  2. Hey, directv changed their mind! It’s on! Hooray!
  3. Ugh. Just got blacked out on directv here in Arizona. Supposed to be on mlb network but the game on right now is only in the 6th inning. So much for watching.
  4. Good gravy, does this mean the Brewers will retire #51? I hope not. Two years with the club at the tail end of his career does not, in my mind, mean that we should retire it. Congrats to all 4 guys (plus Morris and Trammell and Costas) but I thought Edgar Martinez was going to get in, too.
  5. WHAT?!?!? This is preposterous and quite sad. I mean, are the sausages still going to "race to taste" or not? I still think it'd be hilarious to have the finish line of the race be a big aluminum foil shaped beer-bath and the first sausage to jump in wins! I guess the laundry bill for cleaning the costumes every time would be humongous, but I'd laugh. At least the sausages are staying, but will just have a new logo on their sleeves. No big deal, to me, at least.
  6. I was kind of ticked that the Packers had 2 timeouts before halftime and got the ball and decided, "eh, we're tied. That's good enough." WHY wouldn't you at least TRY to move the ball and score???? Are they really that scared????? And, yes, that FG attempt was ludicrous.
  7. I’ve seen this for about a month or two in print ads and was wondering how long it would be until there was a thread about it! Ha!
  8. I gotta imagine that if something like this were to take place, those players who entered the field of play would be automatically ejected and/or suspended and/or fined after the game. I'm sure that the players are aware of this and that is why it has not happened yet. I recall on one of those old "Not So Great Moments In Sports" episodes on HBO back in the day that there was a story from a college game in the 40s or 50 that had a player on the sideline flat-out tackle a guy that was running down said sideline for a sure touchdown.
  9. And, thus, another baseball season comes to a close (wipes small tear out of left eye . . . )
  10. Sigh, now I will be even more depressed today.
  11. For months, I planned on visiting a friend and her family over some of my fall break. We had mutually agreed that it would be great to see each other and catch up. Two weeks ago, though, she hemmed and hawed about the trip, but we mutually decided on specific dates and I booked the flight. Yesterday, she got upset about the news and some other stuff and changed her mind. We talked and talked about it today, and she went back and forth about me coming up or not coming up. By Monday Night Football time (when I had to leave for a previous engagement) we had decided that I would cancel. By the time I got home, it was back on. And it went back-and-forth for another hour. FINALLY, she decided it just wasn't going to work out at this time. So I cancelled the flight (which leaves in the morning.) The instant I did, I got a guilt trip thrown at me. I just don't understand.
  12. Kind of disheartening to see the passing game go buh-bye for the most part tonight. I thought Hornibrook had maybe turned the corner but it's fairly obvious (to me, at least) that he's not quite there yet. He's only a sophomore, though, I need to keep reminding myself. Still, they got the win. Wasn't pretty by any means, no matter what the scoreboard said at the end.
  13. yup, another night and it's the same ol' thing. Hope we perk up in the second half a bit more. (Doesn't help to have Daniels and Jordy out of the game, either.)
  14. They did at Turner Field, I know that. But I don't know about the new place. Haven't seen a good enough picture to check.
  15. I'll go with Anderson (tongue firmly in cheek)
  16. 3 Wash (1-2) 3 @ Cinci (2-1) 3 @ Chubs (2-1) 3 Pitt (3-0) 3 @ Miami (2-1) 3 @Pitt (1-2) 4 Chubs (2-2) 3 Cinci (2-1) 3 @ StL (1-2) what's that give me? 16-12 I'd take that
  17. about time, I guess. Still, it's disappointing that Wily just couldn't get over that hump. I gotta think someone will claim him, right?
  18. I didn't read the thread but did it appear to anyone else that Nelson got squeezed a bit on a couple of those pitches from the 4-pitch walk in the 8th? I thought so, but I was watching the game while doing school work and I didn't have my glasses on, so the television was slightly blurry.
  19. Kind of reminds me of when we traded for Scott Linebrink back in the day. Hope the results are a bit better.
  20. This guy soooooo needs to have a "nanananananana" audio clip played everytime he strikes somebody out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFPjQhl1eYE
  21. I haven't seen it anywhere so I need to ask. What is the story/reasoning behind the dugout and bullpen doing the over the head clapping after home runs? They've been doing it for a while but I never heard any reason.
  22. For the last couple of days I've been racking my brain over the name of a video game that I played not too long ago (maybe 3-5 years ago?) but I can't place it. The only things that I remember was a level in which you play a child that is sneaking out of his (circa 1950s) army barracks at night and has to avoid guards and spot lights to get to the other side of the base. It included hiding in bushes, using distractions, and even climbing onto the roofs of the barracks. You had some NPCs that could go along with you, too. Then, another level I remember is the same character trying to sneak across an army base during the day time, once again avoiding guards. You had to sneak behind some moving trucks to stay out of the guards vision cones (signified on a mini-map). I think the prime goal was to steal a truck parked in the motorpool area but you also end up going into some secret laboratory with your friends and one of them gets killed. Later on in the game, you play this same motorpool level again but you do steal the truck. All these things I described are played as "flashbacks" in the game, with the child reminiscing about how his father worked in the army secret laboratory, or something like that. I'd appreciate any help anybody can give me. Google searches for these things I do remember came up as blanks (mostly GTA V results.) So hopefully this will jog someone else's memory. I know the game was played in 3rd person and it was pretty fun, but darned it all if I can't remember anything else (especially the title!) I "think" that the rest of the game happens in the present.
  23. So much for the "Davies has yet to give up a run in the 4th this year" as someone said.
