our money will help fund my annual field trip to Phoenix for a Diamondback game with 150 students and their low-income families. I usually do this on my bank account; this year I can do it on Uncle Sam's.
a 2 pitch strikeout could, theoretically from the rule book, be when Cameron pinch-hit in the middle of an at-bat and inherited a 1-strike count (it does happen).
Waitress: Spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, baked beans, and spam Husband: Can I have that without the baked beans? Waitress: You mean spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, and spam?!?! This thread could go on for weeks . . . .
Python rules! I just wish the wife would catch on to their awesome splendor (although, she did giggle several times when she agreed to watch Holy Grail with me). I still remember in HS we had a madrigal dinner and we pretty much did the entire "witch test" sketch from Holy Grail with a member of the dinner audience. It was great!
I already play in a Diamond Mind league (30 teams so teams have to scrap for players sometimes) that we've done for, jeez, this will be our 19th season! Your situation sounds like ours (minus the 2 starters at each position--we got rid of that 2 years into the league as it wasn't realistic) so I'd be interested in checking it out. Do you have a league constitution, rules, etc.? Sounds interesting but maybe I don't need to join another league. If you got anything, PM me and I'll take a look at least.
I wonder if this will be an episode of CSI:NY next season. Speaking of which, if toxicology reports in the real world take 7-10 days, how come those shows can get them in a matter of hours? Yeah, yeah, I know. It's TV.
3000 should be a key "milestone" since baseball counts 3000 as a "magic number". Is it internet forum hall-of-fame worthiness, though? I don't think so. Dork-of-fame, maybe. I'm just glad I'm able to talk Brewers (and other off-topic stuff) here and it's always a pleasant experience). I have no idea what my post count is right now (I'll look after I hit the button).
for comedy effect, whenever I think of accidental overdose, I think of somebody taking some pills out of a bottle but as they do they slip on the floor and fall. Meanwhile, the bottle goes flying into the air and all the pills spill out and land right in the person's mouth and go right down their throat clean as a whistle. Therefore, they accidentally overdosed on the pills. But then again, that's how my brain works sometimes.
man, I've got 20-20 in one eye but 20-alot in the other and I played baseball. I didn't feel blind at all. I wasn't very good at the plate either. Guess this explains a bit though. It wasn't talent. It was eyesight. Who can I sue so I can get listed in SI's Sign of the Apocolypse?
oops, totally forgot to post my answer to the initial poster's question. I play my Diamond Mind Baseball season and I do a daily countdown on my whiteboard in my classroom for days 'til Spring Training and Opening Day.
yes, b19! I, too, did the same thing yesterday looking for Talkin' Brewers info and this "sports bubbler" thing popped up instead. Lot's of brewer info. NONE about radio stuff. I do seem to remember they began either last week of January or first week of February on Saturday afternoons in the past, but I could be wrong.
oh, yeah. This entire thread is reason enough to stay in Arizona for another 10 years. Of course, ironically, I kind of miss snow and other stuff. but not that much.
call me ignorant but how do you "accidentally" overdose on something? He/she knows they are taking the pills so . . . . or is it more along the lines of taking something (aspirin, for example) for a headache and taking some more within the prescribed time because the first dose doesn't work fast enough for you? and then it keeps spiraling because you take more due to lack of patience? this is an honest post, by the way. I don't know how it works. This is my assumption.
the fact that I slept about 10 hours last night--with little trouble getting to sleep, by the way--despite all the passion and drama in our household earlier that evening is not bugging me. Seriously, if you would have told me yesterday afternoon that I'd be in bed shortly after 11pm and asleep by 11:30pm, I'd have said you were crazy.
I used the bathroom earlier this evening and "forced the issue" perhaps a bit much. Now I have that "feeling" of having to "go" and it's keeping me from sleeping. Argh!
the wife and I had only a half day with students today, so we scheduled dentist appointments for 2:00 this afternoon. Now, it's 3:00 and it feels weird being home so early. Oh, yeah, we were supposed to go back to school. Not happening.
jason, maybe you can explain this one for me . . . why do some people need to have several of the same item autographed? if they are not planning on selling them, why do they need 13 autographed Bill Hall Toiletseat covers? 7 Sheets and Capuano autographed salt shakers? 17 autographed imitation replica leather faux-fur jersey-swatched painter's caps all signed by Donny Neverbegood? I can understand the several DIFFERENT items (to a point; I certainly would have no need to bathe my room in any one player's memorabilia. I would feel like a stalker. But that's me. If you enjoy it, good for you and I'm happy for you.) but why do they so many of the SAME DARN ITEM and they MUST all be autographed?
I asked that once upon a time here (only my question was "why do you need MULTIPLE items by the same guy?") and, if I remember right, the answers I got were along the lines of "wanting to collect things the same way someone collects stamps or collector spoons." Not many people said anything about selling them for profit, although a few did. I do believe I got one snide answer back (don't remember, or care, from whom). The answer that person gave was, "because I can. Now drop it." I shrugged it off and "dropped it." I'll take autographed items but I won't go out of my way to do it. If my kid someday wants to try to get autographs, I'll help him/her get autographs but otherwise, I'd rather just shake the athletes hand and thank him personally for all the good memories he is giving me and my child.
yep, I did get to watch it. I swear I didn't see anything about it being streamed when I looked the other day, but it was there tonight. Yay, I got to watch it! edit: not that it's riveting television, but still . . . .
yeah, but I didn't see anything about it being streamed on the site like it was last year. So I wanted to know if anybody in Wisconsin (you know, you guys that actually live there?) had heard/read/seen something along that vein.
so I drink beer all night and have a good drunken buzz going all night. Then I sit down to watch a movie that's been on my tivo for 2 months plus. "Easy Rider". I'm thinking, "wow, great American classic film; something I NEED to watch to say I've seen it." What a downer. A bummer. A TERRIBLE movie. Maybe it is better unedited (it was recorded on AMC, after all) but this movie bit it big time. A total waste of 2 hours of my time. Teen Wolf is a better movie than this was! Hence, my drunkenness has pretty much worn off.
