  1. The Lions might be the best team "on paper", but I firmly believe coaching matters especially in the playoffs and Dan Campbell is way to reckless for my tastes. He arguably cost them the SF game in the playoffs last year and I suspect his arrogance will cost them again
  2. I disagree on Sal. I don't see a .300ish hitter with 40 doubles at all. He has not shown the ability to consistently hit the ball hard at all. He makes a lot of weak contact IMO. It's the main reason I strongly prefer Mitchell over Frelick as I just think Sal is doing it with smoke and mirrors
  3. I understand your point with the Dodgers, but not the Braves. The Braves let Swanson walk a couple of years ago, so they are unlikely to pay Adames IMO. I've felt for a while SF is the most likely landing spot for Willy
  4. I understand McMahon isn't an all-star caliber player, but comparing him to Monasterio is more than a little over the top IMO. He fits the profile of a ++ defender and many left handed hitters have had success at AmFam. I think he would be a real nice add, for someone like Black (who has no defensive value at all and I'm not sure isn't a 4A guy offensively) plus a lottery ticket to Colorado
  5. I'm pretty sure DeJong's wife is from Wisconsin, so I agree he may have interest in the Brewers. No idea if it would be mutual, but you can connect the dots pretty easily...
  6. I think Murphy will leave Turang in the leadoff spot today.. Turang - 2B Chourio - LF Contreras - C Mitchell - RF Adames - SS Hoskins - 1B Sanchez - DH Ortiz - 3B Perkins - CF This lineup is very similar to what was used against Manaea when he started here on 09/27
  7. I couldn't agree with this any more...The argument that betting on his own team versus against his own team makes a difference is a utterly ridiculous take since any bet would impact managerial decisions 100%
  8. My guess is WHEN, not if, they advance to Philly, Hudson would replace Mears on the roster
  9. I would do 2-$38M with a third year option with a buyout ($3-4M) to mitigate some of that risk
  10. 16-10 in September Predicted NL Standings: LAD - 97 - 65 MKE - 96 -66 PHIL - 95 - 67
  11. Narverson did in fact get cut by the Titans. I'm far from sold on Joseph, it will be interesting if they explore any of the FA kickers
  12. That's far from an exciting group...Matthew Wright maybe. The rest are no better than Joseph IMO
  13. Bump 14-8 with six games left in the month. Looks like they will perform better than almost all of the predictions in the thread...
  14. The Marlins DFA'd Nick Gordon. Former high draft pick of the Twins, who IMO would be an upgrade over Monasterio as a utility player off the bench
  15. I believe they were swept in Philly earlier this year. However, they still have not lost 4 games in a row all season. They certainly are not playing well right now, but that happens to every team at some point in the season. The Phillies and Dodgers both had losing records in July as well. This team has been very resilient all season and I expect that will continue
  16. I'll go 15-13
  17. Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but the math definitely favors the Brewers. Assuming a loss today and a STL win, if the Crew plays .500 ball the rest of the season, STL has to play at an almost .600 pace to catch them. Certainly possible, definitely not likely
  18. Excellent post. It doesn't fit the narrative of the "sky is falling crowd" who are the regulars in the game threads. The facts are the team has a 5game division lead with 54 games left and is in very good position to win the division. If that happens the playoffs are a total crapshoot (see Arizona last year)
  19. My random wish would be Brandon Lowe. Tampa appears to be completely "retooling" and his bat would really thrive at AmFam IMO. The cost might be crazy, but I think he would really help lengthen the lineup
  20. Agree, really like that trade for STL. Glad Edman is out of the NLC as he was always a pain in the backside against MKE. Would have liked the Brewers to get Fedde as I thought he was the most realistic target to upgrade the rotation for this year and next
  21. So the Cards can pay for Fedde, who would slot nicely into this rotation, but you remained obsessed with Bobby Miller, who LAD is very unlikely to trade.....smh
  22. Couldn't disagree with this post more. Six game division lead after today, likely to have 40 man issues in the near future, absolutely "give away prospects" to improve your chances this year
  23. I don't believe obstruction is challengeable...still an awful call by the 2nd base umpire
  24. Completely agree that getting Freeland out of Coors could be a big plus. He would likely slot in as #2 on this current staff. Freddy is still the #1 despite all the garbage he takes on this board IMO
  25. Continue to be consistent...14-10
