  1. You have 73 posts here and 5 of them are repeated fear-mongoring posts about Wang. Why? He doesn't throw BP and saying so is quite frankly and blatantly dishonest. 2 home runs allowed in nearly 50 innings. BP is indicative of home runs...and monster ones at that. Wang is a talented young man. There hasn't been any conversation regarding him as a closer, but I guess I wouldn't mind a guy that can throw strikes as a closer...unless you like Turnbow/Axford types closing out ballgames for you? Get off our wang! Yeah Wang doesn't throw BP that is more Duke's role on this team. Are you Wang's brother? Duke does have a lower ERA than Wang this spring. It is going to be interesting when Gorzelanny comes back. Duke will probably be odd man out unless he's performing.
  2. Glad you took the time to read all my posts. thanks. Like I previously stated...If he was such a complete and absolute stud the pirates would of made the decision to put him on their 40 man...enough said...I'm done Wanging. We'll just see how it plays out over the next two to three years.
  3. My hope is they won't use him as a closer this year. Wang throws strikes also throws BP.
  4. Brewers should have drafted Bumgarner instead of Laporta...was it 2007?
  5. Thomas Keeling the player sent over to the Braves for Francisco was released recently. Last year's article about the trade. http://www.rantsports.com/mlb/2013/06/04/tom-keeling-brings-good-return-for-atlanta-braves-in-francisco-trade/
  6. Me Too!!! Slower and older. I hope he doesn't have a lot of errors to go with his .210 average.
  7. I don't know if the future Wang will be good. Duke hasn't been that bad as a relief pitcher as opposed to a starter. He has the experience to pitch against MLB players. On the other hand, I can see Wang having beginning success as MLB players have not seem him yet. Wang doesn't cost as much as Duke and you may be keeping Wang longer than Duke. Just bringing Wang in for mop up situations isn't going to help him. Duke is going to be better at coming in with runners on and various situations. I always look at who's going to help us win...now. I think Duke offers more now but Wang could offer more later. Flip a coin.
  8. I think you're looking at this the wrong way. The guys in AA/AAA you mention aren't with the kind of upside Wang possesses. Those AA/AAA guys you mention are Lefty RPs strictly. The Brewers don't have a legitimate LH SP in the system in all honesty. Wang, after his 60IP or so this year of being even at 5ERA...Heck to me 6.5ERA would be cool by me just for the fact that the team then gains a LH SP that is immediately the best in the organization. You want to dump that opportunity for AA/AAA guys who's ceiling is that of LH RP? And the idea of trading with Pittsburgh to me honestly, if I'm them, not happening. If I were to jokingly consider it being Pittsburgh I'd be asking for either Wily Peralta or Will Smith for Wang. Pittsburgh has nothing but time to develop Wang. The only way you entice them to trade him is to give up SPs that are ready today of Wang's potential who have decent team control. So no to Lohse/Estrada/Gallardo/ and Garza. It would only be Peralta/Smith. I don't see Thornburg being an upgrade to Pittsburgh's Staff this year/future as Peralta or Smith can. So the answer to get the best LH SP in the Brewers organization is to stick Wang on your 25man for this entire season and use him out of the bullpen. There will be plenty of occasions to toss him out there for a LH matchup or pitch him 2-3ip in long relief in a situation where the score is out of hand. He won't be a waste of space. He is the perfect Rule 5 player to add to your team because you can get your IP out of him in times you don't need a 3ERA guy to be on the mound, where 5ERA is okay. Livan Hernandez was that player 2 years ago for cripes sake! So what I hear most people saying is that the Brewers are so bad that they need to take a gulf coast league guy and put him on the 25 man roster and whatever he does, we will throw him in the minors next year and develop him? I don't think he will develop into anything one, two or three years down the line but let me pose a question? If Wang is so good, how come the pirates didn't protect him? Also, remember the Brewers have done a fantastic job of developing pitchers...NOT. I'm just not in agreement with the whole thing going forward.
  9. Does anyone know how much Wang was signed for after his first contract was voided?
  10. Should Wang get a roster spot? NO! Yesterday he faced the first legitimate lineup in his career. Gave up 3 runs. I would say that his ERA, if he stays will be above 5 and all of a sudden all those so called experts that loved Wang will be scratching their heads...hope I'm wrong but that's how I see it. If I'm wrong, I'll be the first one to admit it. The Brewers have guys in double and triple A that could perform the same way Wang did in spring training (Small sample size and not facing the best hitters) plus they have put in the time and extended training needed to get to the next level. I personally think its BS that Wang is given the Golden Ticket opportunity before organizational guys that have put in the time. Sometimes it just comes down to dollars and sense (cents changeup). IMHO keeping him on the 25 man roster makes no sense. I have no problem trading for him. If you're going to trade for him, put him in Wisconsin and let's see how he does before crowning him the Rule 5 pick of the decade.
