  1. I don't think Suppan is really as bad as 'anyone's better than this guy!' We'll see about that, but I would be very safe assuming he will be in the bottom 10% of all pitchers this year.
  2. 84 wins, no playoffs. Way too many question marks (3B, CF, RF, SP, even 2B and another OLD C). This team is one major injury to either Braun, Fielder, Escobar, Gallardo, Wolf, or Davis away from being a 78 win team imo. Two major injuries to that core of players and they are looking at 70 wins, depending on the length of the injury. There is no outfield or infield depth in the organization (especially with Gamel taking 7 steps back at this point), and Corey Hart looks like he could very well mail in a Hardy shaped turd this year. Sorry to poop in anyone's Cheerios, but I'm not high on this season. How can I be when Jeff Suppan will be serving up twice baked every 5 days?
  3. I guess TH and I share the same bias.
  4. It's because the ability to hit for extra bases doesn't help much with your teammates getting on base ahead of you or driving you in. Craig doesn't drive many runs in or score much because he slaps singles around all day. Then I believe he gets doubled up like 80% of the time after he hits his single. I might be wrong, probably.
  5. There isn't a reason to discard him when it is likely he will be the best option at a later time. So just stash him in the bullpen until two or three starters go down? That's not good for the Brewers (wasted roster spot and likely costing Parra or Narveson) or Jeff Suppan (sitting there rotting and not pitching). That would appear to be the wost decision in my mind, but that's my bias I have to deal with. Clearly their intention is to assemble the worst roster they can Clearly, suspicions are arising.
  6. This is where you misunderstand their motive. They both want to win. That is much more important to them than getting any value out of money that has already been spent. Its a business, so its obvious the true motive is to make money. Winning is the best way to make money, so obviously they both want to win. Not to hijack the thread from CC discussion, but since I am entrenched in this personal bias against Suppan I would like to know: who honestly believes Suppan can help the Brewers win games in 2010? Once you find about 10-15% of people may actually think he can, then answer honestly, where are Mevlin and Attanasio's motives when his is in the rotation to begin the season? Can you honestly say their motives are to win games when they throw a pitcher out there that clearly is being out-pitched by others?
  7. Yes, you have your bias that Suppan is worthless. That is not a personal bias, it is borderline fact and will be proven so within the next year. And my opinion on what I think the Brewers are going to do is formed by reading reports and listening to people who are close to the team (since I am not), and NOT by me thinking the Brewers will do the stupid thing. Its a truly tough decision for management to make considering all the coin involved. If I am Attanasio or Melvin, I want to try every possible method to get some return on this investment. I can understand their personal bias. As a fan, it is clear to me that there is very little chance of squeezing any value out of Suppan this year, and he will likely be out of MLB as early as this season. If you are a fan and actually think Suppan can help the Brewers in 2010, that would be a personal bias that makes no sense to me.
  8. You are trying to read tea leaves and are letting your own biases affect you. What? My bias says cut bait. How does that segue to give him a chance to prove himself?
  9. I would be relieved if Stetter was showing better this spring. I didn't think Schoeneweis was going to make the club, but I wish I had more confidence in a situational lefty at this point.
  10. Demonstrate how this appears to be the case. Its just my opinion (albeit a bit exaggerated with the number of chances) based on comments from Macha and the press following the team in ST. If you claim that 2 out of the 4 homers given up by a pitcher were not legit, you might be following a predetermined protocol regarding the status of said pitcher. Its a ridiculous comment, and it speaks volumes to what I am now expecting. That said, I will rejoice if/when Suppan is no longer tainting the Brewer uni.
  11. I find the whole quote trwi7 linked extremely frustrating. Ditto this. But Macha is definitely not stupid. He is running the agenda laid out by management. While it appears they are resolved to giving Suppan another 20+ chances to prove his worth, I certainly don't have to like it. He clearly has nothing left to give with his right arm.
  12. I am shocked to learn that Elijah Dukes has his own camp. No doubt every person in that camp is paid to be there. I read further into the comments of the article and saw a poster say, "And the Skins just signed Rex Grossman. Ugh." I got a chuckle out of that.
  13. Sheets has faced 22 batters in ST so far, walking one and striking one out. Batters are hitting .409 against him. He may very well turn it on, but not an encouraging start regardless.
  14. Escobar is steadily securing the #2 spot in the lineup.
  15. Personally, I think Bill Hall's biggest problem is he constantly tries to hit home runs. He's gone all or nothing, and nothing is generally the net of that approach.
  16. I would be hurt too if I gave up two grand slams in a game. That must have hurt real bad for a while.
  17. The Bill Hall situation makes me feel at least a bit encouraged. Conversely, the Hall handling discourages me. They gave him almost 4 months to turn it around, when most people felt he wouldn't. How long do they leave Suppan in the rotation? How many taters are too many?
  18. His throwing the ball into the stands with two outs probably stuck in the fans' minds. It was dumb, but it didn't cost them the division. Ahhh the Cubs, I don't know how we survived without them as a rival all those years.
  19. He wanted to be traded because he didn't have a set position, and now he realizes he is what the Brewers pegged him as? Catch up Bill! I wish him the best in Boston, but the bottom line is he needs to start hitting again.
  20. This is where I'm at, sadly. While these numbers are insane, I have a feeling there are plenty of mashers that have made a nice living against Suppan. I get a bit bummed thinking about how much Prince would have benefited from Suppan being on a different NL team.
  21. We went to three games at Nationals Park last year, and announced attendance for each game was around 20k. We bought pricey field level seats (third base side) the first game (went from 15th to 2nd row by 5th inning, granted it was rainy), had a group outing with cheaper seats the next night (started in upper and moved to left field bleachers), and went with cheapest available the Sunday day game (upper RF). I couldn't find too many poor seats in the park. Its rather compact and very open, like whatever they call Jacob's Field now. Moving around didn't seem to be a problem either, and there were plenty of Brewer fans there. Good advice by someone about the Metro. It gets crazy after the game (even with only 12K or so coming from the game, couldn't imagine a sellout). I wouldn't want to be loading a card at that time. I agree the food at Nationals Park is above average. I am starting to question some of the Miller Park vendors (cough*Klements*cough) after having such great eats at other ballparks.
  22. I can honestly say that for every telecast in one way or another. If you are going to ramble mindlessly, some added context would be nice.
  23. TMJ feed is not working on At Bat, but I still love the app!
  24. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I mean come on, is baseball really this petty? Now I want payback!
