  1. Expansion isnt really an option, IMO, not with Seattle and QC out there. More likely relocation. Maybe Florida, Arizona, I am sure there are others. All it takes is one motivated billionaire.
  2. I dont even know if the Badgers have a "shooter" on the team.
  3. What is the story with Dmitrick Trice? Will he miss the entire year? If he does, are King and Trice eligble for medical red shirts?
  4. Currie is the only scholarship player for next year, Hedstrom is coming in next year without a ride and will receive one for the following four years. It's thought that at least one of AI, CT & AVV will transfer/leave, opening up another. Schlundt's is believed to be a one year scholarship only, so there are two definite schollies available for next season, maybe more depending on attrition....problem is, they are striking out on the guys they are going for now. They completely botched this class...Herro's timing was really unfortunate, but wasn't completely unexpected, he had almost decommited back in July. We can only hope. The program needs to completely reboot. I think they have a really strong base with their Freshman and Sophmore classes. Pritzl needs to do something next year, he was supposed to be a "4 star" recruit, which are rare for WI, and he hasnt lived up to that hype, but there is still time for him to turn it around.
  5. Pinson was never committed to Wisconsin. Wisconsin was on his final four schools list, but Missouri was always the favorite from what I have read.
  6. What is the scholarship availability like for the next incoming class? Only Moesch graduates. Schlundt was given a scholarship this year, but is only a Jr. By my estimation that leaves just one scholarship available unless the one given to Schlundt as only for a year. Then there are two. I see Wisconsin has at least two guys coming in next year and they have offers out on one or two more. I dont know how it all works. But that junior class is terrible. Illikainen, Thomas, Van Vliet offer next to nothing and Iverson hasnt put it all together and is super inconsistent. I cant get over Van Vliet. Anyone have thoughts on him? Any hope for him or any of the rest of the class?
  7. This team is just god awful. Go back and look at the roster of that 97-98 team. It was dreadful, but this team might be worse. At least that team ended up having hope in that freshman class of Kowske, Vershaw, Kelley.
  8. I would love to give me two cents here. I fall on the trwi7 and paul253 side of things. 1) I do not believe Milwaukee will ever get an NHL franchise while I am alive (Im 40) 2) I do believe that Milwaukee and Wisconsin would support and NHL team and that it would be successful 3) The Milwaukee Metro area is NOT a hotbed for hockey, which is WHY I think it will work. Was Phoenix/Atlanta/Dallas/Raleigh hotbeds? Hell no. Having an NHL team CREATES the interest. We live in a cold weather climate and Wisconsin as a state is a pathetic hockey community - but look at Madison. It is a hockey hotbed BECAUSE of the Badgers. 4) Hockey is a wealthy person's sport - I read once that of the 4 major sports hockey fans had the highest income. That means that it is even more accessible by the Waukesha, Ozaukee, Washington County types that live in the area. 5) All it takes is one ownership group/rich person to make it happen. If the right person came along and wanted a team, we would have one. Billionaires do not grow on trees though. By the way, the NHL was all but coming here until Petit pulled the plug, it wasnt the other way around. 6) Families from Fond du Lac and Sheboygan all the way up HWY 41 and 43 to Green Bay and North would be coming down for games. As it sits, in Oshkosh, I either go to Badger hockey games or Green Bay Gambler games vs. Admirals. I have been to two Admirals games in my life. With an NHL team I would be there as many times a year as I would allow. Attendance would be just fine.
  9. This. 100% this. I’m disappointed in how much grief the guy gets.
  10. Anyone worried about the age of our OF in two years if we trade Brinson Harrison Phillips and Santana? It will Yelich and two rotting corpses.
  11. Ive come somewhat full circle on my thoughts of this significant trade. Stay the course. Keep Brinson and Phillips and run them out there in CF this year. Keep Santana. Sign a starting pitcher and a 2b. I like Yelich, but I just dont think clearing out the farm is the best move right now. THe only ones ready to come up are Brinson, Phillips and maybe Dubon.
  12. Hey man, if you are going to claim to be an insider, but provide vague info, you have to expect skeptics. I'd love to see Yelich as much as anyone here. But your posts are getting a lot of fans' hopes up around here in what's been a slow as molasses offseason. I hope you are right, but I guess nothing would surprise me at this point. So are you saying he is making this stuff up? You are upset that people are getting their hopes up about a baseball team in January, and that the trade may fall through? Come on, this is ridiculous. Hh19 is giving us something that I feel is legit based upon past experiences with his sources. If you think he is a troll and making all of this up then stop opening the thread. I for one am glad to have SOMETHING to talk about. It’s better than clancyphile coming up with a made up trade proposal that ends with Ryan Braun playing 3b again.
  13. You may be 100% correct Greenleaf, but Im not sure how much value Keon Broxton has to us or anyone else for that matter. He'd be a 4th OF at best for NYY. A lot would be contingent on how much of Ellsbury's salary they retained. I guess I thought Torres's value had gone up a bit as he neared the majors. I love Shaw, dont want to trade him, but cant figure out what else NY would want from MIL. I think Betances has some value even though he is set to be a FA and NYY would be selling a bit low, more value alone than Broxton. I could also see a similar deal where it is just salary relief for NYY and Shaw isnt involved. Say Broxton and Ray for Ellsbury, Betances, Sheffield and Abreu.
