  1. Final: Charlotte 8, Brevard County 1 Brevard silenced in 8-1 loss to Stone Crabs Manatees finish eight-game road trip with 3-5 mark By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - After taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning on three hits, the Brevard County Manatees managed just one more hit the rest of the night in a 8-1 loss to the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Monday at Charlotte Sports Park. D'Vontrey Richardson led off the game with a double to extend his hitting streak to 14 games. He then advanced to third on a balk and scored on a ground out from Yadiel Rivera. The 'Tees (18-24 second half, 55-54 overall) then put the next two on thanks to back-to-back singles from Nick Ramirez and Mitch Haniger. After Nick Delmonico struck out swinging, Cameron Garfield was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Brevard County was unable to take advantage of the opportunity though as Greg Hopkins grounded into a force out to end the inning. Damien Magnifico (0-2, 5.79 ERA) made his return from the disabled list and got the start for Brevard County and allowed two runs on two hits in three innings of work. Both runs that Magnifico allowed came in the second inning, on a two-run single off the bat of Charlotte's (24-17, 53-55) Lucas Bailey. Charlotte blew the game open in the fourth inning as Alex Moore came in for Magnifico. Moore was unable to get out of the frame as he recorded two outs, while allowed five runs on four hits and two walks as the Stone Crabs took a 7-1 lead. After the first inning, the Manatees could only muster two baserunners the rest of the night. Cody Hawn led off the fifth with a single but was then retired on a double play ball. Yadiel Rivera reached in the ninth on a walk. Brevard County finished its eight-game road trip with a 3-5 mark. After an off-day on Tuesday, the 'Tees will return home for a three-game series against the Tampa Yankees (21-20, 49-60) starting on Wednesday night at 6:35 p.m. Brevard County Box Score Brevard County Play-by-Play
  2. I would argue some guys have better than MLB quality gloves. Great analysis Crew07! I am cautiously looking forward to seeing Roache advance and face more seasoned pitching. I worry that the collapsing back elbow and looping upper cut in his swing will significantly hinder him versus better pitchers, but it sounds like that may have improved and obviously the power is there when he makes contact. If he can develop into a .250-.270ish hitter and maintain the power at the MLB level he would certainly have a ton of value, even at a corner outfield spot.
  3. Final: Brevard County 9, Charlotte 6 Ninth inning rally spurs Manatees to victory Delmonico, Richardson each record three hits By Andy Towne / Brevard County Manatees PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Three runs in the ninth inning broke a 6-6 tie and gave the Manatees a 9-6 win over the Stone Crabs at Charlotte Sports Park on Sunday evening. Brevard County (18-23 second half, 55-53 overall) had led, 6-3, entering the bottom of the eighth inning, but surrendered that lead completely on two singles, two walks and a ground-rule double against the combination of Chad Pierce and Tommy Toledo. The Manatees earned all three runs back in the final frame, which was led off by a Nicky Delmonico single that brought in Lenny Linsky to replace Bruedlin Suero (0-1). A single by Cameron Garfield and a sacrifice bunt from Greg Hopkins greeted Linsky, putting runners on second and third with one out. Cody Hawn was intentionally walked to load the bases before D'Vontrey Richardson knocked in a pair, and Yadiel Rivera also had a solo homer. Richardson and Delmonico each finished with three hits on the night, accounting for six of Brevard's 15 in total. Mitch Haniger and Ben McMahan's doubles were the only extra-base hits. The only Manatee not to hit safely was Greg Hopkins, with Rivera, Nick Ramirez and Garfield notching two hits apiece. It was the fourth three-hit game on Richardson's current 13-game hitting streak. He also has four two-hit games, and is batting .431 (25-for-58) since July 23. Haniger led the team with three RBIs, including one on his ground-rule double, one when he reached on an error, and another when he took a bases-loaded walk. Hawn gave the Manatees an early lead with an RBI single in the second inning. Charlotte (23-17, 52-55) rallied to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the same frame, but that lead didn't last long as Brevard fought right back. All with two outs, a Rivera single and stolen base, Ramirez single, Haniger double and back-to-back singles from Delmonico and Garfield put three runs on the board and gave the Manatees a 4-2 lead before the final out was recorded in the inning. Each team scored again in the fifth, then the Manatees added an extra insurance run in the sixth before Charlotte's three-run eighth tied the contest. In a Major League rehab appearance, Milwaukee's Mark Rogers threw the first two innings of the game. He retired the first five batters he faced, but then surrendered two runs on three hits. He did not walk or strike out anybody. Chad Pierce took the game into the eighth, pitching 5.0 frames with a line that included three runs, four hits, two walks and two strikeouts. One of those hits was a home run by Hector Guevara in the fifth. Tommy Toledo (3-2) blew the save in the eighth, but went on to earn the win as he took responsibility for one run on two hits and two walks. He also had one strikeout. On the other side, Felipe Rivero was touched for six runs, five of them earned, on 11 hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Matt Ramsey threw 2.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen, but the Manatees were able to draw four walks against him. Six total walks taken to just four strikeouts for the Manatees offense marked the first time this season that Brevard County drew more three passes than struck out. The final game between the Manatees and Stone Crabs in 2013 will be played in Charlotte on Monday night at 6:30 p.m. Brevard County Box Score [pre]Player AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO AVG Richardson 6 0 3 0 0 0 2 0 0 .350 Rivera 4 2 2 0 0 0 0 2 0 .240 Ramirez 4 1 2 0 0 0 0 2 1 .260 Haniger 4 1 1 1 0 0 3 1 0 .245 Delmonico 4 2 3 0 0 0 2 0 0 .273[/pre] Brevard County Play-by-Play BC with a two out explosion in the 3rd: Brevard County Top of the 3rd -Ben McMahan called out on strikes. -D' Vontrey Richardson lines out to first baseman Alejandro Segovia. -Yadiel Rivera singles on a ground ball to third baseman Ben Kline. -With Nick Ramirez batting, Yadiel Rivera steals (7) 2nd base. -Nick Ramirez singles on a ground ball to shortstop Jake Hager. 4. According to a Jon Heyman report the Biogenesis ban will only include 3 previously unnamed players. The odds would seem to be against another Brewers player being involved with this particular case, but I guess at this point just about anything is possible.

