  1. I'm there 'til the end. I already feel like I'm part of the team, and I hate quitters so I'm sticking with it. Come on, my favorite sport, baseball, will only be around for about 6 weeks total anyways. I hate winter just because of the lack of baseball. Add the fact that I will only be able to see the Brewers play 9 more times and I'm going to enjoy it as much as possible. It's almost like my best friends and I have been hanging out for the past 6 months but are about to leave for the next six and I won't even be able to see them or speak with them. So I have to get the most out of my remaining 9 days. Call me an optimist, but I just love baseball and the Brewers.
  2. I will be completely honest here: I did not know about this when I finally watched Citizen Kane last summer. Totally made the movie much better having not known about it. When the movie was over, I said to my wife (something along the lines of), "oh, that was an interesting twist. Very good idea by the writers. I never saw that coming." She replied to me, "You've got to be kidding." I never knew about it. As for the pilot of "Fringe," I finally watched it this afternoon. It was good. It felt like I was watching a suspense movie (since it was 90 minutes long). I'll probably check out the other episodes. Oh, and for the record, I didn't read anything else in this thread until right now. So, I did do the "rules" of a thread about a tv show/movie (i.e. don't click on it). Heck, when a show's episode ends and they do "next week on (name of show), I usually plug my ears, close my eyes and start singing nonsense-word songs. Sometimes, I'll put my head under a blanket. I, personally, do not want to know what happens next--even if said preview doesn't really give much away. If that makes me weird, so be it. It's what make me "me." Funny thing, movie trailers don't bother me. But that's pretty much because I hardly see movies in a theater, and by the time I actually see the movies that I see on trailers, it has been a lonnnnnnnng time since I saw the trailer and I've forgotten it by then. Except for the fact that I knew that I had wanted to see it. I just hate spoilers. EDIT: I just finished episode two, and I'll agree that there are holes in the story and the science. But, then again, I remind myself that it's a TV show that fantasy-based on "Fringe" science, which may or may not exist in the real world. Don't know if the show will last or not but I'll keep watching. And, yes, I, too, am enjoying Dr. Bishop--great character! All the good shows end up canceled anyway (canceling "Journeyman" from last year still ticks me off!) so I am always very leery of watching a show from the beginning and end up wasting my time when it gets canceled.
  3. not thrilled that the Brewers don't make it down to Arizona until September. At least it's a weekend, so I can get to the games. But, jeez, a span of March 'til September is a long stretch in between in-person views of the Crew.
  4. I'm in no position to read the entire thread this morning, but did any see Marmol's reaction to the strikeout to end the inning against Counsell (7th or 8th inning? I don't remember which.) Counsell wasn't watching nor the ump who made the exaggerated strike three call, but Marmol pumped both fists into his hips and thrust his pelvis a bit. Wow. What a jerk. I don't mind a pump fist while you walk off the mound but totally and completely showing up an opponent like he did was uncalled for. Good thing the guy never has to hit because he'd definitely be getting one in the ear hole.
  5. This is not a true statement. I'll bet you anything that that coffee pot is still at least half full. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. my silver lining is that Mike Cameron has been EXACTLY as advertised when we signed him: .250-ish average, 20-ish homers, 100-ish strikeouts, decent 10-ish SB-type speed, pretty darn good defense in centerfield. unfortunately, I could probably post these same numbers on the vent thread. I haven't been happy with him nor have I been disappointed. He's pretty much the epitome of "as advertised."
  7. I can not and will not accept the 1994 Expos as winning any division title. No one did. It did not happen. They did not play in any post-season. No one did. That franchise (Expos/Nationals) have not appeared in a post-season game since 1981. Therefore, they have the longest streak in MLB. However, again, I am sure FOX and many others in posts above, are basically calling it a different franchise once they moved to Washington. This is untrue. But that is how many are interpreting it. The networks are probably interpreting that to (a) appease MLB who probably wants everyone to forget about the Expos and the move; and (b) to help out new and casual fans who didn't even know there ever was a team in Montreal. Semantics, sure, but the Expos/Nationals franchise has the longest drought in MLB.
