  1. Yea this seems fine. I don't really get what the big deal is
  2. Losing trade value isn't just performance based but time of control as well. Next offseason Burnes, Woodruff, & Adames would likely have significantly less value from the pure fact that the team trading for them will only get 1 year as opposed to 2. That's even before factoring in the performance or injury issues by each of 3.
  3. Why would it have been terrible? Adames, Burnes, & Woodruff have each seemingly hurt their trade value this year. The Brewers sit at 34-34 right now. Whats their record if none of those 3 are on the roster? Those 3 have combined for 2.5 wins so far this season. So if we replace them with guys who provide 0 WAR and round 2.5 up to 3 were looking at 31 wins instead. Maybe Adames or Burnes perform better than they have or maybe Woodruff comes back healthy but it seems like they could have gotten a good haul for each of the 3 this past offseason and not been that much worse off for it
  4. I'm pretty surprised at the vitriol towards the USMNTs decision to bring back Berhalter. I'm no soccer expert so I'm sure there are tactical decisions and strategies that can be 2nd guessed, but looking at purely the results of his tenure it's hard to say he hasn't been successful. He took over in 2019 after the disaster of missing the World Cup and has had pretty good success. They won the Gold Cup in 2021, tied for their best ever performance in the World Cup Group stage and then lost to a really good Netherlands team. The US was ranked 25th when he took over and has risen to 13th passing both Germany & Mexico on the way. He has the best ever winning % for a coach is USMNT history. I know there is the whole blackmail incident with Reyna's parents, but that says more to me about them than it does him. I'm not sure what I'm missing here and why I'm seeing this hire being called terrible, a disaster, etc.
  5. There was a lot of consternation among the fan base for the Brewers not extending any of the Big 3(Burnes, Woodruff, Adames) this past offseason. But it appears the real question is if Arnold should have traded the Big 3 away. All 3 of their values have seemingly taken significant hits since the offseason due to poor performance(Burnes & Adames) or injury(Woodruff). On top of that I'm not sure the Brewers would be in a significantly different place in the standings had we traded all 3 away. It certainly would have been very unpopular among the fan base had they done it, but atleast to me, it seems Arnold should have dealt all 3
  6. Not sure it's entirely true considering the source, but Woelfel is reporting the Bucks offered the HC job to both Monty Williams & Kelvin Sampson but got turned down. He's also the only to report so far that Vin Baker & Josh Oppenheimer will be returning to the staff https://woelfelspressbox.com/2023/06/sources-at-least-two-coaches-rejected-bucks-head-coaching-job/
  7. A few things that stood out to me Offensively he discussed wanting to pass more often and create offense through those passes, what's interesting is Stotts has typically run a version of offense that isn't very pass happy, his offenses typically finished near the bottom of the league in assists so I'm curious to see how that plays out Defensively he mentioned high pressure, high turnovers. Which I like the idea but doesn't exactly seem to fit Brook's skillset(who he also specifically mentioned working with so it seems a good bet he'll be back). So I'm curious how he'll fit Brook into that style of defense Some other things that stood out -I loved how he mentioned the need to strike a balance in the Regular season and that the regular season is all about prepping for "April, May, & June" -He discussed creating transition offense which by itself is fine, but I do remember seeing studies done that showed that offenses that were predicated on transition opportunities and/or drawing alot of FTs tended to struggle more in the playoffs when the game becomes more dependent on the Halfcourt execution. I'm not sure he meant to go that in detail about it but it's something I'll be keeping my eye on throughout the season
  8. Super cool story for him. He's been raking in AAA. That said another lefty 1b seems weird but I guess not many options
  9. Nehm reported tonight that the Bucks are looking at Terry Stotts and/or James Borrego for spots on his bench. Also said Griffin has signed his contract and has been in Milwaukee all week. He will be making 4 mil a year reportedly. Not sure what the delay is though in making it official and holding the press conference
  10. Alot of people questioned Arnold's offseason and specifically how he built the bullpen. I think he's been fairly justified throughout the 1st 2 months. Now granted a few acquisitions didn't work(Guerra, Varland) but quite a few have been great so far including Wilson, Peguero, and his faith in Strzelecki. But I think Payamps has been the best of the bullpen moves by far. He's really become a fireman that can get us out of jams, the inherited runner stat is insanely good(and likely due to regress a bit). But overall I think a huge reason we are in 1st is because of our Bullpen and Arnold deserves a ton of praise for that
  11. I initially voted B, but as I think about it I agree with Playing Catch, an A seems warranted. I know most teams have injuries but it does feels the Brewers have had more than their fair share with having 4 of their top 6 SP hit the IL, plus Urias, Mitchell, & Frelick. It's true Voit & Winker have been awful but they've also nailed some of their offseason acquisitions like Owen Miller, Contreras, Payamps, Peguero, & Miley. Overall they are in 1st place with the 3rd highest playoff odds in the NL, it's hard to ask for much more than that.
  12. Griffin was accused of some really bad stuff by his ex wife.
  13. 1. Nurse 2. Kenny Given his history Griffin shouldn't even be an option
  14. Not with his DV past, that should be an automatic disqualifer imo
  15. As pointed out earlier in this thread the Brewers have a recent history of giving up on pitchers too soon
  16. Many guys struggle during rehab assignments. Judging someone based on a rehab assignment also feels misguided. He was a successful pitcher before the injury and has even worked himself into some setup roles. I'd have liked to see him get a chance to come back from that rather than toss him out after one admittedly horrible outing
  17. Judging a guy based on one appearance instead of his other 8 seems misguided
  18. We are talking about a very small sample of 8 outings. If we were going to give up on him after 8 mostly good outings what was even the point of keeping him. Before his injury he looked really good. Maybe seeing if he could get back to that would have been nice rather than casting him aside after 1 terrible outing
  19. I don't like that the Brewers seemingly gave up on Varland after 1 terrible outing. Yes it was God awful. But his era outside of that 1 outing was 2.25. He genuinely looked like he had great stuff.
  20. this was from before yesterdyesterday's game. After yesterday's performance Yelich is on pave for 4.6 WAR
  21. That Yelich number is quite surprising and encouraging
  22. I'd take a chance on him over Voit at this point considering how bad Voit has been
  23. Contreras already lost the starting catcher job, yikes
  24. Turang is tied with Yelich for the 4th best WAR among position players. Now maybe when Urias comes back you send him down for 2 weeks to gain that extra year of control, but he's hardly been bad and I have zero confidence Toro would be any better at all. Young players are going to go through growing pains and that's ok