  6. Final: Charlotte 3, Brevard County 2 Early lead spoiled in 3-2 loss at Charlotte By Dave Walkovic / Brevard County Manatees PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Tyler Cravy tossed six shutout innings and had a 2-0 lead, but it wasn't enough as the Charlotte Stone Crabs topped the Brevard County Manatees, 3-2, on Saturday night at Charlotte Sports Park. The Stone Crabs (23-16 second half, 52-54 overall) scored three runs in the seventh inning against Taylor Mangum to erase a two-run deficit. An RBI triple by Kes Carter plated Jeff Malm to open the scoring for Charlotte. Lucas Bailey and Jake Hager each delivered run-scoring singles to give the Stone Crabs the lead for good in the seventh. Cravy did not factor into the decision after he allowed three hits and two walks in his six scoreless frames. He fanned five batters. Brevard County (17-23, 54-53) took an early 1-0 lead in the first. After D'Vontrey Richardson led off the game with a single, he stole second. With one out, Nick Ramirez singled to left field, plating Richardson. Richardson finished 3-for-4 on the night, which extended the best hit streak by a Manatee this season to 12 games. With one out in the sixth, Yadiel Rivera smacked his fourth homer of the season, a solo shot, to double the Brevard County lead. Mangum (0-1) was hit with the loss after allowing three runs on five hits and recording two outs in the seventh inning. Jacob Partridge (1-4) earned his first victory of the season. He allowed 1 run over 4.1 innings of relief. Partridge was relieved by Nate Garcia, who retired the final two batters of the game to record his eighth save of the season. The two squads square off again tomorrow in game three of the four game series. First pitch from Port Charlotte is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Brevard County Box Score D'Vontrey Richardson went 3-4 (all singles) and extended his hit streak to 12 games. He also added a stolen base. Hopefully at somepoint D'Vo can start to show some doubles power. Yadiel Rivera went 2-4 with an HR. Nick Ramirez had the only other hit for the Manatees. Nicky Delmonico walked three times tonight. Nice line for Tyler Cravy tonight with 6.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 SO. Brevard County Play-by-Play
  7. Final: Charlotte 7, Brevard County 3 'Tees drop series opener in Charlotte, 7-3 By Andy Towne / Brevard County Manatees PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - For the second straight night, the Manatees went down 3-0 through three innings. For the second straight night, the Manatees erased that deficit. Against the Charlotte Stone Crabs, however, the 'Tees couldn't get ahead as they took a 7-3 loss at Charlotte Sports Park to open a four-game series on Friday night. The Stone Crabs (22-16 second half, 51-54 overall) put up a pair of unearned runs in the second inning, then added another in the third on Jeff Malm's solo home run before a three-run rally for the Manatees in the top of the fourth. Brevard County (17-22, 54-52) batted around in the top of the fourth, scoring three runs to tie the game and leaving the bases loaded. A double, a single and Ben McMahan reaching on catcher's interference put three runners on right away, with Greg Hopkins providing a two-run single that got the 'Tees on the board. T.J. Mittelstaedt doubled in a run before D'Vontrey Richardson reached on a fielder's choice. Hopkins being caught between third at home on Richardson's ground ball was the first out of the inning. After a strikeout, Nick Ramirez drew his second walk of the night to load the bases. That walk chased starter Ryan Carpenter for the game, with Andrew Bellatti taking the reins. Carpenter finished the night with a line of 3.2 innings pitched, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks. Just two of the runs against him were earned thanks to the catcher's interference. He also struck out two batters. Manatees' starter Cody Scarpetta (0-5) lasted 4.0 full frames, giving up four total runs but only two earned. Against him, Charlotte had nine hits and drew one walk with two strikeouts. Though the nine hits allowed were a season high, it was just the second time he issued only one free pass and it was the first time in three starts that the righty made it through four innings of work. Scarpetta was held responsible for the loss when he surrendered back-to-back doubles to start the bottom of the fifth, putting the Stone Crabs up, 4-3, before Matt Miller came on in relief. Bellatti (5-1) sat down all eight batters he faced, and was put in line for the win with the run in the bottom of the fifth. Miller dug the hole deeper in the sixth, opening with a sequence of a single, a wild pitch, two walks and a sacrifice fly to score a run and leave runners on the corners. Another sac fly put the score at 6-3, Charlotte ahead. When Alex Moore came on for the seventh, he couldn't keep the home team off the base paths as he hit Willie Argo with a pitch. Argo stole second base, then with two outs advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Kes Carter single. Dan Meadows pitched a scoreless eighth without giving up a walk, his first appearance without a walk since he was in Huntsville on June 17 and his first Manatees appearance without a walk since May 13. The series continues at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday in Port Charlotte, with Brevard's Tyler Cravy (3-1, 2.56 ERA) and Charlotte's Jacob Partridge (0-4, 4.68 ERA) squaring off on the mound. Brevard County Box Score D'Vontrey Richardson extended his hit streak to 11 games. Nick Delmonico went 1-4 with a double and walk. The only other extra base was T.J. Mittelstaedt's double. Both Mitch Haniger and Greg Hopkins recorded multi-hit nights (each was 2-4). Brevard County Play-by-Play The 'Tees kept the Stone Crabs Centerfielder busy to begin the game. 9. Final: Brevard County 5, Jupiter 4 (10 innings) 'Tees rally to take finale in ten from Jupiter By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/assets/images/0/4/4/45210044/cuts/Barnes_4.13_3_63vfx15f_3wi3yr15.JPG Manatees starting pitcher Jacob Barnes, seen here in a game from earlier this season, allowed just one earned run in 6.2 innings of work as Brevard County defeated the Jupiter Hammerheads, 5-4 in ten innings on Thursday night at Roger Dean Stadium. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) JUPITER, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees rallied to salvage a series split with the Jupiter Hammerheads as they took Thursday's series finale, 5-4 in ten innings at Roger Dean Stadium. The Manatees (17-21 second half, 54-51 overall) could not solve Jupiter (20-20, 56-52) starting pitcher Angel Sanchez as he blanked the 'Tees for 6.2 innings. He allowed two hits and two walks, while striking out five. With Brevard County down 3-0 after seven innings, their bats started to get going against Hammerheads reliever Kevin Cravey. T.J. Mittelstaedt led off the eighth with a walk and then after back-to-back singles from D'Vontrey Richardson and Yadiel Rivera, with Rivera's hit bringing home Mittelstaedt. Cravey was pulled from the game and the next Jupiter pitcher out of the bullpen did not fare much better as Nick Wittgren allowed back-to-back RBI singles to Nick Ramirez and Mitch Haniger to allow the 'Tees to tie the game at 3-3. Jupiter had also scored all three of their runs in one inning against Brevard County starting pitcher Jacob Barnes (6-5, 3.24 ERA) in the third. A one-out double with the bases loaded from Noah Perio plated two runs and then Austin Barnes brough home another run on a sacrifice fly. Two of those runs were unearned though thanks to an error by Greg Hopkins earlier in the inning. Overall, Barnes went 6.2 innings and gave up just the three runs (one earned) on six hits. He walked just two and fanned five Jupiter hitters. The game went into extra innings with Hopkins attoning for his error back in the third inning. His two-out RBI single to center put the Manatees up 4-3. Rafael Neda followed with a RBI single of his own to left to provide an insurance run that would prove to be very important. Tommy Toledo came on in the bottom of the tenth for the save and retired the first two batters of the inning. He then allowed a double to Ryan Fisher and then Ryan Rieger drew a walk. Yordy Cabrera then worked a full count and reached on an infield chopper that ate up Nick Delmonico at third base to load the bases and put the winning run on. Ryan Goetz then stepped in and delivered a single to left that scored Fisher and Rieger came around from second to try and score the tying run but was thrown out by Mittelstaedt at the plate to end the game. Richardson went 3-for-5 at the plate to extend his hitting streak to ten games. Neda also had two hits on the night. Final: Jupiter 11, Brevard County 2 Brevard hammered by Jupiter, 11-2 By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/assets/images/2/6/4/55447264/cuts/Richardson_7.6_2_hqtm8a8j_0jroetzy.JPG Manatees center fielder D'Vontrey Richardson, seen here in a game from earlier this season, went 1-for-4 and drove in the first run of the game in Brevard County's 11-2 loss to the Jupiter Hammerheads on Wednesday night at Roger Dean Stadium. Richardson extended his hitting streak to nine games. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) JUPITER, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees allowed double-digit runs for the fourth time in their last ten games as they were defeated 11-2 by the Jupiter Hammerheads on Wednesday night at Roger Dean Stadium. The Hammerheads roughed up Manatees (16-21 second half, 53-51 overall) starting pitcher Brent Suter (7-7, 3.44 ERA) with five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jupiter (20-19, 56-51) started the frame with four consecutive hits that plated two runs before an out was even recorded. Suter was able to retire Austin Barnes and Alex Burg back-to-back but then walked Alfredo Lopez to extend the inning. Yordy Cabrera then stepped to the plate and made the 'Tees pay as he singled to center to drive in two more runs to make it a 4-1 game. Jupiter scored one more on a single by Ryan Goetz and it would have been six runs in the inning had Mitch Haniger not thrown out Cabrera at home to end the inning. Suter's night would be done after five innings as he allowed nine hits and three walks to go along with the five runs. He also struck out five. Suter has struggled in his last two starts as he has allowed 12 runs on 21 hits in a combine ten innings of work. Brevard County had broken the scoreless tie in the top of the fifth on a RBI single from D'Vontrey Richardson that scored Ben McMahan. Richardson's single extended his hitting streak to nine games. Following the Hammerheads' big inning, the 'Tees could only plate one in the top of the sixth. Haniger led off with a single up the middle and then came around to score all the way from first on a double from Nick Ramirez. The newest Manatee, Taylor Mangum, came on in relief of Suter and after a perfect sixth inning, he ran into trouble in the seventh. Back-to-back one-out singles from Barnes and Burg put runners on the corners and after striking out Lopez, Mangum unleashed a wild pitch with Cabrera at the plate to allow Barnes to score. Cabrera would come up with another big two-out hit as he doubled to left to plate Burg and make it a 7-2 game. Goetz then followed