  1. If Attanasio is waiting for the fan fest to do something or announce it, then he's a bigger knob than he looks like.
  2. Because Alcides is washed up. I'm not sure if you're joking here but homers just went from 20 year lows in 2013/2014 (basically 2010-2015 was a lull once steroids were curtailed) to the 4th (2016) and 1st (2017) highest HR/game averages in MLB history basically overnight. Washed up? Escobar had basically the same season he has always had throughout his entire career. He just is who he is. Meanwhile, I'm making a point to the 100 game loser that Escobar and Arcia don't really belong in the same sentence other than they at one time were both shortstops for the Milwaukee Brewers. Arcia's ceiling is so much higher and it showed last season. Onto the juiced ball theory, there is that but there's also been a big shift in the approach at the plate. Guys have trained to elevate the ball and swing out of their shoes. When you do that, more dingers will happen. It's not the entire reason, but it is a big reason for it.
  3. Chicks dig the long ball? If he's comparing him to Escobar, and the ball is juiced, why didn't Alcides have a jump in his homers and slugging as well? Oh, because it doesn't fit his agenda.
  4. Arcia OPS’s .731 last season at age 22. Escobar has never done that in his entire big league career of a decade. With a juiced ball. That .730 OPS screams cornerstone to me.
  5. Arcia OPS’s .731 last season at age 22. Escobar has never done that in his entire big league career of a decade.
  6. I think what is annoying about all this is there's a good chance we don't get anything accomplished BUT we also have a good chance at really never knowing who would've been in these deals. All speculation. All rumors. All-time annoying.
  7. You missed the point. It isn't who you would take. It is the value of those players under the current situation, ie contracts they have.
  8. We can trade Ortiz just for the fact that he's hanging around Garza. Half blue.
  9. In the days of basically instant communication, it's lame that it takes so long to create and finalize these deals.
  10. trwl7 you make way to many conclusions about this. If we were to trade for Archer and Yelich, they could be used to rebuild farm if we didn't do well. We are nowhere near in the same position we were in 2014. We have so much roster flexibility and a much deeper farm. Even trading for Archer and Yelich, it doesn't have to end there.
  11. Oh this should play well on the boards.
  12. I'm not sure if we've factored in that I like to think Wisconsin people have a pretty good brain and will realize that the NBA product sucks compared to the NHL. Before building that new Bucks arena, they should have shipped that team out and an NHL team in.
  13. I don't think Klement's owns the sausage racing names. They just slapped their name on them for a sponsor. Pretty sure the sausage race itself is something the Brewers own.
  14. What the Cubs don't have today, will be bought tomorrow. Stearns is just focused on creating the best Brewers team he possibly can and then you hope it works out. Worrying about the Cubs is the least of his worries.
  15. I can't see Braun making a move back over to RF. He didn't really want to do it in the first place and he wasn't very good at it. You would be better off going Braun - Yelich - Phillips or Braun - Phillips - Yelich.
  16. Good question. He's a 26 year old elite OFer with 5 years of control left. In no way is a Yelich acquisition abandoning the rebuild. What happens next is the question. Is this basically it? If we stand pat or do a smaller free agency move and lose the division by 7 games, where do we go after that? Yelich is still around for 4 years after the first season I just mentioned above but now you have to decide how much more of your chips to put on the table. Or do we empty out more of the farm system to try to win this year/next immediately? That's always the question.
  17. Yeah, you said that already and I'm sure you've read the counter arguments to that point. Yeah, I like Yelich but I sure wish Stearns would improve our rotation........
  18. We we had a rough week out of the break. From August 1 forward we went 31-24, that's without Nelson for a chunk of it. And we had a pretty tough schedule down the stretch. And not even looking at numbers, if you watched the team throughout the season it's abundantly clear that we were better in September than we were in April. It really shouldn't even be up for debate. Something that Stearns and Counsell are very aware of as well. Great post.
  19. They aren't trading for Yelich and then doing nothing else. They will get pitching. Not only that but just because you want/need in one area doesn’t mean you don’t make moves in another to better your team. We get it. The Brewers need pitching much like 25 other teams.
  20. Shooters, shoot. Eventually you gotta make some moves to win. All these prospects won’t pan out or have a spot on our team for them. Grabbing a OF like Yelich with five years of control is a great way to maximize some of these prospects.
  21. Seems really unrealistic that they would trade AND sign a pitcher. With Nelson on the way back and since we already signed Chacin, there’s only five spots to start.
  22. Are you copy/pasting your own posts and posting them again? Lol
  23. I think there’s needs to be some patience on this. No other teams are adding starting pitching either and we already signed one in Chacin. The market is just slow.
  24. How great is it that we could actually have a legitimate lead off hitter?!?