  14. You want some completely unsubstantiated speculation? Yankees get: Travis Shaw Keon Broxton Brewers get: Jacoby Ellsbury Dellin Bentances Gleybar Torres Albert Abreu Hernan Perez moves to 3b. Torres starts at 2nd. I just made all that up though.
  15. Id rather trade Brinson than Santana.
  16. Full Disclosure first: Im sour about crypto. I bought 55 litecoins in August with an average about $70. Instability in China tanked it to $45 in a matter of hours and I jumped ship. primarily because I had an unexpected housing expense. So yeah Im sour about it...but honest question time. What happens when bitcoin starts becoming accepted at places like Ebay, Amazon, Wal Mart, etc, and nobody spends it? Because that is what I see happening. I see it being adopted but then nobody spending it. Nobody is buying to spend, they are buying to profit/invest (thats why I bought). But it keeps going up because its the future of currency. But its not, because nobody in their right mind is going to spend it. When ebay starts accepting it and nobody uses it, then what?
  17. I have been a proponent of this, however, there are two issues. 1) Too many "power" conference teams to go into 4 sixteen team conferences evenly. Some Big 12 schools would get kicked to mid majors. 2) mid majors are completely shut out of all possibility of playing in the playoff. Even if they are all but shut out now, there is always a chance for a Utah or Boise to make it. Today's completely fun and complete waste of time - I Limited FBS to 128 teams (there are currently 130). Made eight 16 team conferences. Each conference has two 8 team divisions. Each regular season schedule consists of 11 games. The 7 teams in your division and 4 cross division games. If you finish in the top 4 of your division in a given year, you play each of the top 4 teams in the cross division next year, bottom 4 you play bottom 4. Conference championship game becomes first round of what is now a 16 team playoff. 8 conference champions then get seeded. An example Wisconsin schedule: Division games (7) Minnesota, Iowa, Northwestern, (and then team such as) No. Ill, Ball St. Toledo, Bowling Green. Cross Division games 4) Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Western Michigan. Your 8 conference champions could look like this: Clemson (over Miami) Auburn (Over LSU), Wisconsin (Over Notre Dame), Washington (over Iowa St), Ohio State (Over Penn State), USC (over Stanford), Oklahoma (over TCU), Virgina Tech (over Missouri)
  18. I am a huge Wisconsin fan/homer. I am not at all concerned about their CFP ranking because I think its about right. I DONT think the Badgers can win all three games vs. Iowa, Michigan and Big10 Title game. If they do, great, they will be top four. If they lose one, with their schedule, they probably dont deserve to be in top 4 with 1 loss anyway.
  19. Ben Sheets. Favorite Brewer pitcher of all time.
  20. More power to him. Does it disappoint me as a Wisconsin homer that he is leaving? Hell yes. But I also am confident in where this program is that not only will WI be fine without him, buy they would probably beat the team he signs with. I grew up here in Wisconsin, I went to Madison for school. Its a really good football, basketball and academic school. An incredible college atmosphere and town. I could not imagine anything better than playing for that school. But not all people that grow up here feel the same way, and I understand that.
  21. RIP The Thursday afternoon day game. What was once a tradition (to take off Thursday/Friday) will be no more as Wednesday getaway days take over. It's just not as easy to take off and in the middle of the week. Very disappointed.
  22. Why wouldnt they resign him? He isn't even eligible for Free Agency until after 2021. I can't imagine they would non tender him.
  23. True, however, it's really cable/internet combo package cost - internet only cost vs Hulu and Sling, which often is only like $5-10 per month. In fact, when I tried to cut cable recently, they offered me the combo deal for less than the internet only deal I was aiming to get. Of course, that's pretty limited cable (although mine still included HBO and all the OnDemand content that comes with that) and it starts to rack back up if you start adding HD boxes and more channels, but if you're already getting internet, it usually doesn't cost much if anything to get some basic cable as well. This is sort of what I was talking about. It is a lot of rigamarole to save $5-10 bucks a month, when if it were that big of a deal I could just brew extra coffee at home every morning and take it to work vs. buying a fresh one at the coffee shop across the street and save that much and more. I pay for Charter Spectrum Cable and Internet package. It's like $130 a month. I hate it, but I dont have to hunt and peck to find my local and sometimes national sports. I watch a ton of Brewers and Badgers, and I watch a lot of hockey, which is NBCSN and FOX Sports North, both of which I get on cable and would be blacked out on other deals. For local news, I also prefer Fox11 in Green Bay for their local high school sports coverage, and being in Oshkosh it doesnt come in at all with an antenna. So its a no brainer for me to go with Charter.
  24. The funny thing is, I don't watch any tv beyond local news and sports, but mostly local sports. The only way to be sure I can watch badgers brewers bucks and Minnesota wild is with cable subscription.
