  1. It's also worth pointing out the Brewers were 3rd in MLB in Home Runs last season, for fans who want a more "balanced offense" with guys getting on base, stealing bases, etc. replacing Renfroe with the young OFs likely moves us in that direction
  2. This is a good trade, Renfroe was really good for us and I enjoyed him here, but dealing away 1 year of a 31 year old OF coming off a career season for 3 young controllable pitchers is the exact type of move the Brewers should be making. You are selling high on an asset, while simultaneously opening up ABs for your young OFs like Frelick, Ruiz, Mitchell, Wiemer, and eventually Chourio, not too mention adding 3 pitchers who have a shot to help the club this year either in the pen or as rotation depth(something we really lacked last season). We also don't need to act like the offseason is over on Nov 23. If the Brewers go into next season with a payroll down 20-30 million from last year then I'll agree with some of the negative takes. But let's see the offseason play out first
  3. The Brewers have a slew of OFs in AAA ready to make an impact in the Majors. Opening up ABs for them while dealing away a guy with 1 year left of control and acquiring 3 young pitchers seems like a solid move
  4. Yelich is the highest paid player on the team and is still a good hitter(111 OPS+), he'll be in the lineup
  5. Ah yes, I forgot pitchers stop developing after 6.1 innings in the Major Leagues
  6. I don't see the big deal with the Singleton addition. He mashed righties in AAA last season and I doubt the Brewers are just handing him a starting job. He'll probably given a chance to earn PT in spring training, then if he makes the team it'll probably be as a backup or in a pinch hitter role. If he doesn't produce he'll likely be given the boot early on or not even make the squad if he has a poor spring.

  8. Against righties, Singleton had a .400+ OBP & .500+ SLG. It's a weird add but there is a path to Singleton getting PT
  9. Against righties, Singleton had a .400+ OBP & .500+ SLG. It's a weird add but there is a path to Singleton getting PT
  10. Frelick played in 46 games in AAA, Wiemer in 43. Give them a chance to earn a spot sure but there is no need to rush them either.
  11. If you factor in the $2 million buyout it really was an $8 million team option. A 114 OPS+ 2nd basemen is a very solid deal for $8 million
  12. Stearns had 1 year left on his contract, my guess is Mark A reached out to begin extension talks and Stearns told him he'd rather be back in New York where he is from. As for impact on thr Brewers I doubt this changes much, Arnold came over with Stearns from the beginning so I'm sure their philosophy is very similar. Arnold did originally come from Tampa who almost never keeps their big name players and has constant roster turnover so it will be a little interesting to see if Arnold is more aggressive at willing to sell players like Burnes, Woodruff, Adames, etc.
  13. The Brewers are 10th in Defensive Runs Saved, 9th in Runs per game, & 13th in team ERA. While not elite in any one of the 3 phases they are above average in all 3 phases
  14. I could be open to the idea of taking a step back in 2023, dealing Burnes, Woodruff, and Renfroe. Giving the rookies a chance and then filling in in 2024 what we need. Similar to what we did from 2017 to 2018. I think even without Woodruff and Burnes we could be respectable
  15. I'm fascinated to see what direction the Front Office takes this offseason. Almost assuredly 1 of Burnes, Woodruff, Lauer, or Houser is dealt in order to open up a spot for Ashby fulltime. Do they deal 2 or 3 though to try and maximize their return and then either sign a vet FA or give Small a real chance in the rotation? Not to mention Gasser who might start next season in Nashville. At Catcher Feliciano will have 1 option remaining, do they start him in AAA and pair Caritini with a vet catcher(Severino perhaps) or do they give Feliciano a chance to stick in the bigs? Turang seems likely to get a shot next season, but do they give him the keys as the 2b or do they give him more of a Jace role to begin? The outfield is probably the most fascinating to me. With Frelick, Mitchell, Ruiz, and