  1. With the release of Taylor Jungmann today it begs the questions, was the 2011 draft the worst ever for the Brewers? -They selected 12th and 15th in that draft and both selections (Taylor Jungmann and Jed Bradley) have had zero impact at the Major League level. (Jungmann now in Japan and Bradley in the Baltimore) -Jacob Barnes might be the best of the bunch selected 431st in the Draft. -Jorge Lopez and Nick Ramirez might be the remaining bunch of talent that could get to the bigs and do something. -The rest of the list, unless I am missing someone, is just a group of names. Yikes, was that draft awful. You just have to do better than that with how big of a market we are in.
  2. Not too concerned about this. What a terrible draft that really was.
  3. Hardy's last four seasons (31-34): Average Games: 111 BA: .243 OBP: .282 SLG: .353 OPS: .635 OPS+: 73 Hardy just isn't good anymore.
  4. How would this be an upgrade?
  5. No thanks. I'd rather take my chances with Villar coming back to form.
  6. Report: Packers hire Frank Cignetti as quarterbacks coach Feels as though McCarthy is trying to get people he knows and trusts around him. Can't say much about the guy as I know just about nothing about him.
  7. Thanks, Lucroy...
  8. So happy to see this happen. I thought we were going to lose this guy. Hope he continues to show he's legit and adds even more versatility to our bullpen and bench.
  9. Well I didn’t get my Rex Ryan but the Packers added Mike Pettine as their defensive coordinator who was Rex’s coordinator during his Jets tenure. Looks like a good hire. Hope it’s a fit.
  10. Well he is interviewing in Cleveland today http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2018/01/browns_gm_john_dorsey_wants_to.html While it is true that he’s under contract, Gutekunst said he will not stop Wolf from seeking a job elsewhere.
  11. Agreed. I mean if this is what you can do, why not delay every signing to not mess with your 40 man until you want to.
  12. He would actually be the 6th catcher on the 40 (Pina, Vogt, Bandy, Susac, Nottingham). Even better!
  13. I never once stated that it was obvious that he was legit, just that he played quite well in that 0-8 start to his career that YOU pointed out. And there have been plenty of retread stories. Heck, McKown for the Jets this year is another one. You are putting way too much of this on the record of the team under these QB's. Wins are a team thing a lot more than they are a QB thing. Keenum has played well but it isn't like he's been amazing. He is playing about what you'd expect from him for the most part. I am a firm believer that there are plenty of guys in the league that if under the right system would be just fine.
  14. I was hoping they put him on as the 5th catcher on the 40-man just to have these boards blow up and get some real excitement around here.
  15. Brett Hundley dreams of having the career that Matt Moore or Case Keenum have had. Hundley will be lucky that he's in the NFL next season the way he played. But then as you check around and realize a bum like Joe Webb (maybe Hundley can return punts. He can't be any worse than Davis) is still in the league, Hundley can coast for about another decade of not being any good. Just hope the new brass makes the decision that it needs to be on someone else's roster. They had to play for the first time at some point too though, I think I just saw Keenum lost his first 8 games. Yea I agree, he proved this year he's not good enough to be trusted in this situation again. I didn't say that wasn't the case. My theory is that the staff believed they were sitting on a starting caliber player as their backup. They were clearly wrong. My guess is they thought he was legit good and would do well, then trade him for a 2nd rounder like the Pats did with Jimmy. Obviously they were wrong. And I'd say go back and look at how some of those backups experience have done when they played before, nothing to write home about by any means. Sure, better than what Hundley did but all those guys had proven they weren't good enough to be starters in this league. So I guess it's gambling a bit to go for higher upside like they thought they had in Hundley vs proven blahness. And if you would have told anyone before this season Keenum would do what he did you would have been called crazy, he's basically been made fun of for years whenever he's had to play. Good for him though, always thought he got too bad of a bad rap, hope he gets some money. Again, in a way I don't even know what we're arguing about, haha. I'm not saying Hundley was good. I guess I'm just saying I don't think it was out of cheapness or laziness that they ended up with him so not some kind of faulty logic or organization incompetence. It was just a bad player evaluation, which happens all over the league all the time. And these two (MM/TT) were