with a two-out RBI single to make it 8-2. Dan Meadows came on in the eighth for the Manatees and after retiring the first two batters, he gave up a single and a walk to put two on with two out. Alex Burg then added even more insurance runs for Jupiter as he hit a three-run homer to left field. Brevard County and Jupiter will close out their four-game set with the Manatees look to earn at least a split of the series on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Jacob Barnes (6-5, 3.40) will get the ball for the Manatees, while Angel Sanchez (2-1, 2.25) will toe the rubber for the Hammerheads. Brevard County Box Score Nick Delmonico moved into the two-spot in the batting order and went 1-4. The only extra base hits for the Manatees tonight were doubles for Nick Ramirez and T.J. Mittelstaedt. D-Vo extended his hitting streak to nine games and added a stolen base. Brevard County Play-by-Play
  13. Final: Jupiter 2, Brevard County 1 'Tees edged late by Jupiter, 2-1 Pierce goes six scoreless as Brevard manages four hits By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/assets/images/7/4/2/55316742/cuts/Pierce_7.25_1_pws0vq6x_r7ecv9kv.JPG Manatees starting pitcher Chad Pierce, seen here in a game from earlier this season, threw six shutout innings but did not factor in the decision as Brevard County fell 2-1 to the Jupiter Hammerheads on Tuesday night at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter. JUPITER, Fla. - Six shutout innings from starting pitcher Chad Pierce were not enough as the Brevard County Manatees were edged 2-1 by the Jupiter Hammerheads on a walk-off single in the ninth inning on Tuesday night at Roger Dean Stadium. Pierce's (5-4, 3.26 ERA) six innings tied his season high, although the eight hits that he allowed were the second-most that he has yielded in an outing so far this season. Only two of those hits though went for extra bases, as Pierce benefitted from two double plays and Mitch Haniger throwing out Josh Adams at home plate to end the fifth inning to keep the game scoreless. The Manatees (16-20 first half, 53-50 overall), who only had two hits up to that point, plated the first run of the game in the top of the sixth. D'Vontrey Richardson drew a one-out walk and then Yadiel Rivera reached on a fielding error by third baseman Ryan Fisher that put runners on the corners. Nick Ramirez followed with a RBI ground out to drive in Richardson and make it a 1-0 game. Alex Moore relieved Pierce in the seventh and after allowing a lead-off walk, Moore forced Adams to fly out to center and Brent Keys to ground into a 6-4-3 double play to end the frame. Greg Hopkins led off the top of the eighth with a double for the 'Tees and then moved to third on a T.J. Mittelstaedt fly out. Hopkins tagged on Richardson's fly ball to right but was thrown out to deny Brevard the insurance run and end the inning. After recording eight hits with nothing to show for it, Jupiter (19-19, 55-51) finally got on the board with one swing of the bat as Ryan Fisher took Moore deep with one out in the eighth to tie the game. Moore stayed in for the bottom of the ninth and allowed a lead-off single to Alfredo Lopez before Lopez moved over to second on a sacrifice bunt. Santo Manzanillo was then called upon to get the game into extra innings. Manzanillo was able to get Adams to line out to Rivera for the second out but with Keys batting, Lopez moved to third on a passed ball. Keys was then intentionally walked. It would be Austin Barnes who would be the hero for the Hammerheads as he lined a single to right to plate Lopez and complete Jupiter's comeback to give them the walk-off win. The Manatees recorded just four hits, including a fourth inning single from Richardson that extended his hitting streak to eight games. Brevard County and Jupiter will be back at it again on Wednesday night with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Brevard County Box Score Brevard County Play-by-Play

Final: Brevard County 5, Jupiter 3 Brevard snaps season-high skid Manatees top Jupiter 5-3 to end five-game losing streak By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/assets/images/5/4/8/45018548/cuts/Garfield_4.17_bn98ubll_0e0xg25e.JPG Manatees catcher Cameron Garfield, seen here in a game from earlier this season, went 2-for-5 and drove in the eventual game-winning run in Brevard County's 5-3 win over the Jupiter Hammerheads on Monday night at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter. JUPITER, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees snapped a season-high five-game losing streak with a 5-3 win over the Jupiter Hammerheads on Monday night at Roger Dean Stadium. After scoring nine runs and talling 15 hits on Sunday, the Manatees (16-19 second half, 53-49 overall) brought their bats with them in the series opener with the Hammerheads (18-19, 54-51) as they recorded 12 hits. The 'Tees scored the first run of the game in the first inning on a Mitch Haniger ground out that plated Yadiel Rivera. Brevard added two more in the second on back-to-back, two-out RBI hits as Ben McMahan's double and D'Vontrey Richardson's single gave the Manatees a 3-0 lead. The single for Richardson extended his hitting streak to seven games. Manatees starting pitcher Tyler Cravy (3-1, 2.56 ERA) held the Hammerheads scoreless in his outing, but went just four innings. Cravy allowed three hits and three walks, while fanning two. Matt Miller came on in the fifth and made the game interesting in his three innings of work. He allowed two hits, walked five and hit four batters but was able to escape the three frames with just two runs allowed. Miller and the Manatees benefitted from two double plays in those three innings. The biggest