Wiemer all knocking on the door to the Big leagues do they deal away Taylor or Renfroe to open up a spot? Do they move Yelich to DH fulltime? And on top of this what is their timeline projection with any of these prospects? Do they try and keep them down long enough to gain that extra year of service time or do they start some in the majors from day 1 to see if any can win ROY which would earn the Brewers some extra picks in the draft. If they do start them in the minors then they will need someone in the bigs temporarily, who could they get as a short term stop gap? With the plethora of prospects seemingly able to make an impact at the Major League Level next season, it makes the offseason fascinating
  16. Considering rosters only expand to 28 now instead of up to 40 like before, I think that makes it unlikely we see Frelick this year. Jace coming back will take a spot and then I think Turang & Ruiz are both ahead of Frelick in terms of call ups. I think it would take a pretty significant spate of injuries for Frelick to see ML time this season
  17. I understand why you asked and totally understandable. My theory in leaving him off was he'd either be traded or DFAd. But it's almost assuredly more likely someone is on the IL or only one of Frelick/Mitchell/Wiemer gets the call to the Majors that quickly. As for Turang I think the fact that we haven't called him up this year speaks to their belief in him. I don't think they'll be ready to handover an everyday job to him next year and that his long term career will be in that Jace Peterson type role of playing multiple positions but starting multiple times a week
  18. To answer both questions about Hiura & Jace. I expect the Brewers basically replace Jace with Turang unless Jace comes back super cheap. As for Hiura, realistically there will probably be some sort of injury to someone that will open a spot and if not then whoever isn't producing gets moved on from. That could be Hiura or someone else. Also possible that only one of the Frelick. Mitchell, Wiemer group gets called up that quick and one could possibly be traded this offseason for pitching
  19. I don't expect any of Turang/Frelick/Mitchell/or Wiemer to break camp with the Crew as the Brewers will want to delay their debuts so they get that extra year of control. I do think Taylor probably starts the year as our CF with Ruiz the 4th OFer. Then I think Turang and Frelick will probably be up in short order after the season begins and if either Wiemer or Mitchell force the issue or if we have injuries to any outfielders one of them will be up. I expect we sign a decent 3b and move Urias to 2nd Opening Day C Caritini 1b Rowdy 2b Urias SS Adames 3b FA LF Yelich CF Taylor RF Renfroe DH Hiura Bench: Ruiz, Vet FA utility, Severino, Brosseau 2 months into the season C Caritini/Severino 1b Rowdy 2b Urias SS Adames 3B FA LF Mitchell or Wiemer CF Frelick RF Renfroe DH Yelich Bench: Ruiz, Brosseau, Taylor, Severino
  20. 1. Jackson Chourio 2. Sal Frelick 3. Joey Wiemer 4. Tyler Black 5. Ethan Small 6. Robert Gasser 7. Jefferson Quero 8. Jacob Misiorowski 9. Esteury Ruiz 10. Garrett Mitchell 11. Brice Turang 12. Hendry Mendez 13. Eric Brown 14. Jace Avina 15. Felix Valerio 16. Hedbert Perez 17. Mario Feliciano 18. Eduardo Garcia 19. Jakson Reetz 20. Johan Barrios 21.. Jhonny Severino 22. Luis Lara 23. Logan Henderson 24. Robert Moore 25. Russ Smith 26. Abner Uribe 27. Zavier Warren 28. Victor Castaneda 29. Joe Gray Jr 30. Freddy Zamora
  21. We did focus on quality, we got two top ten org prospects which is what I think we should have expected this upcoming offseason. Stearns called Gasser one of the top pitching prospects in baseball. If the trade in the offseason was Hader for Gasser/Ruiz I'd have zero issues with it. The issue with the trade is the timing
  22. The value of this trade was fine, the timing of it was terrible and seems to have really effected the morale of this team. I'm not sure there is any disputing that right now
  23. Of course the day after the Brewers DFA Severino, Omar heads to the IL. I do find it interesting that Feliciano was called up instead of Alex Jackson
  24. That was from a parody account. It wasn't true
