  1. Our relievers to have an incredible hot stretch.
  2. Yoho’s numbers are absurd. They are video game esque. Logan Henderson’s fastball might need a reevaluation from the prospect sites. The amount of swing and miss he is generating on that pitch right now shows that it is much better than a grade 50 fastball. If that fastball keeps playing the way it is I don’t see how he isn’t our best starting pitching prospect in the system by year end.
  3. I love watching MeGill pitch. Reminds me of that run Corey Knebel was on in late 2018 where he was untouchable with the fastball knuckle curve combo
  4. Biggest difference besides the obvious command issues is that he doesn't have the breaking ball that he had pre-surgery. His breaking ball was easily his best pitch. Now he has throttled down the usage considerably post surgery. I don't whether that is a command issue or a stuff issue or both. But even if his command gets better he will struggle without that pitch being what it was pre surgery.
  5. The Reds bullpen has been a disaster for years now. At least it feels that way as a fan of another team in the division.
  6. I think it is a combination of max effort pitch to pitch, combined with having to grip the ball without foreign substances, and the pitch clock.
  7. Ya it is all soft contact but DL Hall does not produce many swing and misses.
  8. It should be a really fun division, especially if the Cubs sign Bellinger. One thing I noticed is there was a lot of prospects in the top 100 on MLB pipeline from the NL Central. Sure enough there were 25 from the NL Central. Well above the baseline average of 17. I really think the Cardinals offense could swing the whole division in their favor. Looking at the pitching staffs they all feel equal to me on paper. So let the baseball gods decide who will be the luckiest and unluckiest when it comes to injuries to pitchers. The Reds position player depth is really good. Can't help but look at guys like Elly De La Cruz and Jackson Chourio and think if they become superstars then the whole calculus of the division changes. I am not putting that expectation on them but there is a world where It does happen for one or both of them.

  10. So he's basically 2018 Jhouyls Chacin.
  11. If DL Hall really does hits his steamer projections of 123 innings a 3.84 fip and 2.3 war in year one then I think this trade will be a lot easier to handle for myself. That means he is well on his way to being a starter in this league with #2 upside. That is close to matching Burnes FIP from last year with 70 less innings of course. Which obviously hurts the 2024 team but in theory really helps every team after that.
  12. With the draft lottery in full effect that strategy is severely hampered. Don't get me wrong the Orioles have done a great job outside of drafting Adley Rutschmann and Jackson Holliday. In fact if the new rules were in effect they would have been kicked out of the lottery the year they selected Holliday. The days of the Cubs, Astros, and Orioles tanking for an extended period of time will be hard to pull off going forward.
  13. I think this trade impacts Turang just as much as Black if not more.
  14. I would be more bullish on Ashby if he wasn't coming back from a shoulder injury. He really ran into some weird luck in 2022. He gave up an OPS of .720 to hitters in 0-2 counts. The league average is like around a .400 OPS in that specific count. Small sample of course but there is a reason his xERA was 3.75 while his ERA was 4.44. I really think he was having those 2019 growing pains that Burnes, Peralta, and Woodruff all went through and was going to be a better pitcher because of it. All that said none of that information really matters till we see him on the mound again. His 6 2023 minor league appearances were really bad. So when I say for myself that I expect nothing and will be pleasantly surprised with anything. I really mean it.
  15. I have concerns about how Gasser is going to get outs against major league right handed hitters. You hope he can get some of Miley's cutter magic and apply it to himself. My hope is that Misiorowski has cleaned up his delivery in the off-season. If he does, he will be in the rotation at some point. If he doesn't he still is going to be helping the Brewers out of the bullpen. Out of the 3 prospects Carlos Rodriguez is the one I anticipate giving the Brewers the most effective innings as a starter this year. He has the most complete package in terms of repertoire. A devastating changeup to get out lefties. I really am bullish on him. Ashby is the x-factor. I expect nothing and anything the Brewers get will be a bonus. I would be lying though if I didn't think about if he is healthy and can be apart of the rotation for a decent amount of the season it really raises the ceiling of the rotation.
  16. Can't think of a better fit for this team that should help take pressure off of everybody else. Which is really necessary when you consider how many young guys there still will be in the lineup. This coupled with a lineup that last struggled with power and hitting lefties.. It truly is a seamless fit.
  17. All the complaints about not spending money and now they show initiative with a 19 year old and now a segment of the fanbase is going to complain it is too risky? It would be the same fans crying 2 years from now about how poor the Brewers are because they can't lock up Chourio. Just wait till he grows into his frame, he is not a finished product by any means strength wise.
  18. I have no problem trying to go for quantity over quality if we are targeting pitching prospects in a Burnes package. With the way pitchers get hurt and our track record of developing pitchers with all different types of backgrounds I feel more comfortable with that route than the alternative.
  19. Props to Reese Olson for being a capable MLB starter in his rookie year. The Brewers had to get burned at some point trading prospects. Hindsight is 20/20 but darn it would have been nice having him for next year's rotation with the impending Burnes/Woodruff situation
  20. So assuming that Pecota isn't updated for yesterday's win vs. the Padres. We were 72-57 and they have us finishing 86-76. That would mean we are projected to go 14-19 finishing out the year. Pecota must really hate the Brewers.

  22. Reds starting pitchers had an ERA- of 73 in July compared to a FIP- of 104. From the beginning of the season through June they had an ERA- of 126 with a FIP- of 112. Just found that interesting nonetheless. Yes they will get Hunter Greene back but they are due for a major regression regardless.
  23. Also expanded playoffs changes the math on all-in deadline trades but I guess that is just my opinion.
