  1. And it is certainly possible they will. Right now Devin is the closer and some combo of Bush/Strezlecki/Guerra are likely your main set up guys. But even just having to dip into the minors for guys it seems Arnold completely overhauled the guys on "the shuttle"
  2. An underrated part of the Brewers offseason so far is Matt Arnold adding depth to the Brewers bullpen. Adding guys like Junk, Peguero, Seminaris, Guerra, Varland, Payamps & Yeager, plus young prospects like Uribe & Cam Robinson. Our bullpen could be drastically different in 2023 If you believe that Frelick & Turang can put up similar WAR to Renfroe & Wong then we added nearly all of that depth without diminishing the rest of the roster.
  3. I mean Ruiz was graded on almost all prospect lists behind Chourio, Frelick, Mitchell, & Wiemer. I do think there is something to Ruiz being slightly undervalued due to stolen bases becoming a bigger part of the game going forward but even considering that there is almost no chance his value was that of a 25 year old All Star Catcher who is under control for another 5 seasons, let alone 2 pitchers on top of that
  4. That sure is a lot of maybe's and might's you seem to be counting on
  5. I believe he said something along the lines of they underestimated the clubhouse impact. The trade itself was a success, they got the better pitcher for those last 2 months and 2 pretty good prospects in Gasser & Ruiz.
  6. Health is certainly a risk, I'll give you that
  7. That part I disagree with, I don't believe the value difference in the return between this offseason and next is substantial enough to move either of them a year early
  8. Just another data point towards the Brewers not extending Burnes or Woodruff
  9. To me signing a free agent is almost always better than trading unless the player you are trading for is cost controlled for awhile when given the choice. Example, signing Vasquez simply costs you money and nothing else. Whereas trading for Jansen will require some decent prospects as well as paying him a market extension or him leaving. Given that the choice would be either you have Vasquez & your prospects or just Jansen I'll take Vasquez & prospects. Now granted this doesn't always work, sometimes there aren't any good Free agents at your position of need or whatever. But when given the option of two similar choices I'll always choose to just sign the free agent
  10. There are numerous players already in the Hall who took Steroids, Greenies, etc. Unless we are removing those players then Bonds, Sosa, Clemens, etc. should be in
  11. I think it's likely Turang starts in AAA. Considering he's unlikely to be a top 100 guy the upside to him starting in the Bigs is limited as opposed to keeping him in AAA for a few weeks to get another year of control
  12. I think it's likely the Brewers open the season with all 3 of Burnes, Woodruff, & Adames and that 2 of the 3 likely get dealt next offseason and 1 of them extended(Adames seems the most likely) What could change that is if the Mets miss out on Verlander/Rodon and offer a kings ransom for Woodruff or Burnes
  13. I feel like the 2023 upside is if Winker can bounce back to his 2020 or 2021 version of play. He was outstanding those seasons and would have been our best bat last year. Toro feels like the new Jace. Could start the year in a platoon with Brosseau until Turang comes up
  14. I still find it extremely likely the Brewers deal one of Lauer or Houser before the season and with their FA prices it would seem like the Brewers would be likely to get back a decent haul
  15. And they could have just kept giving at bats to Lorenzo Cain who had an OPS+ of 34. Mitchell was still in AA at the time of the Cain move
  16. If you want to see why the Brewers traded for pitching depth this deal is why. 3/40 for Eflin is wild
  17. I sort of agree but when you are talking about an entire extra for about 2 weeks it's way too logical to leave the guy in the minors for those 2 weeks. I hate that the system is set up that way
  18. This was my first thought. A perfect stop gap 5th OF to have in the bigs until Frelick & Wiemer are "ready"(AKA service time). Then after a few weeks and a handful of starts he'll go back to AAA
  19. Where are you getting 26th ranked prospect? He was 16th by MLB Pipeline and slid in as the 14th ranked prospect in the Brewers system
  20. 3rd in both with a .350 OBP & .448 SLG
  21. The Brewers had the 2nd best OPS with RISP & the 14th most strikeouts. They were pretty good in RISP situations
  22. Ah yes, the Brewers under the current regime have been terrible at identifying & developing pitchers
