In 2018, our most successful season, we had a bench of guys like Nate Orf, Brett Phillips, and (bad) Brad Miller taking at bats in late July. If Braun wants to come back in July, you let him comeback in July.
Hasn't the David Stearns playbook been good to you as a fan? I sure as heck know it has for me. He's taken resources and used them to provide some of the most thrilling baseball this franchise has seen. It doesn't have to be by the book, your book, my book, or the Cubs/Cardinals books. He finds value and puts rosters together that compete in the NL Central well and the more he does that, the better chances we have of running into one of those World Series many want to badly.
Maybe looking around the league, or heck even just Brewer's past rosters might change your mind about finding a better fit. Heck, we hit some guy in the cleanup spot in the playoffs last season that is probably out of baseball this season.
Based on the name? The man has been the most clutch Brewer in all their history and I'm sure he would be more than capable of providing quality at-bats as a 26th man / injury replacement down the stretch if we are in it. This isn't youth sports. I don't care about feelings. Put your best roster out there and win.
I think this is a very good comparison for right now. Pitching and defense will lead the way with this team and we hope that their offense is about on par with the rest of their careers. You get that and this is going to be a fun summer of baseball.
We have plenty of guys to play 3B. It just isn't who a lot of fans want. Arcia, Shaw, Robertson etc... will be there this season and I could see them out playing a lot of expectations. I also don't see it as a crowded outfield. I see it as stacking players to provide much needed depth out there. We added a left-handed bat that pairs well with either Garcia or Cain. Not only that but he's basically Cain-like defensively.
I shouldn't be surprised about the nonsense in this thread but I just can't figure out how this move would upset you or lead you to the path of being upset with how much the Brewers are spending. COVID hit and destroyed a lot of their income and yet, here we are, spending more money than a season a go. Not only that but they just got better. What else do you want? Seriously?...
There has been a mountain of evidence in regards to the Brewers being open to spending money but there is still the crowd that will try to be the loudest complaining that they don't. It's tiresome but it is what it is. Our defense is going to be awesome! The pitching staff has to be so damn excited.

It is just too bad that the timing wasn't right on this for GB. It just would have been too cool to see a Wisconsin star find his way to the Packers. After seeing the monetary commitment, I am glad we didn't go that route because we can probably have more impact with multiple players being signed for that.
I don't even try to guess on their draft choices anymore and I'm okay with that. Between barely watching college football anymore and the fact that the Packers just have a knack of nabbing players that many do not have on their boards.
