  1. at least we reduced our number of meaningless games this year by about 1500% (okay, that's just a guess, but it's gotta be something like 30 meaningless last year down to only 2 this year)
  2. this is try #3 for win #82. Unbelievable that we have 250% more opportunities to get #82 than we did in 2005 (2 tries in '05 vs 5 tries this time around) and we still may not get it, the way we looked last night. COME ON BREWERS! GET THE FIRST ONE OUT OF THE WAY!
  3. anybody that doesn't enjoy a pennant race for your team, no matter how gut-wrenching it is, . . . . . . . .
  4. so the last time we were in the pennant race, you could only read the newspaper, watch TV, and talk around the watercooler (or watering hole) about the Brewers. There was no internet. Now, we have brewerfan.net to do all our Brewer talking, along with the aforementioned things. The internet has totally changed how one follows and talks about sports. What will it be like in another 15 years? What kind of cool unimagined (until now) technological thingys will there be to talk Brewer? I'm going to guess by then every household has holographic telephones and or virtual chatroom kinds of things, similar to the Jedi Council had in the newer SW movies. Maybe telepathic IMs. Or at least voice activated IM's or just completely free voice chat services. What other kinds of ideas are out there?
  5. I asked this question in the chat room and got no response. I had wondered the same thing: if teams are warned, a HBP automatically equals ejection, regardless of intention. I've scoured my rulebook a bit and haven't really found anything on this. Rule 8.02 goes into detail about rules for pitchers throwing at a batter, but it doesn't go into detail about what an umpire can do, short of ejecting and warning pitchers and managers. It doesn't say anything about automatic ejections after a warning or anything.
  6. oh, great. Brady Clark in the lineup. So, he's due for, what 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and a homer tonight? Gosh, I hope not. Listened to Cubs loss in the car on the way home and clapping and screaming out the window with every out in the top of the ninth. NICE way to start the evening. Hope it continues.
  7. does anybody really think Ned was NOT in the tunnel barking directions to Maddux and Sveum? Every manager does it when they've been tossed.
  8. that is spectacular news
  9. yeah, I know its a bit of a stretch for this thread but it'll always be Bank One to me http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/laugh.gif yep, me too. Name changes on ballparks are stupid anyways.
  10. sadly, one more win and this thread will die. . . . . or will it?
  11. I can't believe it, but I got my tickets here in Arizona when I got home from work today!!!! Unbelievable!
  12. Looper pitched pretty well against us last time, too, if I remember right. Maybe we can hit him hard just like Wainright.
  13. interesting. Thanks hawing. I wonder what the "exclusive" gift would be? Unopened package of playoff bunting (the red-white-and blue stuff, for those that are thinking of Hardy, Hall, and others from this weekend)? Playoff pennants and press pins? unclaimed bobbles? Alfonso Soriano dartboard?
  14. thats just stupid. He made the tag on the shouler, and even so, an ump calls the runner out 99-100 times there. yep, but this just happened to be that 1 time. I can see why he called him safe, though. If Rickie got him, he barely brushed him. I'll give credit to the runner for doing his best to avoid the tag, acting or not, out or safe. Still sucks, though.
  15. thanks for the input. I have heard of other clubs that demanded them returned if you wanted your money back, so I wasn't sure.
  16. I'm assuming they will still mail out the tickets tomorrow, even though we're pretty much only mathematically alive now. Do we have to send the entire package back to the Brewers if they don't make it?
  17. Besdies that, you know what else killed me today: seeing the Cubs laughing when the scoreboard showed the Brewers losing. You stay classy Chicago. were they really laughing at the Brewers or did you see something out of context? just wondering as I was not watching the Cubs' game.
  18. for five bucks, why bother. c'mon, make things interesting! I'll be in for $50
  19. some old guy who looks remarkably similar to my Uncle Chuck
  20. whoa, bobskube. Thanks for jumping down my throat. Just having a little fun with a big win and there not being any vents made during the game.
  21. ah, you know, I'm mixing my day's up. I was thinking that tomorrow was Sunday already. My bad!
  22. what, no vents? Does that mean Ned pushed all the right buttons tonight (minus the starting lineup decisions, which, by the way, all worked out fine in the end)? Is the world coming to an end????
  23. that's amazing that he is doing that in his first year as an announcer. The big wigs at FOX are either very impressed with him or many others said "no" or they're very desperate. Does that mean we get Gord Ash in the booth?
  24. I thought Hardy had a toe injury. Maybe it's both? He sure runs with a strange gait on doubles. Almost hobbling.
  25. yeah, hawing, it does seem that the team steps it up a bit against better pitching. I think 2005 is correct. The Brewers kind of like a football team, in a way. They play down to their competition at times (J. Bennett) like football teams do when they don't take an opponent very seriously (UW vs UNLV), but step it up when they face good pitchers (R. Oswalt) like football teams step up sometimes against good competitition (UW vs Ohio St.).