came in the fifth with the bases loaded and no outs as Yordy Cabrera grounded into a 3-2-3 double play. The second came in the sixth as Ryan Goetz drew a lead-off walk and then Austin Nola grounded into a 5-4-3 double play. The 'Tees came up big with two outs once again in the seventh as Nick Delmonico and Cameron Garfield both had two-out RBI singles to give Brevard County a 5-1 lead. Both Delmonico and Garfield had two hits each. Tommy Toledo threw the final two frames and allowed an unearned run in the ninth, but with the tying run at the plate and one out, Ryan Goetz grounded into a 3-6-3 double play to end the game. Brevard County and Jupiter will square off once again on Tuesday night with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Chad Pierce (5-4, 3.53) will toe the rubber for the 'Tees, while the Hammerheads will call on Jose Urena (9-6, 3.93) for the start. 17. Final: Bradenton 11, Brevard County 9 Nine runs not enough as 'Tees get swept Brevard drops slugfest to Bradenton for fifth straight loss By Andy Towne / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/assets/images/9/6/4/55130964/cuts/McMahan_5.21_1_cb2p2z6z_q5nbzlo7.JPG Manatees left fielder Ben McMahan, seen here in a game from earlier this season, went 3-for-4 with a double, home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Brevard County's 11-9 loss to the Bradenton Marauders at Space Coast Stadium in Viera. Audio: Game Highlights VIERA, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees extended their season-long losing streak to five games as they finished on the short end of an 11-9 battle with the Bradenton Marauders on Sunday night at Space Coast Stadium to close out an eight-game homestand. Brevard County (15-19 second half, 52-49 overall) won just one of the eight games during their homestand in Viera, while Bradenton (14-22, 40-64) earned its first four-game sweep since its final series of the 2011 season. The four wins in a row also mark the Marauders' longest win streak this season. The nine runs were the most for the Manatees in a loss this year, with the previous high being six in a 7-6 loss against Charlotte on May 8. Brevard's 15 hits were also their most in a game since recording 16, in a 10-9, ten-inning comeback victory against Daytona on April 30. Despite being down, 7-1, in the middle of the third inning, and 8-2 in the middle of the sixth, the Manatees used a five-run sixth and a two-run homer by Ben McMahan in the eighth to tie the game at 9-9. McMahan went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored on the night. Santo Manzanillo (0-4, 5.68 ERA) was hung with the loss as he surrendered a run in the top of the eighth to make it 9-7 and then two more in the ninth after the Manatees tied the game. In one of the most explosive innings of the year, three extra-base hits sparked a five-run rally to bring Brevard back within a single run at 8-7. Mitch Haniger led off the frame with a double, and then Nicky Delmonico followed with a RBI triple that also marked his first hit as a member of the Brewers organization. Two batters later, T.J. Mittelstaedt drew a walk and then a two-out single by McMahan plated Delmonico and moved Mittlestaedt to second. Mittelstaedt then scored on D'Vontrey Richardson's second hit of the game. A two-run double from Yadiel Rivera brought home McMahan and Mittelstaedt to round out the five-run inning. After leading off with a double and scoring a run in the first inning, Richardson has recorded multiple hits five straight games, with a six-game hitting streak overall. Since July 23, Richardson is batting .444 (12-for-27) with three RBI and four runs scored. Bradenton took its early lead thanks to five walks issued by Manatees starter Cody Scarpetta (0-4, 7.48). Each of the five men that walked scored. Benji Gonzalez scored one of the two other runs after reaching on a sacrifice bunt that forced a throwing error from Delmonico. The error also allowed D.J. Crumlich to move from first to third on the play, meaning both of their runs were unearned. The first two men in the Bradenton lineup stepped to the plate in each of the first three innings, as the Marauders scored seven runs in that time with one in the first frame and three in each of the second and third innings. Pirates prospect Alen Hanson, who began the game as the shortstop and leadoff hitter, was removed from the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Benji Gonzalez moving from left field to shortstop, Carlos Mesa came in to play left field. Mesa hit a solo home run in his first turn at the plate in the sixth inning. It was announced after the game that Hanson was promoted within the Pirates organization to Double-A Altoona. Scarpetta ended up not factoring into the decision, though he surrendered a total of seven runs (five earned) on six hits and the five walks, with just one strikeout. Stephen Peterson came on for four innings of relief as he allowed one run on two hits and three strikeouts. He did not walk anybody in the longest outing of his career. The win was credited to Bradenton reliever Tyler Waldron, who had blown a save opportunity by giving up McMahan's home run. Marauders starter Pat Ludwig was lifted in the middle of the sixth, taking responsibility for five runs on nine hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 5.2 innings. Two of the runs charged to Ludwig scored with Zach Fuesser on the mound, with Fuesser giving up two runs of his own on three hits. He recorded just one out. Brevard takes to the road for an eight-game road trip, with four-game sets at Jupiter and Charlotte before returning to Space Coast Stadium on August 7 against the Tampa Yankees. Monday's pitching matchup at Roger Dean Stadium features Tyler Cravy (3-1, 2.75), coming off a seven-inning start in which he gave up just one run, against Jake Esch (1-5, 4.83) for the Hammerheads. