  1. Every year we underestimate how much playing time the 4th and 5th outfielders will get. Taylor will get plenty of time
  2. Our lineup after we added Adames and Rowdy was pretty good last year too and this year we get them for a full season. Plus we all know Stearns is aggressive mid-season for upgrades
  3. The Brewers clearly wanted to upgrade their offense against lefties. McCutchen, Renfroe, Severino, and Brosseau all mash lefties
  4. The Brewers currently have Hader, Williams, Cousins, Boxberger, & Suter as locks in their pen. I can't see them adding a 6th guy who they wouldn't be able to send to the minors. Maybe if they can get him on a minor league deal but we know the Brewers love having flexibility with those last few spots in the pen.
  5. He has played almost exclusively left field the last few years & he's a better defender than Yelich at this point. Not that Yelich will never play the field but Yelich would be our 5th best defensive outfielder
  6. If Cutch signs I expect him to get most of his time in LF with Yelich playing mostly DH
  7. 1) From: Have lived in Green Bay since college, born and raised in Kenosha 2) Just turned 30 a little over a month ago 3) Been reading Brewerfan since about 08 4) I played baseball into Middle School but was much more of a Basketball player 5) My favorite Brewer ever is Derrick Turnbow, i fell in love with the long haired dude who would just fire the ball in there, Currently, I'd say it's Freddy or Urias 6) I follow so many people it's tough to single out specific ones. For Brewers specific though I like BadgerNoonan & Rcon14 alot 7) I enjoy working out, watching sports, and drinking beer with friends lol ? it's the best place for Brewers discussions by a Longshot with posters using reasoning and having facts to back up their opinions
  8. That's alot for a 42 year old
  9. Makes alot of sense, needed bullpen depth
  10. Stearns never had the full time DH slot to consider until now. True, but again, Stearns doesn't typically like guys who can only play one position, and this isn't even really a position, it's hitting only. I just can't imagine this happening given the fact that Stearns likes multi-position guys. Stearns has also acquired guys like Vogelbach, Tellez, Cris Carter, etc.
  11. Schwarber is my top choice for a bat but might be unrealistic, after him Rizzo is my 2nd choice, then either Conforto or Cruz. If we can add one more solid bat to this lineup I think we got a real shot this year
  12. I don't think you're being a downer whatsoever. It's the Brewers, that's being very realistic. I will be curious, however, to see if they are involved in any trades considering the massive amount of time to discuss and pre-arrange or consider the playing field. Arbitration hearings won't be decided until the season is started
  13. Exactly, the season would have proceeded as normal until the players decided to strike in the middle of a pennant race. I'm not pro owner or pro player, I want whatever is going to help the Brewers have the best chance at winning. However alot of those things tend to be pro owner(CBT, Expanded Playoffs, International Draft, etc.) I am actually curious, what are the players proposing that would help small markets have a better chance?
  14. I mean, that's probably true but it's still the fact it's the owners that locked the players out. If the owners were smart, they would've offered the players to continue operating under the old CBA for this season while they continued to negotiate and dared the players to strike but instead locked the players out. It's unclear what the owner's end game is unless they really thought they could break the union. They say they want to increase parity however do you really think they are going to bring the hammer down on cheapskate owners? I was going to write out a longer response but then realized Lathund already said I was going to say earlier in the thread. Call the player's greedy all you want, but the owners are the ones that are preventing baseball from starting and frankly should not have any sort of sympathy when it comes to these negotiations going nowhere. This isn't actually true. The owners locking the players out now probably will save us a majority of the regular season. If the owners didn't lock out the players then the players almost assuredly strike in the middle of a pennant race similar to what they did in 94 and then we'd lose an entire set of playoffs. I think it's quite clear the players are the ones unhappy with the current CBA, the owners just locked them out now so the players couldn't strike with maximum leverage(the middle of a pennant race)
  15. Pretty incredible that PECOTA has the Brewers with the most projected wins in MLB. I know that will probably change after the Dodgers sign 3 more all stars and that part of it is our division flat out stinks but that's still pretty cool
  16. I know I'm in the minority but I loved when the playoffs was 16 teams. It felt like MLBs version of March Madness with games going on all day long. That and it increases variance and allows for more great teams to be upset which should help the Brewers
  17. 100%. I have yet to see anybody give a good reason why Selig, Ortiz, etc. should be in but not Bonds, Clemens, etc.
  18. To be fair, Georgia was 7.5 point favorites. The only reason Michigan was the "2 seed" was they came into the game on a conference championship win, and Georgia just got manhandled by 'Bama. True, but using the old BCS formula it would have had Michigan as 2 over Georgia as well. I think the playoff got it right this year, there were 4 team who deserved a chance to play for a title and all 4 got a chance to prove it on the field.
  19. On one hand, the CFP has sucked with most games being blowouts, however on the other hand it's not like the better seeded team always wins. Using the old method we would have ended up with a Alabama Michigan Championship so at least we got saved from that
  20. It is super interesting seeing how different sites seem to have a pretty wide variety in how they rank our system
  21. I agree with this. I think they push it right up to when Spring Training would typically begin, maybe a week or two into that and then come to an agreement.
  22. Yea I'm not really a fan of Locked on Brewers. Unfortunately the only 2 good ones seem to MKE Tailgate or Cold Brew
  23. I do agree with this. I expect the Brewers to sign one more solid bat to the lineup once the lockout ends. Probably a pen arm or two as well
  24. I'm not even talking things like a salary cap which i know wont ever happen. I'm talking enhanced Revenue sharing, expanded playoffs, longer team control, an international draft, etc. Unfortunately these all seem to be pro owner discussion points but honestly I just want small markets to have a more even field to play on.
