  1. Yes, not to derail the MLB discussion but I do agree with you. The NFL is going to be very interesting to follow over the next decade or so. We already know the numbers of kids playing football is going down all across the country. We know the product they are pushing out is already in question. We know TV ratings are down. We know that there is great concern about the human brain and what it can take contact wise. It will all be interesting as to how that effects the NFL over the next 10-20 years. If I was an owner, I probably would be looking to do what you said above.
  2. So are you saying there is no risk? It's an automatic, guaranteed money maker? Then every time a sports team is up for sale, every billionaire in the world should be lined up to buy it. I think when the Brewers were up for sale there were 3 or maybe 4 interested buyers. That's puzzling if its supposedly a no-risk money maker. Only so many people have enough money to buy these franchises and they have to have an interest in them as well. I'd love to hear about one owner who actually lost money because I can't think of any in recent years.
  3. Uh...the owners own the company (team). They take the upfront risk in the hopes of achieving a return down the road. I wonder if you'd feel the same way if some day you owned a business and your employees/people from the outside looked at you and thought in such a shallow fashion. None of these owners are going to lose money. None of them. Even that scum bag Loria made more money than he will ever be able to spend in a life time so spare me your soapbox moment about shallowness. Owning a pro sports team is a honor and should come with some responsibility to the product that the league puts out to its fans that pay to make all these owners as rich as they are. The feel sorry for me statements from owners ends when you talk about risk yet it’s a built cash cow. Hell, they don’t even fund their own stadiums. Tax payers do.
  4. For me, it's not about them making tons of money. That's all great with me. But when it comes at the expense of the general public like it did in Miami, to me that is completely wrong. These owners are making more than enough money to do right by their players, their fans, and their communities. And if they are not, then the MLB should rid themselves of these jokers because it is no good for the game.
  5. This is such a tough one for me because I can understand why the owners don't want to pay some of these guys for their diminishing performances in their 30's but I also get sick and tired of the owners making money hand over fist. It is absolutely disgusting with the Jeff Loria situation in Miami.
  6. All I know is Ethan Happ doesn't deserve to play on this team. He deserves a hell of a lot better. Sad that he'll finish his career on such a stinker. And yes, I know they will be probably better next year but it won't be much better. The cupboard is bare.
  7. Feel bad for Pirates and Marlins fans. I'm sure the Brewers will someday be in this situation but it just stinks for these different franchises that they are basically farm systems for the larger markets. I love baseball and I love watching my Brewers but it does stink that they are at a disadvantage. To the above post, Yelich is probably stuck where he is. It should be a red flag to anyone that is a Marlin for signing any contract with them.
  8. Honestly, after looking deeper into Harrison's stat lines, for me, it is either adding Walker or we go with what we have. If you're not adding a top guy like Caesar Hernandez, then we might as well pick up a guy that doesn't cost us any prospects and who has honestly outplayed Harrison for basically the entire course of his career.
  9. I'm starting to wonder about Gard. It's easy to lay blame on the coach but this is downright awful. This isn't the Badgers basketball that we have been accustomed to.
  10. The more you dive into his stats, you really have to wonder where the value lies?
  11. No shocker here. Fangraphs continues to be the devil.
  12. I want to. We'll see if the wife wants to go with me.
  13. Why? They have 2 of the top 20 % 3pt shooters in the league but run ZERO offensive sets to get them open 3's. Their offensive sets are built on Mid 1990's staples when illegal defense was a thing. Oh. Well, fire Kidd then.
  14. Stop using Sogards hot streak of last year to put him in the same sentence with a guy like Harrison. Sogard is not good. I’ll give you Perez and his splits vs LHP but that’s about it for that guy too. If we go into the 2018 season banking on a Sogard/Perez soft platoon at 2B, we are going to be severely disappointed. Perez's biggest selling point is his versatility, and that would take it away. While Harrison isn't a world beater, he has the ability to be a top-of-the-lineup table setter. Walker would be an ideal #2 hitter. If the team doesn't end up with one of those guys, I think they roll with Villar and hope he recaptures his 2016 form. I don't get how people believe that Sogard can consistently provide what he did during his hot streak last year, while at the same time dismissing the idea that Villar can recapture his 2016 form. Well... I won't go there. But you are correct.

  16. Awesome news. Sooner he comes back the sooner we can make a thread in the proposals section to see what we can get for him!
  17. Should the Bucks target a player like Lauri Markkanen who can rain threes?
  18. Harrison is good. Harrison also doesn’t get on base enough. Career OBP of .321 leading off for us? No thanks.
  19. We should unload Broxton to them to get Will Smith back and a lower tier prospect and call it a day.
  20. No it's not. Unless they had bonuses tied to a Pro Bowl or All-whatever team appearance like a previous poster said, I doubt they pay any attention to it. Considering David Bakhtiari has had a few posts about it on Twitter, I beg to differ. They guys want to be recognized for their play. Being named to a pro bowl is just one of those ways they are recognized as being the best in their sport.
  21. I'm a little too young to know but were head coaches as bad at clock management 20 years ago?
  22. I keep hearing about how exciting these playoffs have been but to me it's been loaded with some pretty lousy football and some really bad coaching moments. Maybe I'm too wrapped up in watching Green Bay each year to notice but stepping back and not having a team in the race really has opened my eyes to the product of the NFL and it really isn't good. Loaded with refs deciding games, poor fundamental football, bad coaching decisions, and TV timeouts galore. It's just not a good product. Mark Cuban was right when he said fat pigs get slaughtered when referencing the NFL.
  23. Could also be an insurance plan if a team wants to include Thames in a deal.
  24. Bruce, Walker and Gonzo. Sounds like the Yankees strategy a few years back.
  25. Let’s go Jaguars and Saints today. I would like to see Philly vs. Jax just to have two different teams.
