  1. Weiner on Biogenesis leaks MLBPA executive director issues statement Major League Baseball Players Association NEW YORK -- Major League Baseball Players Association executive director Michael Weiner today issued the following statement regarding the leaking of Biogenesis-related information to the media: "The leaking of confidential information to members of the media interferes with the thoroughness and credibility of the Biogenesis investigation. These repeated leaks threaten to harm the integrity of the Joint Drug Agreement and call into question the required level of confidentiality needed to operate a successful prevention program. The Players want a clean game and they demand a testing program that is not only the toughest in professional sports, but one that guarantees each player due process rights accompanied by strict confidentiality provisions. As I stated last month, the Players Association remains in contact with the Commissioner's Office regarding the investigation, and they continue to assure us that no decisions regarding discipline will be made until the investigation is complete. It would be unfortunate if anyone prejudged the results of the investigation based on unsubstantiated leaks that are a clear violation of the JDA."
  2. Agreed. I did not buy into his talent during his recent success in 2011/2012. To me he was the pitcher that epitomized the "good luck" pitcher with the Cardinals. I am starting to believe now. I don't think you can trade both of them. But you need to deal one. And Gallardo's age makes him way more attractive. C'mon, he's no Suppan...
  3. I could have sworn it was said that the leak came from braun's camp, that it was a friend of his who spilled the beans to begin with. I cant find the article right now, but I know I read that somewhere
  4. He almost certainly lost out on potential endorsements/deals. It's tough to compare Posey and Braun because Posey doesn't have the marketability that Braun has(or did), imo. Posey is kind of vanilla while Braun was one of the most popular players in MLB, high jersey sales, polarizing among fans, etc. He's well spoken, good looking, has that "big city star" vibe and just all-around way more marketable than Posey is. I can only think of the video game(The Show?) commercial that Posey was on a while back. gotcha. im not saying he didnt lose out on endorsements, I just hadnt heard that he lost anything because of this entire ordeal. i mean, did his jersey sales slip? im sure IF he did go this route his lawyers would have it all formulated out and whatnot, but I dont think he'll go that route. he's already said he just wants to put this behind him
  5. but how do you prove that he actually lost endorsements? what endorsements did Posey get that Braun didnt? did he have potential contracts in place that he lost?
  6. wait, HAS braun actually lost ANY endorsement deals through this process thus far? I havent heard of a single issue concerning that, yet.

  8. but there are 80+ games still to be played, so its pretty hard to say that its down to just two players when half the season is left to be played.
  9. also, part of the 100 game suspension is not about, from my understanding, test results, its about the purchasing of PED's, regardless of use. just purchasing, or owning/controlling a PED or banned substance is a suspendable offense, it doesnt even matter if you use it.
  10. while 2002 had the most losses in franchise history... I feel the 2003 team was worse... just... look and TRY to remember that rotation if you can....... ugh, that was so awful. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/MIL/2003.shtml and only 2004 can compare in offensive inability like 2002... http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/MIL/2004.shtml
  11. there is, i can be pretty certain that your set of events is not how any of this played out, and they probably paid with cash, or through a third party, and not from a personal check account
  12. just in CF.. Adam Jones Jacoby Ellsbury Andrew McCutchen Shin-Soo Choo Brett Gardner Colby Rasmus Mike Trout (57 gms in CF this year)
  13. unbelievable, CG shutout, so awesome!
  14. whats it called when you throw the same thing out there a million times hoping that one of the times it sticks for that "AH HAA!" moment? Thats what OTL is doing.
  15. Gomez on twitter is awesome because its all about him and his son and thanking everyone
  16. they also told Garza that they'd be open to signing him in November if they do trade him, so that HAS to make teams question what they give up for him if they run the chance of losing him back to the cubs
  17. Many Teams Scouting Brewers' Relievers By Tim Dierkes [July 9 at 1:16pm CST] Brewers relievers John Axford, Francisco Rodriguez, and Mike Gonzalez are a popular bunch. A Dodgers scout was sent to Milwaukee this week to watch the available trio, writes Danny Knobler of CBS Sports, while the Red Sox, Orioles and Tigers have scouts in Milwaukee this week and the other NL West teams are interested in the Brewers' relievers as well as Yovani Gallardo. Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports has a new report too, saying the Tigers, Orioles, and Diamondbacks have scouted the Brewers' relievers in recent days and weeks. Morosi says the D'Backs and Brewers have discussed Axford, Rodriguez, and Jim Henderson, while Knobler says the Brewers have told teams Henderson won't be dealt. Interest from the Tigers and Orioles appears more preliminary, writes Morosi, and the Tigers and Brewers have not had formal talks recently. Rodriguez and Gonzalez will be eligible for free agency after the season, while Axford is under team control through 2016 as an arbitration eligible player. As a Super Two with 106 career saves to his credit, Axford's salary jumped to $5MM this year. As Morosi notes, Axford's salary might scare some teams off, though his lack of saves this year will slow down his arbitration raises. Even though a team can technically own Axford's rights through 2016, the focus for a team acquiring him has to be on 2013, with tendering him a contract even for 2014 a decision that will require more information and some thought. It's one of the reasons the Brewers are reportedly willing to move him. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/07/many-teams-scouting-brewers-relievers.html
  18. apparently the indians are considering top rotation arms, either Garza or Gallardo.
  19. yo Carlos, Angry Cat here.... http://awesomegifs.com/wp-content/uploads/grumpy-cat-slow-clap.gif brewers win! 4-3
  20. a recap of my last week being out of the country... foundout when we got to mexico city that milwaukee had just been swept by the pirates, and then I willed myself to not check their scores the entire week we were gone until we landed in atlanta last night... and this is what I felt happened all week. http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/falling.gif
  21. this is the first game ive seen Halton on TV at the plate and he looks massive.
  22. what stetson allie is doing in WV is incredible considering he was drafted out of HS as a 100 MPH FB pitcher
  23. I think those of us are saying that the Brewers in _recent_ history have been a much better franchise than the Pirates. That's an indisputable fact. How many young Pirates fans are really enriched by those multiple championships? Do they have great memories of the "We Are Family" era? Does their recent attendance at PNC Park reflect that rich heritage? It's like how I roll my eyes whenever the Brewers honor the '82 team. I was two years old that year, so I'm not really enriched by the memory of that team. to piggyback off this... there is an entire generation of fans who have NEVER SEEN THE PIRATES HAVE A WINNING RECORD.
  24. wait, where did I say that the brewers were a better franchise than the pirates? you're straight up trolling, arent you?
  25. thornburg brought back up, Gindl back to AAA