right about an unknown QB evaluation a few years back where they put their careers on the line and I think they were right on that one. I hope they do something different this year though. Vikes have 3 QBs, so we'll see what happens there. IDK if Bradford would be a backup. I bet Bridgewater would. Or as a comp to these backups with experience. Take the couple guys for Denver who've gotten to play but haven't been able to hack it. Sure, I'd take them over Hundley now that we know what we have in Hundley. But let's say a team has a 3rd-5th round pick as their backup who's never gotten to play other than preseason who's done well in those games and you like what you see in practice from him (let's say Cardale Jones type, though I don't know how he's done in preseason). Would you rather roll the dice on that kid playing so at least there's a chance he's legit good (or at least better than guys who've failed a couple times already) at his rookie salary, or pay a few mil for proven blahness that you know you can't win with anyway. I don't think it's horrible logic to hope the unknown is better than a guy you know can't hack it and you can't win with. I believe your theory is right about them believing he's a starting quarterback in the waiting. But sorry, Case Keenum played quite well considering his team he was on, even being 0-8 in those starts. Case Keenum is a perfect example of a guy that has always needed to be in the right system and he probably has a full career of what he is doing this season. The arm talent was always there. Hundley? Not so much. He has always been what he is present day. Here is a bit from one NFL scouting report: I mean, did he nail it or what? This dude is three years in and really didn't show any sign of improvement in the passing game. I also want nothing to do with Bridgewater. He is another example of a guy that couldn't complete a pass passed ten yards. These guys rely too much on their legs to be consistent at anything in the NFL. Find a guy that can make the throws. Draft, draft, draft. Hopefully Gutekunst will learn from Wolf Sr. and draft the heck out of the QB position and find our next guy.

  17. I've heard it talked about before. Not often but it does get brought up. And Packer fans have the general ineptitude of the rest of the division to thank for a good chunk of their success. This year's Vikings team is the only one I can think of from the division from the past 10 years or so that is a legitimate contender. The Lions had a pretty good team a few years ago but for the most part a healthy Rodgers and Co could just roll through 3 average at best teams to win the division. Don't undervalue what the Vikings are as a franchise. They are about as good as they come. Yeah, sure, they miss out on the big wins but they win pretty much consistently all through their history. I would even wager that they have made the playoffs more times in the past ten years than the entire AFC East (minus NE obviously). I know they've also won the division a handful of times as well, something that no one in the AFC East, other than the Pats, even are in the running.
  18. There are only so many adjustments you can make as an offense. Hundley just was/is bad at throwing the football past 10 yards.
  19. Honestly, I think I'd rather see the Vikings get a SB than for Brady or Ben to get another. They are both great quarterbacks but I wouldn't take either over Rodgers. Super Bowl wins gets too much attention sometimes for quarterbacks. Like myself and others have stated, put GB in the AFC East over the last decade and I'll bet there are a few more SB appearances and maybe wins.
  20. The media will never bring it up because Brady is their media darling (and rightfully so) but he gets a pass basically every season due to his horrible division he wins just by showing up and then they earn a bye just about every year. The play some lousy AFC team to get to the conference finale just about every season. Bill and Tom have been fluffed by a horrible AFC pretty much for the past decade or so. Yeah, I know... there have been some outliers but for the most part, the AFC is trash.
  21. One of my gripes with Thompson as well. It often seemed that he was more interested in having trophies for "youngest team" or "most drafted players" than he was with actually putting together a winning roster. I know, academically, that this isn't true, but it sure came across that way at times, and I think that's why such a large part of the fan-base became so frustrated with him. To be honest, I’m not sure a part of that isn’t true. He was about one other SB win away from looking like a true NFL genius.
  22. But Fangio will be 60 come August. No way can he get the job done. Too old!!
  23. http://i.imgur.com/k5plvOS.gif Not really when you pair it up to all the "leaks" to the media over the last week.