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Brevard County Box Score D'Vontrey Richardson recorded his 5th straight multi-hit game, as he is now batting .319 in his 19 FSL games this year, and he has recorded a double in each of the past two games (hopefully we see him continue the extra-base hits trend). Nice production from the top of the order. The first four batters in the Manatees lineup (Richardson, Rivera, Ramirez, Haniger) accounted for 9 of the 15 hits. Nicky Delmonico's first organizational hit was a triple, which is a nice way to start for a guy who reportedly doesn't run well. Defensively he had a throwing error to 1B after charging a bunt. The throwing error allowed a run to score. He also made what sounded like a very nice diving stab and throw later in the game. Brevard County Play-by-Play The play-by-play recap contains a lot of both good and ugly. Walks cost the Manatees greatly early on and they went down 7-1. To their credit they got the bats going tonight and battled to tie the game 9-9 before eventually losing. Brevard County Bottom of the 6th -Mitch Haniger doubles (15) on a fly ball to right fielder Willy Garcia. -Nick Delmonico triples (1) on a fly ball to center fielder Junior Sosa. Mitch Haniger scores. -Cody Hawn called out on strikes. -T. J. Mittelstaedt walks. -Rafael Neda pops out to first baseman Stetson Allie. *Pitching Change: Zac Fuesser replaces Pat Ludwig. -Ben McMahan singles on a line drive to left fielder Carlos Mesa. 18. Final: Bradenton 2, Brevard County 1 Skid continues as 'Tees edged by Marauders Brevard falls 2-1 to Bradenton for 10th loss in last 12 games By Andy Towne / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/assets/images/7/6/4/55016764/cuts/Magnifico_7.27_1_8mi69bgh_3i5fme6i.JPG Manatees starting pitcher Damien Magnifico went just two innings in his first start back from the disabled list in Brevard County's 2-1 loss to the Bradenton Marauders on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium in Viera. Audio: Game Highlights VIERA, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees dropped their third straight game to the Bradenton Marauders, by the score of 2-1 on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium. Bradenton has now clinched the season series against Brevard County (15-18 second half, 52-48 overall) after also earning a split of a four-game set at the end of April. The Manatees have now lost ten of their last 12 games and four straight overall. Marauders (13-22, 39-64) third baseman Benji Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. He scored the first run on Alen Hanson's RBI double in the third inning and drove in the eventual game-winner with a double in the seventh frame. Dan Gamache scored the run on the Gonzalez double after leading off that inning with a single. The only run for the Manatees came in the bottom half of the third, immediately tying the game after falling behind in the top half of that inning. Ben McMahan smacked a one-out double and then scored on a D'Vontrey Richardson single. Richardson also added a double in the sixth and has recorded multiple hits in four straight games. Since being added to Brevard's roster on June 29, Richardson has tallied 20 hits in 18 games played for the Manatees. Damien Magnifico (0-1, 5.74 ERA) lasted only two innings on the mound before leaving with the same blister issue that plagued him in his last two starts and forced him to a stint on the disabled list. After giving up a leadoff single, he picked off Alen Hanson and then walked Junior Sosa. Those were the only base runners he would allow in his brief outing. Jacob Barnes (6-5, 3.40) came on in relief and took the loss, despite a strong performance that would qualify him for a quality start if he had begun the game. Barnes surrendered two runs on seven hits in six innings, but perhaps most importantly posted a zero in the walk column and a six in the strikeout column. The win went to Bradenton southpaw Zack Dodson, who held Brevard to just one run in his 6.1 innings of work. He was lifted from the game after walking Cameron Garfield, which was the first and only walk that the Manatees have drawn thus far in the series. Dodson allowed just three hits and struck out one. Designated hitter Nick Delmonico went 0-for-3 with three groundouts to first base in his Milwaukee Brewers' farm system debut after being acquired in a trade from Baltimore for Francisco Rodriguez earlier this week. The four-game series concludes on Sunday evening at Space Coast Stadium, with first pitch set for 5:05 p.m. Cody Scarpetta (0-4, 6.57) will take the hill for the Manatees, opposing Bradenton's Pat Ludwig (0-1, 3.15). Brevard County Box Score Only three hits for the Manatees tonight, two of which were by D'Vontrey Richardson. Three groundouts to the first-baseman for Nicky Delmonico in his organizational debut. Lopez allowed one run over five innings for his fifth win of the season. Video: GRAND CHUTE, WI - Victor Roache led Wisconsin's 11-hit attack with three hits and three RBI on Saturday night against the Burlington Bees. Wisconsin would build an early 9-1 lead and they cruised to a 9-3 win despite six errors at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Tyrone Taylor singled with two outs and none on in the bottom of the first. Roache followed and drove a home run over the 16'-high wall in center. The home run was the fifteenth of the season for Roache and gave the Rattlers (43-56 overall, 14-20 second half) a 2-0 lead. Mike Garza followed with a single to right that eluded