  1. I'm confused. What could the franchise have done for him in regards to a fan send off?
  2. Starter Burnes would’ve never happened with this thinking. Just sayin..
  3. Peralta and Lauer are not like Houser and Suter and shouldn’t be treated as such. I think most fans know that you use more than five guys in a rotation in a given year. But if all things stay the same and they’re all healthy, Peralta and Lauer should be given cracks at the rotation.
  4. I agree. This could the position fixed the easiest if he works there.
  5. I’d take every game at noon if I could. Hate late night ones.
  6. Weird that they would leave. It’s not like the Cardinals can’t compete next year.
  7. Time to change to 2021?!? We’re going to win it all next season!!
  8. Mertz time. Sad for Coan but at least we do have a good option.
  9. I think 1yr-$10M gets it done if theirs a DH. That’d be an extra $6M on top of what’s already owed with his contract. Heck, if he wants the extra $5M, put in escalators to get him there if he performs and plays a lot.
  10. Is there anything to back this up from quotes/reports, etc.? Or is this still just assumptions? I think it’s pretty easy to see that this is speculation. And while there hasn’t been the quotes you’re looking for to back it up, I’d say (again speculation) that it’s probably not too far off.
  11. That will not be exercised by The Brewers. If he comes back it will be at a significant salary reduction Depends. If DH in play and he actually wants to play, they might. They’re lacking quality batters. He’s still one that could be fine in DH role. Plus they’re on the hook for $4M no matter what and it’s a one year commitment which the Brewers like to do.
  12. Maybe Stearns should give him decent infielders, then Sogard wouldn’t be a good option to play. He gave him Gyorko and still played Sogard over him.
  13. Jake Lamb does make some sense. He’d be like a lot of players we tried this season though. Keep the expectation low.
  14. If he would come back for let’s say, $2M, fine. The problem is our manager will play him everyday whether he’s good or bad so he’s gotta go.
  15. Putting the ball in play is more about buying into the philosophy that not every swing needs to be out of your shoes. You’re not always trying to drive it to Lake Michigan. Unfortunately, that’s where we are at. Hell, I see some high school coaches preaching this and it is downright stupidity at its finest. You got a kid that’s 150lbs ringing wet trying to drive it 500ft in the air. Problem is, that kid on his best day can hit it 250ft with a stiff wind behind him. Okay, rant over.
  16. You are probably on to something. Houser looked good in relief against the Dodgers on Thursday. Unfortunately Peralta has typically looked much better in relief than starting too. I still love Houser, but I think I was wrong on his potential as a starter. Unless he develops a pitch in the offseason that will allow him not to get clobbered by left-handed bats, I think his days as a starter with the Brewers are done. I couldn’t shout it from the mountain tops louder than I did with Houser. I just hope they learn and use him in the capacity in which he can be an absolute beast. I don’t know if Freddy has the ability to pitch length in games either but I would be willing to see it have an attempt. Freddy has been better in relief as pro player of course but he did have a solid track record as a starter in the minors. Something that Houser has never really had.
  17. He better be in line for a rotation spot over Houser. If he’s not, we’re doing something wrong.
  18. Agreed, I see a lot of guys similiar to the crap we brought in this last off season. Makes me think we will see a similar roster to the one we ended with.
  19. This years free agency class is rather stinky.
  20. Yes, I do believe that bunting against a shift has some merit to it but the moving of runners just doesn't add up. The statistics do not back it up to warrant it. As for more balls in play, I don't a bunt is exciting at all. More balls in play would be great and maybe backing up the mound a tad would allow more balls to get put into play.
  21. Plenty of optimism. They had the worst roster I can think of in recent years and they made the playoffs. Good stuff!
  22. No matter what data can be shoved out showing that bunting is a poor strategy, the older generation will always feel that they would've won more games or scored more runs if they bunted more.
  23. Considering that Gavin Lux has a hard time cracking the Dodgers lineup (or 28-man roster) and he had an awful Covid season, maybe he would be a piece they would move?
  24. Dude... I'm assuming that is referring to the cumulative effect of missing a lot more games, perhaps the rest of the season, whereas Adams will certainly be back after the bye. No, I’m referring to his overall game. He gets in the muck and makes some big time blocking plays that go unnoticed a lot of the time. It’s a huge piece to this new offensive scheme. In no way am I saying he’s a better pass catcher than Adams but I really think this offense will miss what Lazard does on Sunday’s and will have to adjust quite a bit moving forward.
  25. No Kumerow. My god fans, move on. Lazard will be a bigger loss than Adams. Guy does it all for the offense.
