  1. We can all have opinions on this. I’m just in the camp that Ted is more kiniving than a lot of people think. Ted still wants control but doesn’t want the full gig of dealing with the outside stresses. They put it out there to see how it would be welcomed that Ball, a Thompson crony, would take over. It didn’t take. McCarthy put out through sources that he’d look elsewhere . Rodgers put out that he didn’t like it. Then the fan base went a bit wild on social media. After all that, they check in on Schneider and when they saw Gutekunst slipping away they made the move to hire him.
  2. I'm sure this was joking... right? Especially after Silverstein debunked this rumor yesterday. Not a great weekend for Bob McGinn, really. Where there’s smoke... I believe McCarthy got his guy.
  3. Thank you McCarthy for stepping in and stopping Thompson from getting Ball.
  4. Just sad that there even needs to be a Rooney rule to begin with. Over the course of history there have been plenty of minorities that shoudve had jobs. Heck, the one black coach the Packers had they canned him after one 8-8 season.
  5. Titans - Pats next week sounds like a great way for the Pats to be in another AFC championship game.
  6. I love me some Andy Reid but boy, eventually you have to get the job done in the playoffs. What a disaster second half for KC.
  7. As they should. He would help their lineup and defense out a lot.
  8. Philbin officially back at OC. That could be good news. Things worked well while he was here.
  9. Maybe we are seeing the true Ted Thompson. The one that Favre despises and that led to that horrific organization breakup. Maybe Ted really is an devious jerk who is as selfish as can be? Maybe he sees this as his way to get what he wants. Still controlling the Packers but not having to ever be on TV or step in front of the media again. Something just does not smell right here at all. Not good. Not good.
  10. Shifting gears.... This is technically a Brewers related topic now, right? It's a promotion/theme night for cryin out loud. Shouldn't you be calling out the Brewers instead? If we fans ought to confine politics and "religion" into one forum thread on one little website because of misguided/unneeded conflict or because these issues are considered non-baseball topics, why give the Brewers a free pass to do the same in public to the masses? Otherwise, break out the pro-life night, the pro-Trump night, and traditional marriage night at Miller Park. Then the hypocrisy will really begin. No need to be an arse. He was simply trying to get people to move on so it didn’t blow up. This is always one of those touchy subjects that we here definitely won’t solve here on our forums so why create hostility with one another?
  11. Reports that MM will move on if he’s hired because he hasn’t seen eye to eye with him in years. Also a report that Rodgers does not like the move. Plus plenty of other reports that he’s never scouted and is a cap/financial guy.
  12. Another trade where we give up four pretty good prospects for one guy? And a player that’s not all that great? And for two years of control? Hard pass as Stearns would too.
  13. It’s weird that if this is true it’s not really being reported anywhere.
  14. Welp. That wasn’t good. Happ played a terrible game and they just didn’t shoot well enough to win. Needed this one. Oh and I can’t express enough about how much Pritzl annoys me. His buzzer beater tonight just made my skin crawl. When is this guy ever actually going to make an impact when it matters? Man I miss a guy like Showalter.
  15. I won’t blame Rodgers for leaving in two years if they continue to sit on the sidelines in retaining good players and free agency.
  16. Trade Brinson (or make him prove he can stay healthy in AAA) and Santana for as much pitching as you can acquire. Sign Cain to play CF and put the hose or an arm Phillips in right and see what happens. You have Perez and sign another OF to round out the OF.
  17. Let's make it 6 in a row tonight at Rutgers!
  18. Take this for what its worth but: REPORT: Aaron Rodgers Against Packers Promoting This Team Exec to GM I truly believe Rodgers will finish his career elsewhere.
  19. Isn't that to some degree how Sean Payton and Mike Tomlin have kept their jobs? Heck, their Super Bowl wins were longer ago than McCarthy's. To be fair, parts of their fanbases want those guys gone every year as well. Fans are just nuts. They don't realize how hard it is to win and a situation like the Pats have made that even harder for fans to understand because they have had so much success over a long period of time. McCarthy is a very good coach, yet you'll have some the stay a high school coach could win with Rodgers playing quarterback. Just hilarious.
  20. Isn't Bill the GM of the Pats right now? I'd say that's working out pretty well for them.
  21. It'd be a pretty rotten thing to do to McCarthy who won a Super Bowl for your franchise but I could see why it would be appealing. I don't understand the fascination with winning a SB many years ago. Does that give him a job for life? Not sure why it's rotten to fire MM and hire BB, it's a business. Just as MM can fire assistant coaches who won a SB, and TT fired players who won a SB. I never stated that he can never be fired. There is no fascination. Just a respectful thought about a guy that has accomplished a lot in Green Bay. Everyone gets that it is a business. You're definitely making this more than it was as a comment.
  22. Might as well fire Murphy and hand Belichek that job as well. Half kidding.
  23. I'm sorry Briggs, but that is just flat out nuts what you are giving up to get that return. Talk about hamstringing the future of the organization.
  24. [space][/space] I'm on the other end of it. The system is a flat out joke so they might as well do whatever the hell they want to. I wish more coaches, AD's, programs would begin to stick their middle fingers up at the NCAA and create some real change.
