  1. Completely disagree with this. Turang is going to be starting next year either at SS or 2B depending on what happens with Adames. Monasterio is likely a bench player or tradeable depending on other off season moves
  2. Bryant hurting the Cubs is pure joy.....
  3. The answer to that is likely zero, despite your conspiracy theory that Stearns has been secretly working for the Mets for years
  4. As good as Gallen/Kelly are, I still prefer the D'Backs. I don't believe there bullpen is very good and their lineup is a step below the Cubs and Phillies IMO
  5. It certainly possible, but not likely IMO. They already have won both series against the Phillies this year, including beating Nola just this past weekend
  6. How could this possibly be true????...if you follow the negativity on this board Candelario was a HOF add and Canha was a useless spare part. It's almost like you can't judge trade deadline activity after one week...
  7. That guy with a "whiffle ball bat" has a .701 ops in the second half and a .771 ops in August. Add his defense to that and that's more than acceptable
  8. Agree to disagree. Taylor is the definition of "just a guy" IMO. I don't believe he is a regular starter on a contending team. A 4th or 5th OF'er, maybe, but nevertheless very replaceable... I'm not even a Wiemer guy, but I would take his upside over Taylor 10 times out of 10.
  9. Major overreaction to Taylor's value, as it's a 38 AB sample size. We have multiple years of TT being a 4th OF (at best). If you forced me to guess he's likely a trade, or maybe non-tender option, in the offseason, as there are cheaper more talented options coming up through the system that are going to be MLB ready soon
  10. Your missing the point, Yelich needs to be in the lineup virtually every day. DHing versus being in LF gets him rest without losing his bat. You, any many others on this board, may disagree with using the DH in that manner, but that appears to be Counsell's preference versus a "bat-only" DH like Hiura
  11. Other than Yelich is their best offensive threat...I'm sure taking his bat out of the lineup will help this already challenged offense score runs...SMH
  12. The Cubs schedule is soft, but that is not accurate as they also have 4 games at the Reds, 3 @ Arizona, and 4 @ Wrigley versus Arizona. The Reds and Dbacks are over .500 as of today. In fact for the rest of the season (excluding H2H matchups) the Cubs have 17 games versus +.500 teams and the Brewers have 15 as of today
  13. Couldn't disagree more...we gave up a lottery ticket at a minor league position of depth. We received a significant upgrade a 1B for the rest of this season
  14. I would expect Yelich to play as they do have 4 scheduled off days in the next 16 calendar days. You really shouldn't have Yelich or Contresas out of lineup at all the way they are swinging at the moment
  15. I hope you guys realize there is next to no chance Adames gets sent down to AAA. He is still playing above average defense and even though he's been in basically a season long slump at the plate the dreaded "intangibles", that most fans hate, will prevent a demotion IMO
  16. Strez has had one good 60 day stretch in MLB. Chafin has been a solid reliever for multiple seasons. This trade is a no-brainer IMO
  17. Jumped the gun, apparently not a done deal yet...
  18. Per Jon Morosi
  19. I agree with bf82, my favorite part of the Santana addition is hopefully not seeing Miller's name in the lineup. Miller is a career utility man who had one tremendous month earlier this year. Unfortunately, CC can't help himself but to overplay guys like that which is my biggest gripe with him as a manager (guys like Miller and Hernan Perez). Then these players become overexposed and tend to be perform poorly
  20. I still think the Crew should go after Jimenez. Cahna can play the outfield and end the Blake Perkins Experience (Thank God!!)
  21. I've never understood why people get so annoyed by lineup construction. I understand Frelick isn't a "traditional #4 hitter", but having Yelich and Contreras 1 & 2 in the lineup at least gets your best two hitters maximum potential AB's. Also, the top 4 in tonight's lineup appear to be currently the best four bats in the lineup so I don't get the angst...
  22. I would think Megill would go before Mejia
  23. The Brewers are still solid favorites to win the NLC in the major projection systems, despite their offensive struggles...
