I dont understand how this is a PR move. This regime does not seem to operate in that fashion. If the kid was scheduled to be our opening day starter next year, then super 2 and extra years of control are completely moot. Think of it this way. If he comes up for two months and lights the world on fire, then great, its a great springboard into next spring at no extra cost. If he comes up for two months and is overmatched and hits a .196, then he starts in AAA next year and maybe doesnt come up until July 1, thereby getting back that extra year anyway. Im pretty sure Stearns is aware of service time, arby clocks, free agency, etc. and I highly doubt he is sacrificing any of that to appease Joe Lunchbucket who has most likely never heard of Orlanda Arcia before the starting lineups are announced. Chill out everyone.
