  1. I have never tried the fasting. You may want to try doing more reps with less amount of weight. Good luck on your journey.
  2. About ten days ago I was grocery shopping. Wearing a mask and practicing social distancing. As I was waiting to check out I noticed a gentleman with a mask entering the store. Right behind him was a guy without a mask, the masked man held the door closed and shouted he wouldn't let the guy without a mask in. The guy without a mask tried to enter the store through the out door. That ended up being blocked by the masked man. Well the unmasked guy went to his truck and got a mask. Interesting!
  3. 18 years ago I weighed over 500 pounds. I am down to 237. Hope to drop another 30 pounds. Lost all that by mostly not eating or drinking as much. I did cut out fast food entirely. Having both my hips replaced did allow for a better exercise routine.
  4. In 1992 I got a flu shot. Before the nurse emptied a quarter of the syringe, the injection sight turned as hard as a rock, turned red, got hot and swelled up a good inch. She stopped the injection and I was kept in the Dr's. office for several hours for observation before I could go back to work. Have not had a flu shot since. I also haven't had the flu or a cold since I started doing a shot of fire cider every morning for close to four years.
  5. I have been a home brewer off and on since the early 80's. I hope to have a Bourbon Barrel Old Oak Ale. It is a dark beer that sits in the secondary for 6 - 12 months with a cup of bourbon soaked oak chips. I have friends who had guests from Germany who had some. They wanted to meet the master brewer. It was the best beer they have had. Sadly I was out of town that day. Go Brewers!!!
  6. Thanks for all your hard work.
  7. Nine games against the Cubs in April. The next series against them is in the end of June with one in August and one other in September. It seems kind of odd. I guess to so odd. They play St. Louis nine games in September.
  8. That really bugs me. There was a good chance that person knew they were going to the store. How difficult is it to write out most of the check before you get there. It is easy enough to do. To write the amount down probably takes no longer than inserting your card in the reader and entering your pin number.

    Pizza

For those in the Milwaukee area, the Journal Sentinel had an article yesterday on the best take and bake pizza. The article can be found online in the food section.
  10. I live about 20 minutes south of Soldiers Grove. I remember that feral pig incident. Not much after that hit the news, someone hit and killed a large feral pig. If I remember correctly it was like 300 pounds. They went down the road a ways to call the Sheriff. By the time the Sheriff arrived someone had gutted the pig and took it.
  11. I have gotten several calls that had my name and number. I only have a landline. It has gotten to the point I never answer the phone. My friends know to leave a message and I will call them back or answer while they are leaving the message. If that happens, I let them know that they are being recorded, so keep it clean(:-).

    Pizza

I am surprised no one has mentioned Papa Murphy's. That was our go to place when we lived in Brookfield. Since we moved to rural Wisconsin I buy Wewalka refrigerated pizza crust (2 choices found at Woodman's and Walmart) and make my own. Not much more effort than buying a frozen one and adding extra stuff.

