  1. .242/.326/.442/.768 is his second half numbers and they probably dip a little more if you just go by his last 50 games. What isn't mention is his kid almost dying, and a pretty good head injury to begin August (which is where the dip in his numbers really are). Some will say excuses, others will realize what this can do to your stat line.
  2. It's interesting that you mention depth at the pitching position on the top section to knock down fans who believe the Cubs are in a difficult position but all the players you list on the bottom are all position players you expect to take a jump. Maybe try showing the pitching depth that we are supposed to be scared of if you really want to try making a point.
  3. How do you not think Dubon is a true SS prospect? A little lost on that one. I can understand saying that he might not be ready this season but to just discard him, yeesh.
  4. The fact that we have a Dubon shows how nice of a job Stearns has done in the short time he's been here. Arica could be a great SS but having a Dubon provides an opportunity to move Arcia if the right deal were to come along.
  5. Rumor is that is a need for the Brewers. Nah, they're good It's like shooting fish in a barrel.
  6. I don't think anyone is even remotely implying that...not in the last handful of posts anyways. Yeah, this is a huge reach. Huge reach.
  7. ESPN: Hot dog! Falcons drop prices, make more money Concession Prices If you go to the link it has a picture of the prices of food. Here are some of them: -$2 coke with refills -$2 hotdog -$3 pizza slice -$3 nachos -$5 bud light beer -$5 burger -$6 chicken strips w/ fries Hopefully, more teams will see this report and figure out that if they put reasonable prices on things, they would sell, even more, making fans even happier. Johnsonville... do you see this? Charge $3 for a brat and you'll sell even more.
  8. I'm not sure how anyone can be upset at any of the guys that got in. They are all deserving. What I will say though is I wish they would just bite the bullet and put Bonds/Clemens in as well as Rose. It is so silly to have this HOF when three of the best players ever are not involved. The steroid era is as much on major league baseball as it is on those players. Enough is enough already.
  9. In a fantasy world: -Trade for Yelich, Realmuto, Barraclough Give up: Brinson, Ortiz, Pennington, Harrison, Pina -Trade for Abreu Give up: Ray, Peralta, Thames -Trade for Salazar, Kipnis Give up: Santana -Sign Cain, 3yr/$47M Lineup: 1. Yelich- RF (L) 2. Cain- CF 3. Braun- LF 4. Shaw- 3B (L) 5. Abreu- 1B 6. Kipnis- 2B (L) 7. Realmuto- C 8. Arcia- SS *This team would have a career average of .342 OBP and .808 OPS. Now that would put butts in the seats and W's in the standings. Bench: Sogard-IF (L), Perez-IN/OF, Phillips-OF (L), Vogt-C (L), Choi-1B/OF (L) Rotation: 1. Nelson (when/if healthy) 2. Anderson 3. Salazar 4. Davies 5. Chacin 6. Woodruff/Suter Pen: CL- Knebel SU- Barraclough SU- Hader MR- Barnes MR- Logan LR- Suter LR- Jeffress
  10. A guy like Dubon could probably see time at SS this season if Arcia wasn't in the mix.
  11. Since no one wanted to play and I am too impatient to wait... Player A is Hernan Perez and Player B is Yuni B.
  12. At some point you stop seeing what guys can do and you make an attempt to win with known quantities. It's the same thing with waiting an hoping for a guy like Villar to rebound. Cain's a proven outfield talent. Phillips and Brinson are not. CF was a black hole in 2017. The guy who saw the most action there hit .220 and fanned 175 times. Cain or Yelich would improve the current roster immediately, and not just for 2018. Cain would allow prospects to be used for pitching. We are not at that point if we have Brinson and Phillips on this roster. It would make no sense to not give two top prospects an opportunity. Zero. Zilch. At some point, you just have to find out what these guys can do. This year might be that if no other moves are made.
  13. Player A: Career Line .257/.283/.388/.671 Player B: Career Line .261/.285/.388/.673 Both players played all around the diamond throughout their careers.
  14. I don't see the trades happening that are being proposed with Milwaukee giving up 4-6 players. It just doesn't seem like a Stearns move. So far as GM he has never made any type of move like that.
  15. I know the trend in baseball is to youth, but my goodness the Brewers signed Aramis Ramirez to what turned out to be a 4 year $46 million deal when he was entering his age 34 season and he had a much less athletic body than does Cain. Granted wasn't as much money, but revenues in baseball are up considerably since 2012. Yeah the game has tilted toward youth, but 2012 is not that long ago. I would completely agree with you if we had the black hole like we did at third base. Until we move some of our outfielders, it just doesn't make sense to make a splash with a player like Cain when we could be seeing what Brinson/Phillips can do for us out there.
  16. I have always been in support of HH19. Just was saying he’s in a tough position with a lot of members. I think it’s great that he’s sharing, right or wrong. Said that a few days in a row now.
  17. No. Most know it’s an area we can improve upon. The pitchers we have right now are solid. We can win with what we have. But posting over and over what you do is maddening. We get it. Everyone does. We lack a TOR type pitcher since Nelson’s injury. I’m sure Stearns is on it. But he may not think a guy like Lynn is that type of pitcher. Maybe he’s okay with rolling with Woodruff and Suter instead. Or heck, maybe even Hader. 1. Anderson 2. Davies 3. Chacin 4. Woodruff 5. Suter, Guerra, Hader, Gallardo
  18. Oh I don’t know, I think they are pretty much set in the pitching department.
  19. Hopefully we jump in with a 5-year deal just to really get these boards on fire! Can’t imagine what the traffic has been over the past 48 hours.
  20. Tough place for HighHeat19 to be in if he’s actually being fed the information he’s sharing. If the moves actually play out he looks like a king on the forums. If they don’t, people will always question anything he posts. Tough spot. Hopefully he’s being truthful and eventually something rolls into what he’s been feeding us.
  21. Lee Harvey acted alone. The moon landing was faked. Aliens are at Area 51. Obama is from Kenya. I can do this too.
  22. Dude. Just make your signature something about how we need another starter and post something else, my god. Or change your handle to repeat.
  23. I’m not sure I’ll ever pay to see another game in the Greg Gard era. I’ve never seen such poor effort and talent on a basketball court. Just way disappointed in what I witnessed last night. Utter confusion and wrecklessness with a lack of discipline all over the place. Disgusting.
