  1. Trent was young for the level he was at by almost 3 years.
  2. Those aren’t Grisham’s numbers, those are Clark’s. But I hope you realize that’s a joke and so would be giving this guy up for the guy you want.
  3. Season two of Sneaky Pete was good but not quite as good as season one for me.
  4. I'm amazed this thread is still kicking. I am kind of hoping he doesn't sign for a while yet just to keep this sucker alive and kicking.
  5. Ryan Hannigan cut loose by CLE today if your interested for real cheap.. In-house options are just as good probably.
  6. Well, 26% of 162 is 42 games. So if he were to get to that 50-60 game mark at 1B, he will need to start some of them against RHP's, which is perfectly fine with me. Expecting a big year.
  7. Hiura's ETA is 2019. He's likely a better hitter right now than all 3 of the 2B options. In a different era, back in 1974, Brewer brass realized in spring training that the kid, Robin Yount, was better than what they had at SS so he made the team at age 18. There was no arbitration years and control years to consider back then. Had there been, he probably would have a nickname other than The Kid. Molitor was a major league ready bat right out of University of Minnesota too and made the jump from Midwest League. Yeah, if this kid proved he could play defense at a good rate, I would have no issue with saying screw it to the system and bringing him up mid-year. The ball just flat out flies off his bat. He is our next generational hitter for the organization. Will be fun to watch.
  8. I think Davies missed a chunk of time and hasn't got his pitch total up yet. This just buys him a little extra time to get that worked out and it gives us our second best pitcher in this rotation a chance to start at home for the season. Sounds like a solid plan. And to the four-man rotation, Counsell has already said that they won't need a 5th to begin the year.
  9. That is awesome. FYI - don't need to have a Twitter account to view it (as is true with most things on Twitter). Thanks for the info. Didn’t realize that.
  10. The Brewers Pay Tribute to The Sandlot If you don't have Twitter, I'm sorry but this is where I found this gem of a video.
  11. Could be our weakest spot going into the season. Hopefully Pina does not get hurt and produces.
  12. But how does Braun look at first?
  13. Yikes. Are we able to blow $3M on an iffy catcher? This outta make those advocating signing a pitcher that much more ticked off.
  14. I guess I just disagree with the notion that Braun is going to play "a lot" of first. If that thing was going well they wouldn't need to suddenly try and get him AB's in RF. Or could it have to do with wanting to keep Yelich in LF more when Braun plays in the OF?
  15. This is what I was referring to.......this poster suggests that Santana will play every day.....and that Braun can't play first......so that basically leaves him as a 4th outfielder because we know Cain and Yelich are playing. CC has specifically stated that Braun will be limted to LF and 1B. If Braun Can't Play first (and that doesn't seem to be going all that well), then he has to play left. Are they then going to move that GG LF that they paid a ton for to RF on a permanent basis where said GG LF's defensive value is significantly reduced? It's not like Braun is a significant defensive upgrade over Santana, Santana is younger and he out hit Braun last year. Braun is getting older, looks to be declining and is prone to nagging injuries. They were trying to trade the guy just to get rid of his salary after all. On most teams I don't think Braun is a 4th ourfielder in the traditional sense. He isn't a back up outfielder. However, this team has three other guys that would start on just about every other team in the league. You think it's silly that Braun sits more, I think it's silly to suggest a 25 year old that had an OPS+ of 126 last year isn't going to play. So yeah, on THIS TEAM I think Bruan is the fourth OF. I DO NOT think he is what would normally be considered a traditional 4th OF. He is obviously more talented than that. Maybe you’re not paying attention much but here is an updated statement: Also, you keep saying things aren’t going well at 1B because of some things said two weeks ago. Yet Braun continues to get a lot of time at 1B AND there are reports that they are looking at 50-60 games from him there.
  16. Maybe all the bending will do good for his back. Get his butt in some yoga classes and get him a bit more flexible. Standing stiff as a board out in LF sure hasn't done the trick.
  17. No one is saying he'll be a 4th outfielder and play once or twice a week. At worst, he'll be one of 4 outfielders and play 5 games a week minimum at some position. Eh, you may want to walk that first sentence back a bit. I think there are plenty here and in Brewers nation that are happily saying that. And I think so of it has nothing to do with his play. But that last piece is just my opinion.
  18. Because last year Franklin, Nieuwenhuis, Perez, Sogard, Thames, and Villar made 21% of the team's OF starts. Counsel will want to give Perez starts, and you can bet some of those will be in the OF. Right. But that’s before Cain and Yelich were added. Apples to oranges.
  19. Christian Yelich pending ... a healthy Ryan Braun is the best hitter in this lineup and it isn't really close. If he is healthy he is playing. Thames will be the odd man out if all 5 are available. That assumes Braun is going to see significant time at first. That doesn't seem likely at this point. According to the manager about 50 games. So depends what you mean by significant.
  20. I am really confused as to why, with a roster of Braun, Santana, Yelich, Cain that there would be any discussion about anyone, let alone Perez, getting any starts out there. Makes zero sense. You don't need a 5th outfielder when you have those four. That is part of the reason as to why the 4-man bench could actually work.
  21. -Why would CC give starts to Perez in the OF? If he does this over the four he has on our roster, he should be fired on the spot and I'm not kidding. He may end up playing out there based on in-game substitutions or seasons injuries but if there are no injuries out there, there is no reason for him to be out there. He is an emergency OF on this team. That's it. Period. -Braun, even if no DL, can sit out 1 every 4-5 games. It would help him in the long run of the season. -Are you expecting Villar to start all 162 games? Because I don't think anyone is. Villar (if playing well) will probably log about 130 games this season due to certain matchups as we have Perez and Sogard on this roster as well. Perez and Sogard will also help relieve Shaw and Arica, keeping those guys involved this season.
  22. 486 outfield games total (3 OF positions) 10 games DH total 162 games 1B total *Only includes starts. Plenty of pinch hitting for these guys too. **Used 4.5 PA’s as an average per game. Braun: 50-1B, 8-DH, 65-OF= 123 games (about 550 plate appearances) Thames: 112-1B, 2-DH= 114 games (about 510 plate appearances) Yelich: 150- OF (about 675 plate appearances) Cain: 140- OF (about 630 plate appearances) Santana: 130- OF (about 600 plate appearances) If they can squeeze out anymore games at 1B for Braun (due to him playing well there or Thames injury/sucking) then the numbers for Santana can go up. And these are only starts. Plenty of pinch opportunities for them all. Also, I used 50 games at 1B because that’s what Counsell mentioned they’d like to get out of him there. Obviously all this changes if/when injuries occur but I’d be all for this if it worked out this way.
  23. They must want someone really bad. But even so, you don’t know how the draft will turn out. Have you a lot for three spots.
  24. Getting incredibly frustrating knowing we will probably chance it on a few rookies to solve our defensive backfield.