Chevy Clarke and allowed Garza to take third. Garrett Cooper was next and his sinking line drive glanced off the glove of a diving Exicardo Cayones for an RBI double and a 3-0 lead. Burlington (39-60, 13-21) came back with a run in the third inning. Sherman Johnson singled with two outs. Then, Pedro Tiribio doubled to left to drive in Johnson. Wisconsin added to their lead in the bottom of the third. Burlington starting pitcher Nic DellaTorre retired the first two batters of the frame, but walked Roache and Garza on eight straight pitches. Cooper followed with a triple to right-center for a 5-1 advantage. The Rattlers poured on the offense in the bottom of the fifth. Roache drove in a run with a single. Garza would single to load the bases. Cooper grounded into a 5-3 double play to score a runner from third base. Parker Berberet was next and he cracked a home run to left. The two-run blast put the Rattlers up 9-1. Jorge Lopez, the Wisconsin starting pitcher, left after five innings. He allowed one run on four hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Burlington got an unearned run in the top of the sixth off reliever Taylor Mangum. Cayones reached on an error to start the inning. Johnson singled with two outs and Cayones on third base to drive in Burlington's second run of the game. The Bees made it 9-3 in the top of the eighth inning. Tiribio singled with two outs to drive in Riley Good. But, that was as close as the Bees would get in the game. Mangum worked a scoreless ninth inning to earn his fifth save of the season. Mangum struck out four over his four innings of work Game two of the series is Sunday afternoon. Austin Ross (0-0, 7.11) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. 21. Final: Bradenton 4, Brevard County 2 Brevard bounced by Bradenton 'Tees edged 4-2 despite some highlight reel defense By Andy Towne / Brevard County Manatees http://www.milb.com/assets/images/3/3/0/54788330/cuts/Rivera_tagged_out_straightened_7.25_jpz0tosa_3596gnbz.jpg Manatees shortstop Yadiel Rivera is tagged out at home plate in the bottom of the first inning of Brevard County's 4-2 loss to the Bradenton Marauders on Thursday night at Space Coast Stadium in Viera. (Dennis Greenblatt/Hawk-Eye Sports Photography) Audio: Game Highlights Audio: Cameron Garfield Pregame Interview VIERA, Fla. - Adrian Sampson led the visiting Bradenton Marauders to a 4-2 win over the Brevard County Manatees in the series opener between the two teams on Thursday night at Space Coast Stadium. The right-handed Bradenton starter held the Manatees (15-16 second half, 52-46 overall) to two runs, with one coming in the first inning and the other in his seventh and final frame. He fanned seven and did not issue as walk, as he scattered seven hits. Four of those hits came from the combination of D'Vontrey Richardson and Yadiel Rivera from the top of the lineup as they each recorded singles in their first two at-bats. After Richardson led off the first with an infield single, he sped around from first to third on Rivera's single to left and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Nick Ramirez. Greg Hopkins provided the only other run for the Manatees offense, blasting a solo shot to left center field in the seventh. It was his sixth homer of the season. Most of the Brevard County highlights came on defense, particularly from Richardson out in center field. On his first impressive play, he showed off his strong arm with a throw from the warning track in straightaway center to third base on one hop, just missing Willy Garcia by half a step as the speedster slid in safely with a triple in the second inning. In the next at-bat, Jose Osuna was robbed of a sure base hit when Richardson laid flat out for a catch in right-center field. Garcia was able to tag up and score on the play, giving Osuna the game-tying RBI. Benji Gonzalez singled and scored in the third, with Alen Hanson sending him in on a hard smash to the edge of the right field grass to give the Marauders a 2-1 (11-22, 37-64) lead. Two more runs scored in the fifth for Bradenton with Osuna reaching on an error and then advancing to third on a single by Elias Diaz, which also put Diaz on second thanks to a T.J. Mittelstaedt error. Benji Gonzalez plated Osuna with a sacrifice fly and then Junior Sosa smashed an RBI double to score Diaz. Brevard's outfield showed itself off again in the sixth, with Mittelstaedt fielding Dan Gamache's single then firing a strike to Yadiel Rivera, who cut the throw off and turned it on to Greg Hopkins to throw out Gamache in his attempt to stretch the hit to a double. Richardson then ended the inning with another horizontal grab on a line drive by Stetson Allie. Manatees starting pitcher Chad Pierce (5-4, 3.53 ERA) was forced out of the game due to apparent injury with one out in the top of the fifth inning, though all four runs were charged to him. Only two of the runs were earned, but it was enough to hand him the loss. Pierce scattered four hits and did not walk a batter as he recorded one strikeout. Alex Moore was the first man out of the bullpen as he kept the 'Tees in the game with 3.2 scoreless frames, in which he allowed just one hit and one walk. Dan Meadows also escaped a bases loaded, nobody out jam in the ninth after a hit batter and two walks, inducing a 1-2-3 ground ball and a liner right at shortstop Rivera. Bradenton's bullpen came out with two near-perfect innings, featuring four strikeouts, no walks and one hit. Brevard County and Bradenton will continue their series on Friday night at 6:35 p.m. Slated to take the mound are a pair of lefties, as Brent Suter (7-5, 2.60) gets the ball for the Manatees and Joely Rodriguez (1-3, 2.36) will toe the rubber for the Marauders. 