Is Marty's (sp)on Bluemound Rd. in Brookfield still around. In the 60's when I was in High School it was the place to go.
  15. Thanks, Hawing!!! I've been a "lurker" since pretty much the beginning. I greatly appreciate what you and the other Administrators do. This is the best Brewer Fan site ever. The bread turned out really, really good. I am blessed that I have kept Marcia's starter active, and just as good. Go Brewers!!!
  16. The Sourdough bread I make is a from a starter my wife started 25 years ago. I have managed to keep in alive since her passing 6 months ago. If fact I started the process to make two loaves this morning. I fed it in the AM, 10 hours later I will feed it again. Tomorrow I feed it again in the morning. 6-8 hours later I will mix the final dough cover it and return it to the fridge. The next morning I will remove it from the fridge and let it come to room temperature add the salt and knead for 10 minutes. divide it into balls let rest for 15 minutes. Form the two balls into loaves, place in greased loaf pans. Poke the top of the loaves generously with a dinner fork. Let rise until doubled in size. Bake in a 450° preheated over for 10 minutes and then lower the temperature to 350° for 35 more minutes. Always turns out great.
  17. My mom and her twin sister called a roll of paper towels a roll of towel paper. They grew up near Fond Du Lac. I grew up in Brookfield and still call it a bubbler and a davenport. When I was ten I was at a resort near Phoenix and asked a lifeguard by the pool where the bubbler was. She almost died laughing when she found out what I was looking for.
  18. I don't post very often. But I visit this site everyday. My spelling will probably be incorrect however here I go. "I've an idear let's paak the kar over dare in dat arear." I lived there for 12 years it bugged me greatly. Not fun "ainahey." Sorry!!!
  19. "I don't know why we keep fueling this guy's nonsense... I have rarely seen a poster disrupt the entire message board as much as this guy does." Thanks Turbo!!! I have been a lurker since the beginning. But, as you can see I don't post very often. Got beat up on the AOL Brewers page too often long ago. This is a great site. I hope the moderators can keep it that way.
  20. Seldom post. Have been lurking since around 2003. I check in everyday and greatly appreciate most of the posts I read. I retired at 49, my better half stopped working at 45. How you ask? In our mid twenties we both worked for an international corporation, I as a production manager, she are a research chemist. We decided then to live on one income and save the rest for an early retirement at 45. Hoped to open a Ma and Pa bird feeding store. While our peers had their 5 bedroom homes in the "right" neighborhood and drove several luxury vehicles. We lived in a one bedroom home in the country and drove an economy sedan. Not two but one. We heated with wood, grew most of our vegetables and only went out to dinner several times a month. In 1992 the division I worked for closed. Ugh!! Thankfully, we had already made plans to open a business. Sold our home, moved to Wisconsin and ran a small business for a couple years. Sold that (broke even), she stopped working as I took a job with a competitor. 3 plus years (2004) later retired to Southwestern Wisconsin. Still heat with wood, grow most of our vegetables and are living happily ever after.
  21. I have been a lurker since late 2003/2004. I visit everyday (several times a day actually) since I retired. When I read this to my wife of 40 years. She asked if I wrote that. We live in western Wisconsin and frequently travel the River Road to La Crosse. It drives me nuts when people do not use cruise control. Don't get me on cell phone usage. Last time we went to Milwaukee, we had to "escape on the shoulder" 4 maybe 5 time thanks to inattentive driving by phone users. UGH!!!
  22. Have you looked into Southwest Wisconsin. The Boscobel school district seems to be pretty advanced. Says the guy without kids. Good luck in your search.
  23. Southwest Wisconsin has a lot of gems to discover. The Old Oak Inn in Soldiers Grove is wonderful. They have the best fish fry on Friday and a great Saturday dinner menu. Mineral Point is also awesome. Praire du Chien has a lot of interesting things to see and do. Plus, the apple orchards in Gays Mills are impressive. We have three cats and two spare bedrooms if you are interested in staying with strangers. Mike and Marcia
  24. That drives me nuts. We travel on Hwy 14 near Spring Green regularly and in never fails that is what happens. As soon as the passing lane ends they go back to 50 miles per hour or less.
  25. We have 8, 5' x 10' raised beds. Five foot wide is a little too wide. I can reach the middle of the bed but my wife cannot. Have been using raised beds since the mid 80's. They are great for square foot gardening and are a lot easier to keep weeded. Two of them have trellises made from cattle panels. We grow our cucumbers and tall vine tomatoes on them. We also extend the season with hoop houses. We already have both hoop houses planted and should be harvesting veggies in a week or two. We normally can get fresh greens in early December. We live in rural western Wisconsin and see upwards of a dozen deer daily. We have found that if we fertilize the yard around the gardens with Milwaukee's own Milorganite it keeps the deer away. But you have to do it several times a year.