  8. check out MVPmods.com and you'll see why it's reached cult status (hint: since it's the last PC baseball game, the modders on the site have made it better than it originally was.)
  9. no kidding. I am very worried about my retirement portfolio right now--and it's really only in it's infancy right now.
  10. The only thing is that graphic was technically incorrect. The Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals "franchise" hasn't been to the post-season since 1981, which is 27 years. I'm sure FOX didn't count them, though, since they moved to a different city.
  11. I finally figured out the losing this month . . . . . The Brewers are tanking some games on purpose because they needed a new challenge: 1) Last place in May and fight back to wild card lead? CHECK! 2) 20-7 month of August? CHECK! 3) 4 game wild card lead equals little excitement during the final month? CHECK! Yeah . . . That's the ticket! http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n116/pitchleague/lovitz.jpg
  12. and. . . . . Directv just blacked out 669. Nice. Bob and Jim . . . here I come!
  13. funny thing is, this "new" Yost thread may end up longer than the old thread--and in only 2 weeks time!
  14. I found it quite interesting as I flipped back in forth that the exact same instant that Victorino hit the homer, the Lions got a gift TD to take the lead on the Packers. And I mean quite literally at the exact same instant. Then, just as Cameron strikes out to end the game, the Packers get an INT TD from Woodson--again, literally, at the exact same time. Yeah, I'm not sure why Shouse was left in there to face the right-handers. I guess it'll all be over in about 7 hours . . . . .
  15. hopefully this will be a fun thread to come back to tonight and read/watch the videos. Packer game and Brewer game--not much better than that. A lot of flipping back and forth. Oh, and Matt V. doing the Packer game--BONUS!
  16. my wife and I have been watching seasons 1-2 of The Office and season 1 of Heroes. For me, it was review, but for my wife, she was introduced to the glory of those two shows. Trying to get her caught up (as close as we can) before the new ones start. I'll be recording them on the tivo and they'll sit there until she is caught up completely. I figure there will be a seperate fall TV lineup thread so I'll post my other shows when we get that thread up and running.
  17. and the inning finally comes to an end. I can't watch but Manny sure sounds like he has a tired arm/no confidence/poor attitude/all of the above today.
  18. if they do use Miller Park, there's a part of me that says don't let either team use the home team clubhouse, although it'd be impossible. Don't really need the Astros players milling around in areas that are meant for Brewers personnel. Not to mention that if they lose bad or something, tempers could flare up and they may be breaking/destroying Brewers' property. I can see it now, the Brewers get home and their clubhouse is in total shambles like after the Alpha Betas destroyed the Tri-Lams' house in "Revenge of the Nerds."
  19. I'll second (or third or whatever number we're up to) the AVG program. Doesn't hog resources on your computer, is updated daily (automatically, no less), and works flawlessly. I am currently using zonealarm for my firewall. It also seems to do it's job very well.
  20. Did I mis-read this whole thread or somewhere on the internet? I thought Owings was sent a few weeks ago. Or was that just speculation? I saw this on ESPN and was saying, "What? That trade was finalized a few weeks back, I thought."
  21. The real question that I have is: since when did Miller Park turn into the Major League Baseball Civic Auditorium and Convention Center that is the open-arms ambassador for baseball's good will whenever teams need a stadium on short notice? By the way, next season can we change one of our summer series against, oh, I don't know, the Marlins or somebody, to Wrigley Field? I'd love to see our fans able to invade a division rival's ballpark for a series.
  22. all is not lost . . . THE CUBS JUST LOST TO THE MARLINS!!!!! Oh, wait, it's a Brewer's classic episode. BILL HALL JUST HOMERED!!!!!! Oh, wait, it's a Brewer's classic episode. I guess that I can handle being 3 games up in the wild card for one more day.
  23. wow, if this is true and ticket prices are "dirt cheap" like the Angels-Indians games, it's going to be 95% Cubs fans, 4.5% Brewers fans booing, and 0.5% Astros fans. Ridiculous.
  24. man, we are just brutally bad right now. I'd like to say, "it's just one game," but that's also what I was told ad nauseum at the following game one of the "HUGE" series at the end of July.
  25. but BP only has us at 30% odds of winning the flip.
