  1. I do get the feeling Ruiz will be up in short order(2 weeks or so). It's not uncommon for teams who acquire young players to send them to the minors first to get acclimated with the organization.
  2. Lamet being DFA'd is a little surprising to me but not overly so. He always felt like a guy thrown into the deal to make the Financials work. He was almost assuredly going to be non tendered in the offseason. He wasn't going to make or break the Hader deal. Lamet wasn't the important part of the trade, Stearns called Gasser one of the best pitching prospects in baseball. This will come down to how Ruiz/Gasser develops and how Rogers pitches this year.
  3. Lamet being DFA'd is a little surprising but not overly so imo. It always seemed like he was put in the deal purely for financial reasons. I wouldn't be surprised if the Brewers try to sign him back on a minor league deal.
  4. I don't get this one. The Brewers just had a chance to sign him. I don't think Peters is some great prospect but having to give up any decent prospect for a guy you could have signed 3 weeks ago is a bad look. They really must have been impressed with his workout, it seems like they have been after him for awhile
  5. C-. I think we are still the favorites to win the division and anything can happen in the playoffs but I'm very underwhelmed. Trade grades Hader for Rogers/Limet/Gasser/Ruiz B for value, C- overall because it makes us worse this year. Mathias/Kelly for Matt Bush B+, I really like Bush the pitcher(hopefully he's over his past demons) and I'm not that upset losing Kelly Tristan Peters for Trevor Rosenthal D, Peters had broken out this year a little bit with the Trats so moving him for less than 2 months of a guy who hasn't pitched since 2020 is quite pricy, the Brewers must have really liked what they saw from his workout in July The Brewers clearly thought their biggest weakness was their bullpen and I think that was probably right, the rotation is still elite and our lineup is currently 7th in runs per game. I think there is no question the bullpen got deeper with Rogers, Limet, Bush, & Rosenthal. But losing Hader really stings, & makes me wonder if the pen is actually "better" or just "deeper". Plus I wanted atleast a depth bat, specifically a CF and not filling that hole is questionable to me. Overall I give this deadline a C-
  6. Haniger is the one who stands although we got decent production from Parra and then flipped him for Davies so it wasn't awful. The Garrett Cooper & Khris Davis trades are probably the only 2 clear losses on that list.
  7. Given both trades that occurred yesterday, I think our bullpen is different, not necessarily better or worse. Rogers is certainly a downgrade from Hader, but adding Bush and Limet really helps add to the depth of the pen(plus Cousins will be back soon too)
  8. I don't think he would have been added mainly because he is still pretty far from the majors and has put up mediocre numbers at high A.
  9. Kelly was rule 5 eligible this winter and unlikely to be added to the 40 man to protect him. I have zero issues giving away that type of prospect for a good reliever with multiple years of control
  10. This seems like a very solid move
  11. His bat is fine, although only 3 Home Runs this year is interesting(and not in a good way) but I don't understand where we would play him. He hasn't played CF since 2018 and we all know the Brewers really want a good defensive CF.
  12. The Matthew Wood pick really intrigues me if he can stick at Catcher
  13. It is pretty fascinating to see the variance on the ratings for the Brewers picks. As mentioned previously Fangraphs seems to absolutely love their draft, but then other rating systems are much lower like the actual MLB Draft site, Fangraphs Brown 35 Misiorowski 24 Moore 44 MLB Draft Brown 63 Misiorowski 78 Moore 108
  14. 100% agreed. It's one thing to have a negative viewpoint, it's another to make the same post 5 or 6 times per page filling up the entire thread with the same exact discourse every single time. I would love to have a genuine discussion about the draft picks flaws and potential instead of having to read through the same exact complaint over and over again
  15. Tampa's 1st round picks since 2012 Richie Shaffer, Nick Ciuffo, Ryne Stanek, Casey Gillaspie, Garrett Whitley, Josh Lowe, Brendan McKay, Matthew Liberatore, Greg Jones, Nick Bitsko, Carson Williams, and Cooper Kinney Can we not act like they've drafted a ton of All stars or anything?
  16. I'm reading through a few different scouting reports and haven't seen anyone say he needs a complete overhaul or that he's a "light hitting" SS. Can someone post these evaluations?
  17. Why do people say he's "light hitting"? Dude had a slugging last year of. 544 and an OPS over 1.000
  18. I don't hate this idea. I know I'm in the minority but I think this could be a fun way to break up the season a bit. We get college tournaments like Maui, Battle 4 Atlantis. etc. I think it'll be similar to those. Winning Maui last year was fun as a Badger fan, obviously it doesn't matter nearly as much as the NCAA Tourney but still enjoyable
  19. I absolutely love them
  20. Either Urias goes on the IL or Reyes goes to AAA to clear a spot for Adames. A pitcher likely goes for Renfroe(Kelley maybe?)
  21. He still ranks as one of our best defenders(tied with Jace in dwar for best on the team) His bat has certainly left him but he's still a great defensive CF
  22. Also gets lifetime health insurance
  23. Finally Cutch comes through!
  24. This 100%. There is a thread to discuss McCutchen & a thread to discuss Cain. This is the Hiura thread