  11. Sorry to see Alan Williams on that list...Thought he had a good chance being a lefty. Career numbers didn't look all that bad. Good luck to him.
  12. I saw Wang pitch and his size compared with the Major league guys is very noticeable. He has pitched remarkably well but as someone else stated his experience level was at the GCL. I think making a trade with Pittsburg and putting him in the minors is the best bet. Stick him at High A or AA and lets see how his numbers look with extended innings. I just don't see him taking a spot on the 25 man roster.
  13. Reynolds must of heard me talking about him...lol. His bat woke up.
  14. Wow that's a big difference between the two...NOT. So one gets on a few more times than the other...we are still left with who is going to drive them in once they get on...I'm so tired of seeing experienced veterans that can't hit get opportunity after opportunity. Personally, I'd rather see Rogers at first base than these two. He only made two of the best plays at first base in all of spring training, plus you can pay him the minimum. I can't wait to see how this whole first base situation plays out during the year. I hope I'm wrong about whoever they keep but we'll see.
  15. I just don't understand how Reynolds could be in the mix unless you want a first baseman who will bat equal to or below .225
  16. His career numbers looked pretty good except for last year at AAA. Just goes to show that anyone, anytime is on the chopping block.
  17. I need to agree with you on Haniger. He seems to make the most of every opportunity that he is given.
  18. I would say that you pretty much summarized it correctly. Approved supplements could run hundreds of dollars over a season. Road Meals=Fast Food. Parents have to supplement the players. Bottom line...these players are getting shafted and something needs to change. I read somewhere that minor league hockey players have a players association maybe it's time for baseball to step up and do what's right by these players. Every player who is drafted has put in a substantial amount of time (years) developing their craft and deserved to be paid a working wage. I think an IHL minor league hockey player makes $50,000 to $80,000 a year. If you cut 10% off the Major League players salaries and gave it to the minor league guys, they would at least have a descent wage. Granted most of the players in the minors will work for peanuts because they are living their dream.
  19. I have 2 separate thoughts on this on this and similar posts. 1) K-Rod, he's a first class freaking douche and character should always matter, maybe that speaks to a larger issue with our society in general that so many people won't care who or what a guy is as long as he offers the perception of helping them in some way... in this case the "we're a better a team with him" mentality. In addition to his abusive past his mechanics also stink so he's prone to extended bouts of leaving the ball up where he gets shelled. As TLB noted, we have no idea which K-Rod is going to show up this season, he could be a disaster regardless of the price. 2) Just because a contract may not be as bad as a previously horrible FA contract handed out by the organization, that doesn't make the current contract being discussed a good deal, or money well spent. I always have and will always struggle with the reverse justification of "well it was better than player X's contract"... doesn't matter if people are talking about Hammonds, Suppan, Hall, Gagne, whomever. While that idea may be true on paper, spending money poorly is still detrimental to the organization, there is really no excusing away dead money. The organization literally has a ton of good relief and back of the rotation options between AAA and AA, we didn't need K-Rod on a 1 year deal to solidify anything. This is like having 4 1st basemen on the 40 man roster, with 2 more veterans on ST invites, or bringing in more 3-5 starting pitching types, it just doesn't make much sense as those moves do nothing to push the organization forward. These strategies continue to be incredibly micro in nature, where they only way they really make sense is if you narrow the focus to needing "Y number of established veterans for the 2014 MLB club". It's entirely possible that a youngster like Goforth would have outperformed K-Rod if given the chance. Now that he's signed I don't really have a choice other than to hope he pitches well, but that doesn't mean I have to like the deal or the idea of bringing him back in general. I am going to 100% agree with what you just said. Any number of guys could outperform K-Rod. I would of liked to see 3 million spent on a hitter, but 3 mil isn't going to get anything nowadays.
  20. Saw him play several times in the AFL. Good defensive catcher. Didn't see enough of him hitting so don't know about his offense.
  21. These so called experts mostly rank prospects according to draft status and hear-say which is a joke. Based on actual numbers and what I have seen...Jason Rogers should be ranked higher and D'vontrey Richardson should be on there. Delmonico should definitely be off...horrible D and not much at the plate. I would like to see Delmonico prove me wrong this year.
  22. This is the best top 4 that I have read, with the exception of Coulter. Moving a guy from catcher to any other position player isn't going to help him. If he has difficulty stopping passed balls, how is he going to do in the field? Trying to hide guys in the outfield doesn't fly for me. The Brewers minor league clubs already have too many bad outfielders that actually were drafted to play outfield. There my rant is complete.
