  2. But he is the only one people bring up. You say you aren't blaming him alone but where is the complaining in this thread about Wong or Cain or Taylor? Once the games start it doesn't matter who makes how much.
  3. Debating whether he is leaving up to his contract and whether he's the problem with the offense are 2 totally different things and can be mutually exclusive. He has absolutely not lived up to his contract, that I agree on but he's also not the reason the offense is 23rd in runs scored. That falls to the guys who so far have laid an egg
  4. Yelich deserves just as much blame as McCutchen. Stop looking at who gets paid what or what the "expectations" were before the season. Once the season starts we have 9 spots in the lineup to fill and Yelich takes up one of those 9. Yelich hasn't been great but he also hasn't been the main problem. The problem is so far we've gotten almost nothing out of 4 spots in our order(RF, CF, 3b, & 2b). You blame Yelich for not carrying everyone whose struggling but I tend to blame the actual guys who are struggling.
  5. Sure, I understand that point, you've made it plenty of times. What I'm saying is if we are talking about what has happened so far this season then we should focus more on the guys who have been outright bad like Renfroe, Wong, Taylor, Cain, and the 3b platoon instead of focusing on Yelich
  6. I never expect a sweep but no reason we shouldn't take 2 of 3 from Pittsburgh with Burnes and Woodruff pitching 2 of the 3. We face 3 righties this series so I'll be curious how Counsell utilizes his lineup. Would expect Cutch to maybe get his 1st day off sometime this series.
  7. But that is my point, instead of focusing on what was expected we should focus on actual production. We have had 3 above average hitters so far, a few slightly below average guys, and a whole bunch of duds early on. All this talk of Yelich because of what was "expected" and he's tied for our 4th best hitter. The problem with our lineup has been the lack of production from Renfroe, Wong, Taylor, Cain, and the 3b platoon. Now I do believe they will turn it around, but those guys have been a much bigger reason for why we aren't scoring runs then Yelich has been
  8. We get it, you think the Brewers should have signed Castellanos. But let's talk about the offense we have right now. Yelich hasn't been great, but he also isn't the reason they are struggling. He's tied for our 4th best hitter but everyone only wants to talk about him. He should probably get moved to leadoff but guys like Renfroe, Wong, Taylor, the 3b platoon, and especially Cain are much bigger reasons why our offense is struggling so far
  9. There has been a ton of talk about Yelich, and admittedly he hasn't been great but he's been far from awful too. Below are the OPS+ for our current hitters Caritini 187 Tellez 151 Narvaez 110 Yelich/McCutchen 91 Adames 80 Hiura 78 Brosseau 68 Renfroe 59 Wong 55 Taylor 50 Jace 19 Cain 2 So far we have 3 above average hitters and 2 of them have been catchers. Yelich & McCutchen have been slightly below average and it gets worse from there. Especially guys like Renfroe, Wong, Taylor, Cain, and our 3b platoon are really dragging us down. I do expect all of those to improve(Caritini and Rowdy will likely regress) but I think we are focusing on the wrong guys so far
  10. I second this
  11. So then what's the point of saying things like we have a bottom 10 lineup or our lineup is one of the worst in the league if you don't actually believe that. If you said something like we have an average lineup but I'm not sure it'll be good enough wouldn't solicit such harsh responses and we could have a genuine discussion on it, but instead you choose to use exaggerated rhetoric over and over again
  12. I'm not saying the Brewers have an elite lineup. I'm asking you to back up your statements with facts. You have repeatedly said things like we have one of the worst lineups in baseball or our lineup is a bottom 10 lineup. I want to see what facts you are using to come to that conclusion.
  13. If you are going to say things like they are a bottom 10 lineup in baseball please show some facts as to how you got to that conclusion. Again they were 12th in runs scored in MLB last year, so how do they fall into the bottom 10?
  14. Glad they got the win. A .500 road trip isn't awful, I will be really curious who Counsell leans on tomorrow out of the pen if they have a lead, I would assume Hader, Williams, and Boxberger will all be unavailable
  15. Teams move games all the time for various reasons. The Orioles are under zero obligation to help the Brewers but that doesn't stop it from being a crappy thing to do on the Orioles part. Fwiw in April 2019 there was almost no correlation between day and night games for attendance in Baltimore. The Orioles have always been a crappy organization and have proven it time and time again, this just adds in a minor way to that list. But it is relatively minor so I'm going to drop it from here so we can discuss the actual game being played tonight
  16. One thing I've seen alot of people complain about is the Brewers signing Cutch to be their DH, so I went and looked at who every other NL team started at DH on opening day Cubs- Rafael Ortego Cardinals- Albert Pujols Pirates- Dan Vogelbach Reds- Mike Moustakes Mets- JD Davis Braves- Alex Dickerson Marlins- Jesus Aguilar Nationals- Nelson Cruz Phillies- Nick Castellanos Giants- Darin Ruf Dodgers- Justin Turner Diamondbacks- Seth Beer Padres- Luke Voit Rockies- Connor Joe So how many of those guys are better than what we signed with Cutch? Castellanos & Cruz are probably the only 2 surefire and even Cruz has significant age risk and could fall off at anytime
  17. How dare the Brewers want to have their own home opener be played as a day game as is customary. You are correct in that the Orioles didn't have to agree to move the game, it's still a crappy move on the part of the Orioles. Remember the Orioles are also the same team who a few years ago refused to move their game from a night game to a day game so the Ravens could open up the NFL Season at home after winning the Superbowl and instead the Ravens had to open on the road in Denver
  18. In 2018 the Brewers were 12th in runs scored at 4.63 runs per game, in 2021 the Brewers were 12th in runs scored at 4.56 runs per game. Last years offense was basically identical in production to 2018, a year where few were complaining about our offense
  19. I fail to see how this is the Brewers fault. Like you said this wasn't originally scheduled to be their home opener, it was scheduled to be a random Thursday night game. But because it is the home opener they moved the time up as is customary with most home openers. The Orioles could have agreed to push the game time up as I'm sure the Brewers would have preferred but Baltimore decided to keep it as a night game
  20. Pittsburgh did the same thing. Played at 4:12 on 4/12, their area code is 412
  21. If they can pull this one out they'll finish with a .500 road trip which isn't ideal but definitely not a disaster. The key is obviously to get the W tonight
  22. I think there is a large difference between saying this offense might not be elite versus saying this offense is one of the worst in all of baseball which I have seen some posters claim. I don't think anybody is trying to say the Brewers as currently constructed have a top 5 offense in MLB, but they were 12th in runs scored last season(were just outside top 5 after the Adames trade) and the only major changes in the offseason were to replace Avi for Renfroe(they had very similar seasons last year) and to add McCutchen. So this doom and gloom some posters are stating about having one of the worst offenses in all of MLB really seems unfounded and honestly perplexing.
  23. Apparently Yu Darvish sucks now without Caritini there. 1.2 IP 9 ER tonight
  24. Lol cause 4 games is clearly a sample size worth judging and adjusting your priors over. Or cherry picking specific parts of last season
  25. "I see no possible chance we finish in the top 12 offensively this season, but we shall see" that's a quote from you earlier in this thread. They finished 12th in runs scored per game last year. If you see no possible chance that happens again then you believe they are going to be worse than last season