23. Final: Fort Myers 3, Brevard County 2 (11 inn.) 'Tees drop finale to Miracle in extras, 3-2 Cravy's great start spoiled in 11-inning loss By Andy Towne / Brevard County Manatees AUDIO: Game Highlights VIERA, Fla. - The opportunity presented itself to the Brevard County Manatees for the team's ninth walk-off win of the season, but they just couldn't push the winning run across and fell 3-2 to the Fort Myers Miracle in 11 innings on Wednesday night at Space Coast Stadium. Kennys Vargas tied the game with a solo home run off the base of the right field foul pole in the top of the ninth of off Tommy Toledo and then an unearned run ultimately decided the game in the eleventh. Jhon Goncalves smacked a ball over the head of Ben McMahan in left field with two outs, a play on which McMahan was charged with an error. Michael Kvasnicka provided the go-ahead single off of Santo Manzanillo. Brevard County (15-15 second half, 52-45 overall) had opportunities to win the game with runners on second and third in the ninth, then with a two-out walk in the tenth and a one-out error in the eleventh that allowed Yadiel Rivera to reach. All three runs before Vargas' ninth-inning homer came in the first inning, with both starting pitchers settling in for quality starts despite each taking no-decisions. D.J. Hicks had an RBI double to score Aderling Mejia, who had reached on a walk in the top of the first inning, to give the Miracle (16-15, 61-37) a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the frame, Cameron Garfield poked a two-run single to plate D'Vontrey Richardson and Nick Ramirez. Both Richardson and Ramirez had two hits each. Tyler Cravy (3-1, 2.75 ERA) turned in his second consecutive quality start, going seven innings for his longest outing of the season. The righty surrendered just one run and has allowed more than one run in just one of his four starts. Cravy scattered six hits and walked four with five strikeouts on the night. Since June 11, Cravy has a 1.41 ERA covering 35 innings over nine appearances. Matt Tomshaw matched Cravy's seven frames as he held Brevard to four hits. He walked only one, struck out six and was charged with the two first-inning runs. The current eight-game homestand at Space Coast Stadium continues on Thursday night at 6:35 p.m., with the Bradenton Marauders coming to Viera for a four-game set. Chad Pierce (5-3, 3.49) will start for the Manatees against Bradenton's Adrian Sampson (3-6, 6.04) in the series opener. Brevard County Box Score Brevard County Play-by-Play
  24. Final: Brevard County 10, Fort Myers 4 Manatees halt skid with 10-4 win over Miracle Brevard's offense and bullpen comes up big in blowout of Fort Myers By Andy Towne / Brevard County Manatees AUDIO: Game Highlights AUDIO: Santo Manzanillo on the Pregame Show VIERA, Fla. - A strong performance from the bullpen was matched by a strong performance from the offense as the Brevard County Manatees snapped a three-game losing streak with a 10-4 victory over the Fort Myers Miracle on Tuesday night at Space Coast Stadium. Brevard County (15-14 overall, 52-44 second half) starting pitcher Cody Scarpetta (0-4, 6.57 ERA) was unable to make it through the top of the first inning as he walked four men and allowed a two-run single to Matt Koch, while recording just two outs. A brigade of Manatees' relievers stepped up and held one of the best offenses in the Florida State League to just two runs over the final 8.1 frames. With the bullpen taking charge for most of the game, the offense took Scarpetta off the hook for the loss by putting up four runs on five singles and a fielder's choice in the fourth inning. Mitch Haniger homered for the second consecutive night as his two-run shot in the fifth extending Brevard's lead to 6-2. Mark Williams earned the win in his longest outing of the season as he tossed 4.1 scoreless innings in relief. He escaped a bases loaded situation when he came on in the top of the first and then allowed just three hits until Matt Miller came on in the sixth. Miller surrendered a triple to Byron Buxton, with Buxton scoring on a wild pitch for Miller's only run allowed in two innings. Miller fanned two and surrendered two hits. Santo Manzanillo worked himself into and out of trouble, with a trio of singles loading the bases before he rolled a double play ball to end the inning and leave two runners in scoring position. Up 6-3 heading into the bottom of the eighth, Brevard County batted around in the inning as they posted four more runs on five singles and two walks to take a 10-3 lead. The only other Fort Myers (15-15, 60-37) run came on a solo homer off the bat of Buxton against Tommy Toledo in the top of the ninth. In a combine 8.1 innings from the bullpen, no walks were issued. Offensively, eight different Manatees recorded at least one base hit, with all nine men reaching base. Haniger, Nick Ramirez and Greg Hopkins each crossed the plate twice, while D'Vontrey Richardson, Haniger and Hopkins were all credited with two RBI each. Five hitters had two-hit games, as the 'Tees tallied 13 hits on the night. The Manatees and the Miracle will play the final contest in the season series on Wednesday night. A win for Brevard County would give the club a tie in the current four-game series and a season series win after taking both games played in Fort Myers in June. Tyler Cravy (3-1, 2.98) will look to continue a particularly impressive stretch on the mound when he takes the ball at 6:35 p.m. against Miguel Soliman (1-4, 7.46). Since the All-Star break, Cravy is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in seven appearances with three of those outings being starts. Brevard County Box Score Brevard County Play-by-Play
