  1. Yes, this is very common in workplaces. I think it is very understandable that you would want your head coach and GM to be on the same page for the direction of the franchise. It usually doesn't work too well if they are not. Leading to a coach being fired and then the search for the right fit takes place once again and if we know anything from a lot of the other franchises, those searches can take a long, long time. To the post about his arrogance. We praise him when he is arrogant about the Packers and how this franchise should be viewed but we want to tear him down if he has the same arrogance about his coaching abilities. It doesn't make too much sense to me. You think Belichek isn't arrogant? How about any of the other great head coaches of our time? The same goes for just about any great player. Rodgers is as arrogant as they come. Favre, same. Brady... you bet. It's apart of the DNA that goes with the territory of these positions. Some of it is the reason these people have ever got to the positions they have and had success while doing it.
  2. Probably why there is no attention to the running game. Oh what a friend that could be.
  3. Trade for Yelich or Hernandez. Sign Cain. All three are good options at the leadoff.
  4. Why would Cain sign a two year deal when this is his first and only big contract? Why would a team give up worthwhile value when they had a chance to just beat the Brewers offer? I dunno. I love this response.
  5. Huh? You do know there is a lot more to this position than simply calling plays? I hope this was more out of frustration that MM would hold onto these duties than understanding all that goes into this role.
  6. Why hasn't a team like the Giants, who have been rumored to want OF help, not signed him? I mean, he's a pretty good player and could help out a team like that.
  7. It's after New Years...
  8. None of us really know, you're right there. It's all speculation. My guess is if there is interest there, it shows he really is serious about moving Santana and/or Broxton. Maybe this is another way to signal that to other teams. I don't know.
  9. I don't think success needs quotes. He had it. Won a Super Bowl with it. I don't know why you are arguing with me. We both watch enough games to see that the defense is stale and not operating the way it did (7) years ago. Matthews is old and useless and there is no Woodson or Collins. Blame Ted, blame Dom, stick up for one what does it matter? The bottom line is his teaching is not getting through to the players on the field. Hideous defense and guys like Haha missing tackle after tackle are his responsibility. That's the bottom line. Yep. We are in agreeance about needing change. Just wasn't sure why it was pointed out that he had success because had good players. That goes for every coach, everywhere.
  10. I don't think success needs quotes. He had it. Won a Super Bowl with it.
  11. What is he asking? It's hard to predict something will be a disaster when you don't know the details. Until otherwise reported I go off the assumption of what he is realistically expected to sign for and what similar players have gotten recently. So you are looking at 4/$70mil. Let's say we can get him at 3/$45... is that enough of a "discount" to take a shot at him if we are moving on from other OF's? That would have him under contract at 32, 33, 34.
  12. Because he had one of the best DB ever Charles Woodson, a hall of fame performing talent Clay Matthews, and a fantastic safety Nick Collins to bail him out. Especially when Collins quit that was a huge blow. Doesn't every good defensive coordinator have good players? I guess I don't understand your point? If anything your statement shows how poorly Ted has done with giving Capers the players he needs to get it right.
  13. I guess I'm a bit lost as to how Cain isn't a good player or that he wouldn't make a difference? Cain is basically Broxton but he gets on base (along with hitting dingers and swiping bases) and he actually does play good defense and doesn't just flash it once in a while. If he can be had at a reasonable amount, why not? Especially if we are considering trading away Santana-Brinson-Phillips-Broxton.
  14. I can’t believe he will be 32 this season. Where does time go?!? This would be a fine pickup if we moved other outfielders.
  15. Yep. The answer is staring at them but they won’t do a damn thing. This is exactly what should happen. The solution is simple. The problem is when do you schedule the first round? College BB can have a tourney because it isn't anywhere near finals. Not so much with football. This year it could have been Christmas weekend, New Years weekend, and the weekend coming up. 8-4-2.
  16. Me too.
  17. Though this is correct, the difference is that Fangio has had immense success at both San Fran and Chicago. Their defensive rankings improved SUBSTANTIALLY in both places his first year on the job. Didn’t Capers have some very good success early on in his first years on the job? I just think most of these guys are so interchangeable. Dom will probably go somewhere and have success again.
  18. Yep. The answer is staring at them but they won’t do a damn thing. This is exactly what should happen.
  19. Well, Marvin kept his job once again. Not sure exactly how, but good for him.
  20. TJ Edwards is coming back. That helps next years team a lot. Good news!
  21. Ethan Happ is just too much fun to watch. I agree it will be sad when he's not a Badger anymore.
  22. He did but so did OSU's D line. Hornibrook looked better against them than Darnold did. Yeah their dline played well but the momentum swing off his first interception was brutal. He wasn’t pressured. In fact he had no one around him even. He just made a Hornibrook throw that had no business being thrown. Going forward, we can’t have that guy. He had to be better.
  23. Honestly, if they kept him on as 'Director of College Scouting', that would probably play well to both his strengths and what appeared to actually be his passion in the GM position, and I'd be fine with that. I agree. Let him find those players out of no where. I hated Thompson for the Favre fiasco but I’ve grown to respect his talents. He should be honored among the greats for bringing us another Super Bowl trophy.
