  24. There are some good rock bands out there right now. I really like Five Finger Death Punch, Halestorm, Stone Sour, and Staind. Lzzy Hale from Halestorm reminds me a lot of Pat Benatar but with a better voice (my opinion). Huh, that's a pretty good song. Wonder how some people believe that dubstep, Justin Bieber, and One Direction are any better than stuff like this.
  25. The music of today, including dub-step, disappoints me very much. I much prefer listening to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Queen, and Pink Floyd over any of the "popular" crap of today.
